Free admission on your birthday intro + FAQ + gift card T&C

After registering, @2 weeks before one's birthday, Dl will send one an email notice. If one does not receive it in time for visiting the park, that is no problem. For according to Dl.'s site, it is simply so the process can become a faster one, when one is at the ticket window. So therefore, there should be no problem for you, whatsoever.

Have fun! Happy Birthday to your little one!:)

Although the email is supposed to be sent two weeks before your birthdate, some people (on other boards) have reported not getting messages, but have birthdays coming up soon. Even if you don't receive anything from Disney, you should be able to take advantage of the offer at a ticket booth.

DH's birthday is Jan. 2. The email confirmation arrived on Dec. 22nd, I think. Unfortunately, we have Southern California passes and are blocked out on the 2nd, so we won't be going. We're actually going on Sunday, the 4th. But, my mom is 2/1 and DS is 2/25, so we will be going those days to get the fun cards. Out of the 5 of us in my family, only one son has a birthday that's not on a blockout date for us this year. So we are going to split my mom's fun card and DS's fun card between all 3 kids. Thank you Mom/Grammy!

Just printed my son's email confirmation for his Jan 16th birthday. He'll be 24 and lives in Bend, OR and won't be able to go though.

One can dream about a dedicated line for the birthdays (at the ticket booths) , right?????????????

DBF's is next Wed (the 7th) and we haven't received an email for him yet....I checked all of our emails yesterday just be sure and nope, it wasn't there. I guess I'll try to sign him up again and hope they send something before we leave on Saturday!

Have a great trip! Please report on how you used DBF's card. I think you are AP holders?

We are, we will be activating our new ones when we get to the parks on Saturday. :cool1: We are very excited. I'll be sure to let you know how the card goes. I'm pretty sure we will get the fun card since we are not expecting high crowds on Wednesday. :)

Are we sure that the fun cards can be used by anybody BUT the birthday person? In other words, Disney seems to be taking precautions to make sure that only the b-day people use their cards or claim their b-day prizes ON their actual birthdays, and not a day later. They may even end up printing names and dates on them (they can do that quickly these days). I guess your mom could just show her Fun Card and pay the money to get whatever gifts you want to give your kids. I suppose that is how it works.

Unfortunately, if I want my Fun Card (I have a Premium AP and can go into DLR any day), I have to schlep to DLR on my actual birthday - which will be during the week, and rather inconvenient - to get my card and use it that day or lose it completely! Even if I decided to skip the Fun Card and instead get one of the alternate tickets they offer (which have to be used sometime between the birthday in 2009 and the birthday in 2010), there is still no way to get it except to show up ON the actual birthday. So, on the one hand, I think the birthday promotion will attract a lot of visitors to DLR in 2009 - especially those who are out of work. On the other hand, I think the fact that many people are only able to celebrate their birthdays on weekends and not on the actual weekdays will be a big deterrent. I just don't think as many people will be able to take advantage of the b-day offer as would be expected because everyone has to show up on the actual days and we are not given any kind of a grace period (like even a week) to get to DLR and claim our b-day stuff.

Oh well, it is going to be interesting to see how 2009 plays out and how the b-day promo affects crowds and hotel rates and other fun stuff!

Did you guys see that the first person to use the free admission at a Disney Park was this morning at WDW, and he is a Dis'er????

It's in the podcast area with a link to the Orlando Sentinel. :)

That is cool Molly!!!

Sherry, all our birthday are weekdays as well. And we are much farther away than you are. :) And yes, we are going to attempt to make every birthday in the family this year. :) At least we aren't blocked out, especially for our July girl!

Awesome! Lucky guy!

Pixiewings you may be our first.

We go for my BD 1/25. We arrive on 1/23, gives me two days to figure out how to spend!

pixiewings, I see you live down the highway from me about 10 minutes. I am near the prison (that sounds funny)

so Happy New Year and safe travels back home (home being DL)

We plan to go 9-13 and hope we get an email soon if not then we will just take FYI on DD for the birthday stuff.

Yes, I know my mom will be the one to actually use the fun card to purchase stuff for the kids. Since only one of the 3 kids can receive a fun card, she's letting them use hers. We live close by, so it's not a problem for us to go. My mom's birthday is a Sunday. DS's birthday is a Wednesday, which fortunately is an early release day from school. He's turning 10, so he'll get the full value Fun Card. Especially nice since APs cost the same for children and adults anyway.

It's now being reported on other sites that DLR (and possibly WDW) policy has changed to permit guests to use the Birthday Fun Card at any time, rather than just on that day.

I'm going to try to see if I can confirm this, but it would make sense. Here in California (and maybe in Florida as well), it's illegal for a business to unilaterally cancel the value on a gift card. While calling it a Fun Card does offer a loopwhole, it's certainly not a big one....

Hi Everyone..

This may sound like a silly question..Yet i don't know how to register other members of my family {my 3 grandchildren who are 6 and under who have annual passes as well as my mother who also has her annual pass}.

They do not have emails.. so.. how do i register them? As we had already planned to go on their birthdays.

Thank You for helping me.:goodvibes

Ooooh, that's interesting to hear. Let us know as soon as you confirm. I think that would be great to allow use of the card to extend past the actual b-day, though I assume we would still have to go to DLR on our actual b-days to pick up the card.

Oh to clarify something from my earlier post to anyone who misunderstood - I wasn't necessarily talking about a traveling/geographical distance issue when I said that I bet a lot of people won't be able to take advantage of the get-in-free-on-your b-day thing. I am talking about schedules and other issues. One of my friends was saying the other day that because her b-day is on a weekday and it is hard for her to get off work on a mid-week day in general, and because she also she lives kind of far away, and because the admission is just to one park and not both, it wouldn't be worth it for her to try to jump through hoops to do it on her actual birthday. She said she would be more willing to do it if it were a free trip to both parks with a hotel stay and all that, but to try to take off work on a difficult day for her AND drive a long distance AND pay for gas and pay to upgrade to a Hopper wouldn't be worth it. Yet another friend of mine (who has an AP but still is not as diehard a DLR fan as I am) said that, in her case, it would be a matter of getting off work mid-week or driving to DLR at night after a long day at work just to get a $69 Fun Card or a free ticket for a later trip in the next year, and same thing with her husband's birthday, and neither of them is that gung ho that they have to make a special trip for a Fun Card or a ticket when they are tired after a long day at work. Yet another friend of mine is a big DLR fan but she lives in Idaho, so she is not going to be making a trek from there to here just to get in free to DL on the exact birthday. I am sure there will be lots others who share these opinions too, whether or not we hear about it on DISboards!

I guess what I am saying is that we are all a particular bunch of DLR lovers here on DISboards. We move heaven and earth to make DLR trips happen and our years are not complete if we haven't made at least one DLR trip, and we ponder every detail of all things Disney. Not everyone is necessarily like us out there in the 'real world'! So there is a whole other segment of people who do enjoy Disneyland, but who may just look up their birthdates on the calendar and see it is on a bad day and say, "Oh well, can't go. No big deal." There are also folks who probably won't read the details of the birthday giveaway in full and mistakenly assume that they are getting in free to BOTH parks, only to discover later that they have to pay for an upgrade to a Hopper! For me, as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE DLR, if I am lucky enough to get a new job in 2009 and it turns out that I can't get off a mid-week day from my new job so early on, then I would have to skip DLR. If I am home and have nothing to do, AND have money to spend getting down to DLR on my b-day, then obviously I would go and get the Fun Card or the alternate ticket. But the money in transportation I would spend to get down to Anaheim and back home would probably exceed the price of the Fun Card, or just break even with it, so I would have to really decide if it was worthwhile for me, or if I could just save the money I would be spending on transportaion for a trip to DLR later in 2009 during the holiday season!

By the same token, I do think the Free Birthday admission will attract lots of locals and people who are out of work, at least as far as DLR attendance. Not sure about WDW.:goodvibes

Really? That is cool!!!! We arrive tomorrow but his actual birthday isn't until the 7th so there is plenty of time for someone else to beat us in. :)

Hey....we bought a puppy from someone who lived over there. This was last year, she was our DD's birthday/Christmas gift. That was actually 07 not 08. lol We have had her for just over a year, we got her 12-18-07. Too funny.....and the girls in your pic look so familiar to me.....

REALLY? I'll try to confirm this myself when we are there next week!
