After you've gone and left me crying, after you've gone - there's no denying
You'll feel blue - you're gonna be sad
You've missed the dearest pal that (slickest partner) you ever had
There'll come a time - don't you forget it
(Yeah) There'll come a time - when you're gonna regret it
Some day when you get lonely
Your heart will break like mine - (and) you'll want me only.
After you've gone (split) - after you've gone away (flown the coop)
After we paid - our dues together
You should have stayed - through all that nasty weather
Someday while you're feeling badly
You'll need the only one that loves you so madly
But I'll be gone - yes I'll be gone - to stay
Yeah after I've gone - after I've gone away

My Uncle Bob loved Frank Sinatra. Here is a Frank Sinatra song that I remember singing when I was a little girl. It was on a 45! In fact, I was just asking my Dad about this song the other day and he couldn't remember Frank singing "Ol' MacDonald" and thought I was crazy.:p

Ol' MacDonald

Ol' Mac Donald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O
And on this farm there was a chick
The prettiest chick I know
With a little curve here and a little curve there
This chick she had curves everywhere
Ol' Mac Donald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

And oh this chick she had to walk, E-I-E-I-O
And how this walk would drive 'em wild swinging to and 'fro
With a little wiggle here and a little wiggle there
Man this chick had wiggles to spare
Ol' Mac Donald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

When she went walking into town, E-I-E-I-O
The local gentry popped their eyes
Tarnation what a show
With a goldang here and a goshdarn there
Heavens to Betsy I do declare
Ol' Mac Donald had a farm E-I-E-I-O

There was a barn dance Saturday night, E-I-E-I-O
And the fellows came from miles around
Just to see her dosey-do
With a promenade here and a promenade there
At a square dance, boy, this chick was no square
Ol' MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

I used to be a travelling man, E-I-O,
Until I hit MacDonald's place
Things were mighty slow
With a little chick here and a little chick there
I didn't have a real chick anywhere
Ol' MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

This farmer's daughter knocked me out, E-I-E-I-O
I asked MacDonald for her hand
And pop, he hollered "Go!"
With a little curve here and a little wiggle there
A goldang here and a goshdarn there
A dosey-do here and a promenade there
Got my own private county fair
'Cause ol' MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

Your love is rain, my heart the flower, I need your love or I will die
My very life is your power, will I wither and fade or bloom to the sky
Aqua de Beber, Give the flower water to drink
Aqua de Beber, Give the flower water to drink
The rain can fall on distant deserts, the rain can fall upon the sea
The rain can fall upon the flower, since the rain has to fall let it fall on me
Aqua de Beber, Give the flower water to drink
Aqua de Beber, Give the flower water to drink

One For My Baby (And One More for the Road)

It's quarter to three, there's no one in the place
Except you and me
So set 'em' up Joe, I got a little story
I think you should know
We're drinking my friend, to the end
Of a brief episode
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
I know the routine, put another nickel
In the machine
I feel kind of bad, can't you make the music
Easy and sad
I could tell you a lot, but it's not
In a gentleman's code
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
You'd never know it, but buddy I'm a kind of poet
And I've got a lot of things I'd like to say
And if I'm gloomy, please listen to me
Till it's talked away
Well that's how it goes, and Joe I know your gettin'
Anxious to close
Thanks for the cheer
I hope you didn't mind
My bending your ear
But this torch that I found, It's gotta be drowned
Or it's gonna explode
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road

Ain'tcha ever coming back, aintcha? Can't ya see the difference it makes?
I'm half myself without your kisses,
One more night of doing without `em will drive me crazy
Won'tcha make me smile again, won'tcha? Just a word is all that it takes.
Your hello will let me know that we're the same as we used to be,
Oh, ain't cha ever coming back to me?

My dad's favorite when he was alive - and he lived it for sure!

"My Way"
Writer(s): Revaux/Francois/Anka

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

"Be Careful, It's My Heart"

Be careful, it's my heart,
It's not my watch you're holding, it's my heart.
It's not the note that I sent you that you quickly burn,
It's not a book I lent you that you never return.
Remember, it's my heart.
The heart with which so willingly I part
It's yours to take, to keep or break,
But please, before you start,
Be careful, it's my heart.

Got my tweed pressed, got my best vest, all I need now is the girl
Got my striped tie, got my hopes high
Got the time and the place and I got the rhythm,
Now all I need's the girl to go with'em

If she'll just appear we'll take this big town for a whirl
And if she'll say "My, darling, I'm yours"
I'll throw away my striped tie and my best-pressed tweed
All I really need is the girl

<lengthy instrumental while Franks hums and scats off and on>

Got my tweed pressed, I got my best vest, all I need now is the girl
Got my striped tie, got my hopes `way up high
I got the time and the place and the rhythm
All I need's the girl to go with'em

Mm, if she'll just appear we'll take this, this great big town for a whirl
And if, if she'll say "My, darlin', I'm yours"
I'll throw away my striped tie and my best-pressed tweed
All I real, really need is the girl

< more instrumental with scat>

All I need is the girl

"Close to You"
Writer(s):

Close to you - I will always stay
Close to you - though you're far away

You'll always be near - as though you were here
By my side
No matter where - in my dreams, I'll find you there

Close to me - sharing your caress
Can't you see - you're my happiness

Where ever you go - my heart will go too
What can I do
It only wants to be - close to you

Today I may not have a thing at all except for just a dream or two
But I've got lots of plans for tomorrow and all my tomorrows belong to you
Right now it may not seem like spring at all, we're drifting and the laughs are few
But I've got rainbows planned for tomorrow, and all my tomorrows belong to you
No one knows better than I that luck keeps passing me by ... that's fate
But with you there at my side, I'll soon be turning the tide ... just wait
As long as I've got arms that cling at all, it's you that I'll be clinging to
And all the dreams I dream, beg, or borrow on some bright tomorrow they'll all come true
And all my bright tomorrows belong to you

I love this song

IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR
Frank Sinatra
(Ervin Drake)

When I was seventeen, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls
And soft summer nights
We'd hide from the lights
On the village green
When I was seventeen

When I was twenty-one, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for city girls
Who lived up the stairs
With perfumed hair
That came undone
When I was twenty-one

When I was thirty-five, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls
Of independent means
We'd ride in limousines
Their chauffeurs would drive
When I was thirty-five

But now the days are short, I'm in the autumn of my years
And I think of my life as vintage wine
From fine old kegs
From the brim to the dregs
It poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year

All of me - why not take (come on get) all of me
Can't you see - I'm no good (just a mess) without you

Take my lips - I want to lose them
Take (Get a piece of) my (these) arms - I'll never use them

Your good-bye - left me with eyes that cry
How can I - get along (ever make it) without you

(You know) You took (got) the part - that once was (used to be) my heart
So why not - why not take all of me

Did this one make it yet??

Next time you're found with your chin on the ground
There's a lot to be learned so look around
Just what makes that little ol' ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant can't
Move a rubber tree plant

But he's got high hopes... he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie in the sky hopes
So any time you're getting low
'Stead of letting go,
Just remember that ant.
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant.
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant.
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant.

When troubles call and your back's to the wall
There's a lot to be learned, that wall could fall.
Once there was a silly ol' ram,
Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam;
No one could make that ram scram,
He kept buttin' that dam

But he's got high hopes... he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie in the sky hopes
So any time you're feeling bad
'Stead of feeling sad
Just remember that ram.
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam!

So keep your high hopes, keep your high hopes.
Keep your high apple pie in the sky hopes.
A problem's just a toy balloon
They'll be bursting soon
They're just bound to go POP!
Oops there goes another problem kerplop.
Oops there goes another problem kerplop.
Oops there goes another problem kerplop.
Kerplop!

What a wonderful thread! It brings back priceless memories of driving {with my now teenage children} about ten years ago, and how they all loved to listen to his music. I first put the tape on to stop the quarreling...and then they were hooked. ;)

"My Funny Valentine"

My funny Valentine, sweet comic Valentine, you make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable, unphotographable, yet you're my favourite work of art
Is your figure less than Greek, is your mouth a little weak,
When you open it to speak, are you smart?
But don't change a hair for me, not if you care for me
Stay little Valentine stay, each day is Valentine's day
Is your figure less than Greek? Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak, are you smart?
But don't you change one hair for me, not if you care for me
Stay little Valentine stay, each day is Valentine's day

I love the look(s) of you, (and) the lure of you, the sweet of you, and the pure of you
The eyes, the arms, and the (that) mouth of you,
The east, west, north, and the (that) south of you
I'd love to gain complete control of you, handle even the heart and soul of you
Love at least a small percent of me do `cause (Because) I love all of you.

One of my most favorite Sinatra songs:

Album Title: Christmas Songs by Sinatra (Columbia)
Prime Artist: Frank Sinatra
Music by: A.H. Malotte

Lyrics:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.
Amen.

(In the original Latin)
Pater noster qui es in coelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum,
Adveniat regnum tuum, fiat voluntas tua, sicut in coelo et in terra,
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
Et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittibus debitoribus nostris,
Et ne nos in ducas in tentatiomen, sed libera nos a malo.
Amen.

others did my number 1 & number 2 favs
Just the Way you look tonight
Ain't that a kick in the head

So how about
Everybody Loves Somebody

Everybody loves somebody sometimes
Everybody falls in love somehow
Something in you kiss just told me
that My sometime is now

Everybody finds somebody someplace
There's no telling where love may appear
Something in my heart keeps saying
that my someplace is here

"A Sinner Kissed an Angel"

Stars in the sky were dancing
One night perfect for romancing,
The night a sinner kissed an angel,
He wanted thrills, she wanted love,
Oh but his sighs were tender
As he begged her to surrender,
The night a sinner kissed an angel,
And she believed that it was love.
How was she to know that every lovely vow
Was part of the game he was playing,
But to his surprise he realized
Somehow he meant every word he was saying.
Yes, miracles can happen,
I know 'cause I saw what happened
That night a sinner kissed an angel,
That was the night I fell in love.

All or nothin' at all
Half a love never appealed to me
If your heart, it never could yield to me
Then I'd rather, rather have nothin' at all

I said all, nothin' at all
If it's love, there ain't no in-between
Why begin then cry for somethin' that might have been
No I'd rather, rather have nothin' at all

Hey, please don't bring your lips close to my cheek
Don't you smile or I'll be lost beyond recall
The kiss in your eyes, the touch of your hand makes me weak
And my heart, it may grow very dizzy and fall

And if I fell under the spell of your call
I would be, be caught in the undertow
Well, you see, I've got to say "No, no, no"
All or nothin' at all

And if I fell, fell under the spell of your call
Don't you know I would be caught in the undertow?
So, you see, I just got to say "No, no"
All or nothin' at all

All or nothin' at all
