Hey freaps! Missed you all-
I went to the docs today- this is how it went....
This morning went to see the doc @ the Penn Spine Center @ U of Penn in Philly. Mind you- I am now feeling 80% better anyway! My L leg is getting stronger, I can tell b/c I no longer have to pick it up just to get it into the car with the rest of me!!! His asst tested the strength in my legs every which way but sideways- and she told me I do have a total loss of reflex in the L leg just as the Ortho told me on Monday. It sits there, very still, minding its own business when she hits it with the little hammer thing- however, the right leg kicked her in the leg when she hit my right knee! hee hee. I also have numbness in the skin of the left knee and shin- she told me there is no way for them to tell me if I will ever get the relfex or the sensation back- that, only time can tell. All that is from the nerve damage that the herniated disc left behind.
She then took my films- and I asked her if she wanted the report for them and she said- nope, they read the films themselves to make their own determination. Okey dokey. She brings them to the doc whom I have not seen yet-
He finally comes in and said he reviewed my films and all the info from the resident, yes, I have 2 herniated discs, however, looking at my films, reading the results of the strength of my leg and just by me telling him I am @ 80%- he told me my
body is healing itself and there is
NO reason whatsoever to give me any steroid shot. He DID go on to tell me, he has given over
70,000 of the shots, he
LOVES giving them, He WILL
gladly give me one if I want it………but, he said, I do not
NEEEEED it!
Of course, I opted OUT! Gladly!
He is concerned though, about the weakness that remains in my L leg- he wants me to have PT to strengthen it and he also gave me a RX for Celebrex- interesting side effects by the way! I might as well say my goodbyes to you all now! HAAAAA! I took one, however, I am choosing NOT to take it anymore- I can live with the pain, it is not that bad anymore. Let's seeeeeeeee, *weighing my options here* heaaaaaaart attaaaaack ooooooor leg and back pain???? No brainer for me-
So- Friday morning 7:30 AM- bright and early! ugh! I have my first try at PT, they told me I will be there for about an HOUR and a HALF! I should have asked them if I can bring my pillow and my blankey
while they just
SHOW me what I have to do….and I can tell them I will do it later when I get home, I promise...cross my heart.....honest injun' ; )
The doc wants to see me back in about 3 to 4 weeks to re-check the strength in my leg and if everything is ok- I will be……ok.
So, hopefully this is the end to this saga b/c I am REALLY bored with it all. I need to get back to sitting on my butt and being comfortable while doing it....b/c I AM good at it!
