Cancellation/Change Policy--
I just called to book my rooms for the weekend in the event that I have to evacuate. For room only reservations the policy is as follows:
Cancellation is 5 days out--since we are within that window, you will be unable to cancel without losing 1 nights deposit....
BUT, you have until the day before your ressie to say you are not coming--then that 1 nights deposit can be credited towards any future reservation (you will need to move your reservation though--so even if you don't know when you can come back, just pick a date on the calendar so you do not lose your deposit).
If the day of you must cancel due to travel mishaps or whatever--you have to call the hotel directly and the manager will make the decision on whether you lose your deposit or can change your ressie.
I had to check this information as it is unclear when the hurricane would threaten my home--some reports say afternoon--and our local news has said as early as Saturday morning. I wanted to have myself covered with a place to stay that was close enough home for me to come and assess any potential damage.
So it is correct you have opportunity to not LOSE your deposit--but you will not get REFUNDED either--unless you have trip insurance that covers these instances of trip interruption or flight cancellations etc.
If you have a package--the rules maybe different--if someone knows the official policy--please post here...the above is for room ressies only.
I got a Fla Residents preferred room rate at Sports (only one with Fla Res rates left for value) for $69 per night. Rack rate elsewhere was in the $90 range.
