FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

Blades of Glory. lol. I have to admit that there are a few parts that made me LOL!
Hey, HRH, which Target did you hit?
I hit the Victory dollar spot yesterday at my lunch time and got a bunch of those mummy flashlight's with fiber optic things coming out of the head. We'll take them to MNSSHP next year. (5 kids 6 and under!) I got one of those Giant flippers that will be great for pancakes and I found out last night that it's great for taking pizza's out of the oven. :)
Ok, speaking of pizza's did anyone else have a recalled Totino's Pizza? I had already baked it and cut it and put it on the plates when my mom told me over the phone to make sure it wasn't in the recall, and it was! My DS3 had his heart set on pizza for movie night! Luckily I had some other frozen pizza, different brand. (Guess I could have ordered, but it would have taken too long.)

Yes, I was at the one on Victory Drive also. I saw those mummy ones, don't know why I passed them by, they were cute.. (5 KIDS 6 AND UNDER????!!-Wow, you sure have your hands full!) I also got a bunch of Scooby Doo pens-pkg of 6 for 25 cents.. I am wondering what day they will mark the rest of the Halloween stuff down to 75%. Target doesn't let their stuff hang around for long, maybe today, but surely tomorrow. If you are interested in cute t-shirts, as of yesterday they hadn't moved the boys Halloween long and short sleeved t-shirts to the Halloween stuff, so they still had a bunch left. The LS ones were $3, SS were $2. They were still in the boys department, so no one knew they were still there.. I can wear a boys XL, so I even got a couple for myself!

YIKES! about your pizza incident, what great timing your mom has! I haven't found a frozen pizza that I really like, so we always order Papa Johns' or Siciliano's..They are quicker than baking one!! We did have a few of the Banquet pot pies that were recalled a little while ago. It is really scary how you can't trust anything anymore..

Not trying to sound like a stalker, but do you live out on the islands? Don't be specific, of course, just wondered since you are close to the new Target...We live on Whitemarsh Island.

OK, this may sound petty but I'm jeolous of your little gobble turkey. Someone please gobble me  Oh that sounded wrong didn't it. Too early in the morning for me !

pandora174 check your pms;)

I have just found out that I have been accepted into an online community to give input on Disney movies. I am so excited, I can't even begin to process- most likely because I do not get selected for anything except things at work that I don't want to do!!! Not even sports, although I am klutzy as all get out, so I would not pick me to be on a team either.

It is one of those things like Pinecone where you can't discuss issues, blah blah, but I will definitely keep my Freaps in mind when it comes to the things I can share!!!!

And completely off topic from that. . .does anyone on here own dauschaunds? (or however you spell it) That one in the pedigree commercial is too doggone cute, and I have been begging my DH to get one, since I think the huge beast (Mongo the mastiff) needs a little buddy. But he thinks they are yip-py dogs. Any input? I really, really want one!!!

There is a person I am friends with here that has some of those. She can recommend her breeder if you like. Just PM ohmom and tell her I sent you.

I have 2 of them! Jetho & Ellie May!
My advice: They are the best dogs in the world. But... they are my children (along with the cat-- Dh and i dont have kids yet so they are my babies).

We got them- brother and sister- when they were 6 weeks. They just had their 2nd birthday. Here they are... from babies to adults. They love each other so much-- they are best friends.

the day we got them- so cute

Awww....pretty babies! :goodvibes

I want to squeeze my computer screen. Those dogs are so freaking cute, I can't even stand it!!! Is there something wrong with me that I think their feet are about the cutest thing ever?!?!?

But what about barking? Do they bark a lot, and is it annoying if they do? Mongo rarely barks, and when he does it is usually an isolated big 'woof'. The neighbor has yappy dogs, and they make me insane.

I cut out the picture from the coupons in the paper for Pedigree and put it on the fridge. (Hint hint-DH). I will make my DH obey me, even if it takes subliminal programming.

I don't have doxies, but I have a great story if you lovers want to read it. Every October, Savannah hosts an Octoberfest down on the Savannah River District. They have the usual sausages, beer, and they also have a weiner dog race. This year there were 170 contestants..Can you imagine how funny this would be to watch? They split them all up into smaller groups of course..Anyway this years winner was Longfellow(great name!). What is so special about Longfellow winning?? Well, last year, Longfellow lost one of his rear legs in a car accident! And the little guy still beat out ALL the four leggers there...all 169 of em'!! If that isn't determination, I don't know what is. :woohoo:

Haha...

Your babies are so cute!
Were they hard to house train?

Ya know, having two together does make things a little tougher... but it was a heck of a lot easier than I ever imagined. I crate trained them which was wonderful. First thing they did when they left their crate or "bed" as well call it, was go outside and go to the bathroom. I let them play as puppies for 30 minute intervals and then put them out to pee-- then they went back in their crate for a nap. Repeating the process... so everytime they came out, and everytime they went in-- they had to look at the green grass. Usually by the time they came out of their crate they needed to pee so they got used to understanding that you go pee outside in the green grass. We did have accidents... and once one would make an accident-- the other would see it and i felt like we would take a few steps back. But all in all they were trained very quickly. I'm a housewife so I am able to be home...and I had them on a schedule (i know- they are spoiled) much like babies. I followed it and with two it worked out really well. They got into a routine of being in their bed, knowing what outside was. Understanding they have to go to their 'bed'-- etc. Now, 2 years later, we never worry about them peeing at all. Except for the occasional Ellie May rolling over (she does that whenever DH talks sternly to her) -- and she squirts pee. Only she does it-- he never does. He's a lot more well mannered than she is though. They have very distinct personalities. I probably had them trained in 6 weeks or so.

Aren't their feet the cutest? DH thinks they smell like Frito's all the time. LOL now I think thats weird! LOL. When they were babies they had their full grown feet so thats how you judge how big they will get. Their feet were so misproportioned to their body- it was so cute!

They dont bark a lot at all. We have a privacy fence in the backyard and they only bark when the trash man is here or something like that (It probably wouldnt be as bad if they were able to see him- but with the privacy fence they just hear the muffles of his feet). They really dont bark though. They are small-- and since they are small they do jump. Thats one habit im having trouble with. If anyone has ideas please let me know!

They are great dogs. DH grew up with one and his mom just had to put him down last month. She cried for weeks. That dog was the reason DH wanted us to get 1 dachshund (I had wanted a boston terrier). Since his old dog was with his mom- we had to have one. Now im thankful we chose dachshunds! We went to the breeder to get them... they wanted 1 for $350 (AKC papers and all). We got there and DH fell in love with the biggest boy they had, and I fell in love with the only girl. So i begged for both (I thought they would have great companionship and be able to entertain one another when we were both away and whatnot). Im so glad we did. We ended up paying $300 for both (papers and all). The breeders had just had a baby earlier in the week and really didnt want to have to keep the dogs much longer. I couldnt resist.

Them (along with our cat- cant leave her out) have brought such smiles to our house.

ETA: Ours are miniature dachshunds. However there are 'Toy' breeds out there that stay as small as puppy.

I can't agree with you more on these two points..we had sibling Labs..don't do it..all the puppies want to do is pay attention to each other, very difficult to train...Get one trained to obedience, then if you want another one..get it...and crate training is the way to go. There will be a few accidents, but they will learn very quickly. They should only have enough room to turn around in their crate..then they can't go in a corner and get away from it..Sounds mean, but it isn't at all. After a while, they learn that the crate is their sanctuary..especially with children that start to drive them crazy..it's their space.

Kate0305, Are you the gal with the Mastiff you pictured in a "Dogs Rule" t shirt a while back? What it that big ole moose gonna do with a little bitty morsel like that??? Just kidding, of course, he will probably be a gentle giant with the baby...:goodvibes

Yep, that's me. I have this kids book with a Mastiff as the main character called 'Truman, Sit' and he has a friend that looks like a chiuaha (my dog spelling is for crap), which is what got me started on the whole thing. I want to name my at-this-point-in-time-imaginary dog Taco for some reason. I get such a kick out of my mental image of Mongo and Taco running around in the back yard. Taco would not even be as big as Mongo's foot!!! I would be nervous if Mongo was still a puppy, but he is almost 7 and mellllllooooooow. So aside from crushing the pup, no worries!

So cross your fingers that DH takes the hint (or I browbeat him into submission) and there is a new Taco under the tree.

Oh yeah, crates are good for more than just training puppies.

Just kidding!!! My son and his friend on my son's first birthday. They played in the dog crate more than they played with the new toys.

Definitely! As they grew up we had to get a bigger crate. We have had quite a few. Its been a little expensive to keep getting bigger crates... now they have more room than they did as pups... we could easily fit another dachshund in there with them;) but they also know at this point that they dont go to the bathroom there.

Crate training gets a bad reputation--- but it saved our carpet! And they are little angels now.

Our neighbor has a HUGE Brazillian Mastiff and that thing is like a big horse walking through the house. He lays on their couch and literally their couch is breaking down. I could never imagine having one of these in my home, esp. after having little dogs. They are huge! But oh so sweet and loveable!

Don't forget the FREE baby book from Dreft.com - you have to register right after midnight EST to qualify as one of the 1st 1,000 that day to get free otherwise you get a code for 20% off. I just registered!

Mind if I jump in? I think I jumped in way at the beginning but I think I've missed about 127 pages!! :)

And I tried to do the Dreft thing but it tells me I already got the 20% off GRRRRRRRR...I really want a free book!!
