It only seems logical that you would figure he is making so much noise that he won't hear you coming! :goodvibes

I am trully not trying to be ugly, BUT.... did anyone notice that BABY actually spoke on the freebie thread!!! And with emotion and sincerity! I really thought it wasn't a real person! Especially after all the...well, you all remember....I'm perplexed! :confused3

Madd-you vanished for a few hours and I was imagining you in hand to hand(or should that be hand to wing?) combat with Mr. Bird.:rotfl2: I don't know of any bluish woodpeckers.:confused3 Maybe he escaped from those famous Jersey landfills and has some issues. Better watch out. Where's that Tony Soprano smiley?:lmao:

Guess what freaps??? BTW I HATE THE REARRANGED SMILIES TOO!!!! anywho-- guess what?

My friend got me in today to see one of the Orthos in her doc group!

She called me about 12pm and said- can you get there by 1:45??? eeeek! I didn't even take a shower yet! And I have to pick up my films at work! eeeeek!

I quickly cal my office to see if my boss brought my films there- from our facility. No one could find them eeeeek! Time is ticking away! I call my boss- where are my films! She forgets! oh no- I can get into the docs in an hour and half!

What does she do!!!? She prints another set- and DRIVES 45 MINUTES :drive: from our facility down to where I live with the films so I can make the appt today!!!!! I thanked her up and down!

I made it to my appt on time. I had to wait anyway b/c they really squeezed me in!!:crowded: No complaints here- I was very appreciative!

The doc was SO nice! He was an older gentleman- my friend actually used to work in his Dept. I believe she sd he used to be a surgeon but now just sees patients.

He was very attentive- most docs now a days rush in and rush out and do not hear a word you say- he was explaining the films to me and he let me explain my pain time line etc.

He came right out and said- DO NOT get any chiro treatment- IT CAN BE VERY DETRIMENTAL TO ME!!!!:scared: OMG!!

He was joking around a bit but then got very serious- he said I have 2 herniated discs that can cause me some serious problems at any time. He said I have these options:

PT with the epidural steroid shot OR

Surgery!:rolleyes2 great. (fusion, discectomy or a replacement)

I thought he would say PT would get me good to go. No. I told him how scared I was of the shot and I heard it was very painful. (My BIL was just telling us yesterday that one of his friends has had 2 of them in his L spine already- the first one hurt so bad- that he insisted on being OUT for the 2nd one!:scared: ) The doc said it was not that bad.

He was serious and said that right now "you are being your worse enemy" "I am telling you this is serious" :guilty: He said- let me ask you- IF this was happening to your best friend WHAT would you tell them? He really wants me to get this shot- I told him if it was my friend........I would tell her to GET the shot....but get put out first! Well! I was serious!

He then tested my reflexes- my right leg shot right out when he hit my knee- my left??? Just sat there, nothing. :sad2: Nothing happened. I was so freaked out I forgot to ask him if I would ever get the reflex back!! I told him about the time I was walking down the steps and when I got to the bottom- I fell to my knees, he said that is another thing that happens- loss of muscle control in my leg. I was actually LIFTING my leg to get in and out of the the car!!! I did not have to today.

He also mentioned some fa-reaky, scary things about herniated discs causing some really messed up things to happen to "bodily functions" that I DO NOT want to even think about!!!

He told me he WISHES I would just do this. So he wrote me out a rx for the PT and the shot.

I told him I WILL make the appt and I really had NO idea how serious a herniated disc can really be.

I called my friend who got me the appt and she yelled at me that I better go in for a consult with the woman who does the shots. I said FINE I will call you tomorrow (she is in scheduling) and make an appt for a consult- BUT I want to be put to sleep- so if she will not do it- I will find someone who will.

HA! 2 funny doc sidenotes---

I told him I was putting heat on my back- but then I started using the IcyHot- he said- just use a hot water bottle- but please, do not burn yourself:rotfl2: :lmao: IF HE ONLY KNEW!!!

And- when I was in Mexico- I bought these pills at the pharmacIA in the airport when we were flying back home- I was in so much pain- I needed something to get me through the flight- the little guy told me they were the "Mexican version" of Vicodin- I paid 65.00US for them. I took one- they did not make me loopy or anything-

I took them to the Ortho doc today to see what they were- he said, they are......... Tylenol:rotfl2: I said......BHAAAAAA! I WAS SCA-REWED AT THE PHARMACIA! He was laughing. When I was leaving, he says to me, "Hey gringo, I have some Tylenol for you.....65 bucks!" I was cracking up!!!:lmao:

Suz???? What would your DH say about this???:confused3

Don't woodpeckers only peck where they can find insects? That would mean your Bat house has an infestation of some kind.

oh GOD!!!!:crazy2: JUST reading the word......infestation makes me - ugh- wanna puke!

Bugs are my worse fear! Some people hate snakes, mice......me, bugs- so that word is like nails on a chalkboard!!!

Maybe I should get my exterminator to check my tree!!! That tree is BIG, that is all I need, the bugs to be eating away at it, and the next big wind that comes by- the tree falls on my house!:scared:

But then again?? Why wouldn't the woodpecker peck at the TREE and not the house???

Maybe that is why he is blue......he is a bit odd to start with????:rotfl2:

I am trully not trying to be ugly, BUT.... did anyone notice that BABY actually spoke on the freebie thread!!! And with emotion and sincerity! I really thought it wasn't a real person! Especially after all the...well, you all remember....I'm perplexed! :confused3

Judging by your avitar pic- you look adorable, not ugly. hee hee- just being silly!

OMG- I forgot it is a new freebie week- what did someone go balistic on Baby b/c she posted something again...and again...and again:rolleyes:

I gotta get over there and check it out--

and....Hey- Maggie- do not think for a moment we forgot about your suspension young lady- we want to see your post!:p

I am so glad you got in to see a doctor! What great friends you have! :grouphug: It is good that you got an opinion and you can start some sort of treatment that will help relieve your pain. :cool1:

DH just got home and he is outside feeding the animals. I will have him read your post when he gets in.

I wasn't going to say anything but, now that you have mentioned the health of your tree.....DH is of the opinion that woodpecker's are not attracted to healthy trees. He had told me that before when we had discussed my friend's invasion of woodpeckers on her wooded property. She has so many trees around her log home that some of them die annually and those are the ones her woodpeckers spend the summer hammering on.

I'll be back....

O-M-G!!!!

Your DH is just a "jack of all trades":rotfl2:

My DH is a wealth of bizarre knowledge (sometimes I look at him like, where? why? HOW in the world do you know this stuff:rotfl2: ),

but your DH has him beat!:lmao:

Oh, yep, my DH is a regular Wizard of Oz.....sees all and knows all! :rotfl2:

DH is telling me that the PT with the shot is normal, conservative treatment for a situation such as yours. Did the doctor explain to you what the PT and shot(s) would do to help your situation?

Who else on our thread said they had gone through a similar back problem such as yours.....I don't remember now?

I don't remember- all the info in my brain sqeeeeeeshes :crowded: together and I am lucky I can remember my name on a dialy basis!:lmao:

No, the doc did not explain...that I remember. DARN! I have a little tape recorder I should have taken with me. OK- well, I know I have the recorder somewhere- I saw the actual tape today......I guess you need the 2 together right:rotfl2:

YOU expect me to remember everything he said!?:rotfl:

I just heard all the bad and creepy parts!

I GOOGLED the shot- and my heart started racing! I told DH the needle was about a FOOT long!!!!- this is what he looks like when I talk:sad2: ......:lmao:

I am certainly going to be sedated for this!:crazy2: I had to stop reading- I am certianly NOT reading anymore about the risks or I will never end up going!

OMG- I forgot it is a new freebie week- what did someone go ballistic on Baby b/c she posted something again...and again...and again:rolleyes:

According to hrh- it is tacky to quote yourself:snooty: but I just need to come back here b/c it was nothing like I thought.....

She was sending Rach's DH well wishes for his broken arm......no one going ballistic on her.....yet.....:upsidedow

Madd- a co-worker of mine has chronic back problems and started taking cortisone shots this past fall. She goes in about every three months. The first time was uncomfortable, but the change in her pain was like night and day. She is able to move around, do her daily 'stuff' with just small achyness. The shot wears off gradually, and by the 3rd month she is ready to go back. She does not like the actual getting of the shot, but the difference in her life is unbelievable.
And, I have to say, you have made great use of my new fave smilie :crazy2: .

:wave2: I have a herniated disc in my lower back. My primary wanted to refer me to a surgeon but I did NOT want surgery if there was something else that could be done so I was referred to a pt. I started visiting a chiro right before diagnosis & he looked at my films and referred me to PT. Between the 2 of them I feel about 90% better. I say 90% because I know that I can have a "bad" day at any time. I no longer see the pt as I don't need to and I am not in pain everyday and I know when I overdue things I am looking for trouble. I visit my chiro every 6-8 weeks and call if I feel things starting to bother me. Some people (and you sounds like 1 of them madd) cannot go to a chiro for a fix, I think it depends on where the rupture is and how bad it is - and you have 2 discs in trouble. It sounds like you've caused other damage - nerves, etc. that by going the chiro route would cause more issues. I hope that with the steps your dr. is laying out you will have a full recovery. Remember not to push it and just because you may feel better don't think that you can push the envelope. This is one of those times that you need to still sit back and relax a while longer. If you push things too soon, not only will you lengthen your recovery time but you will re-injure/further injure what's already out of whack. :grouphug:

DH tells me it is probably only the bat house that wasn't "healthy". Then, he started asking me when I thought I would be "healthy" enough to clean house around here. :sad2:

Hey y'all...I seem to have caught that lovely "creeping crud" as you guys call it. Boy does it suck. (or in my case shucks;) ) Low grade fever, sore throat, achy achy achy, dizzy, nauseaus, you name it. ick.

Kellie, I hope you manage do get away with DD. When I get over this, we can make plans OK? It takes me about 11 minutes to get to the longwood medical area (I can do it faster - remember when dh was hit by a car last june - the took him to BI, it took me longer to park than it did to get there).

Madd - my DH was totally freaked out when he saw your name - I am always telling him that we there are reasons that we (I) connect to people (metaphysical craps and stuff). So when he saw your name, I could almost hear the "twilight zone" music playing in his head.

MTB - I think you have a DR appoint today for your knee - I hope it's doing better.

It's A Happy Day - Thanks for my envelopes - they make me
happy:love:

AWM - thanks for keeping me from being such a space cadet (:laundy:)

Maggie - we *REALLY* want that link - because some of us need to live vicariously through you:laughing:

As always - you all keep my entertained and engaged (many times I too feel blue:guilty: - but you guys always seem to pull me out)

Time to go take some more theraflu and a nap -

I will check in again later:hug:

TinkerBean....I am sorry to hear you have fallen to the crud! :goodvibes I had been thinking about you over the weekend because you hadn't been around since last week!

I do have an appointment this afternoon and I almost feel like going in there now and just sitting there, staring at them, until my appointed time. I think these stitches really, really need to come out of there! Now my knee looks like an oversized potato, as opposed to the football it was last week! :rotfl: Unable to keep the most boring detail to myself....I'll let you know how it goes! :rotfl: Get plenty of liquid and rest and we'll watch for you in a couple of days when you are feeling better! :wizard:
