FP+ Work Around, how to get more FP in a day thread?

Well I know the steps are easy but I just mean more work than it's worth so that I'm not up my iphone's butt all day. I'm there with my kids to enjoy WDW not stare at my phone all day trying to buck the system.

Well, there's that.

And anyone that follow park strategies knows that for years these two have run out and quickly. Nothing new there, esp with TSMM.

What this is exposing is a huge lack of headlining attractions. Today, when crowd levels are at an 8 out of 10, the following occurred.

Toy Story and Rock n Roller were both out of FP by 10 a.m. and Tower is out to 5:30 at 10:40 in the morning.

At Epcot, both Soarin' and Test Track were out of FP by 10:30 a.m.

You can just chalk it up to being busy or "nothing new", but it does show a problem that Disney is trying to make up for by implementation of FP+.

However, I would contend that they are creating a larger problem. Just my humble opinion.

I haven't seen anyone reporting lack of FP other than with Toy Story Midway Mania and maybe Soarin'.

I said during the upcoming Holidays and mentioned the tiering thing. You just brought up the top 2 rides in two of the parks that were hard to get during slower times with the resorts at much less than full capacity and with Disney putting tiering into effect. I do not think think that is an okay program, do you?

I wasn't referring to slower times. I was referring to the crazy busy October.

Just had to give you a thumbs up for this :thumbsup2

Strangely enough, the two attractions that I'm sure they could double the capacity (by building a COPY of) at a much lower cost than all this FP+ nonsense. ;)

It's noon at WDW and the following are all out of fastpasses for the day:
Rock n roller coaster
Toy Story
Tower of Terror
Mission Space Orange
Test Track
Soarin'
Expedition Everest (almost out)

While that's not good, that is actually an improvement over a few weeks ago, when TSMM, Soarin', and Test Track FPs were gone shortly after 9am on days with crowds levels lower than 8. Maybe Disney is starting to get a slightly better handle on things.

I totally agree that the lack of attractions is the biggest cause of all these problems though. Far more so than FP+ or FP- or anything else.

The time you are mentioning it was widely reported there was a glitch in the system that was wiping out fastpasses and that's why they were gone do quickly. What we see today is going to be normal.

Also of interest, they guy at Easy WDW reported that Disney is holding back fastpass+ spots for day of use. He noted that at 9 a.m. (official park opening) he was able to obtain FP+ for TSMM when they didn't exist the night before.

Edit: What's funny about that is once again the early bird gets the worm.

That's why I think people are panicking too much about this.

but that's because of FP+ right? so there are less of them than ever before.

eventually there will be ZERO fps. so we go from what was normal (last year) to now (interim, less) to final (zero).

so I don't understand reporting it on here like it's some dramatic thing.

????

What I reported today is not good, especially if you are staying off-site and don't get to the park a half hour before opening. You are screwed.

The report was at noon, no? You don't need to be at the park a half hour before opening. You need to be there before noon.

There was no indication that the attractions had "just run out" of FP's "at" noon.

That could have been someone who decided not to go to HS that day cancelling their spots so they could get some in another park; if you check the app frequently you'll see a few random spots turn up from time to time after they've otherwise run out for the day. Was there anything else about it that made him think it was Disney holding them back and releasing them?

Disney's all NEW, all GREEN-

"Catch and Release" FP program.

Won't you please donate a FP for someone in need?

I really don't know if it is possible to design a system like this that could instantly communicate from the touch points at the attractions to the reservation system to alert it that a FP+ reservation has been used. But, if it does take a few seconds, and in that amount of time a guest could push the "done" button on his phone to change the reservation that has already been used, closing the loophole may produce a result you don't like. At some point there may have to be a tradeoff between flexibility and the security and integrity of the system.

It is. The current design has issues, performance being a big one but the whole design of the mobile app should be rethought IMHO. I think expecting some time of time based exploit to cheat the system isn't very realistic. As surferdave keeps pointing out, doing it when the park is empty is one thing, when thousands of people are pummeling the already crippled system trying to swap FP's.... good luck. You may end up with 6 FP's for the Tiki Room.

As for being able to reenter the FP+ line... that's the banana peal on this heap of steaming garbage. How can it get more elementary? If they didn't get these basic things right, I suspect all of MM+ was poorly thought-up, designed, and as we're seeing now, executed.

Thus all the "lack of QA" comments, they really should have found and fixed these issues before any user acceptance testing. Many of the issues are going to be exploited by people simply trying to use the app to the best of their ability and not intentionally "hacking" the system.

2. They underestimated the "computer savvyness" of their end users - I doubt they expected someone like KTP to so quickly push for holes and workarounds

If this is true it's a huge mistake. I've always been amazed at Disney's ability to close loopholes and prevent people from working the system as much as possible. They expect it. They some know people are going to try whatever they can to beat the system. It's the QA depts job to find those loopholes before you do.

This is better than Primetime television.

Watching paint dry is more exciting than PT tv.

If nothing else, this thread has proven I'm not such a bad guy after all. I would never purposely jump in line in front of a 4 year old....unless they showed up without their Dad...then I would be like...get out of my way kid.

Kudos to Kenny for exposing the huge flaw.

Yeah, and then knock the Mickey bar out of her hand and stomp on it.pirate:
The "cheating a 4yo" comments were a stretch. Sorry but if her parental units can't figure out how to work a FP machine, she should trade them in for a better model.

At any rate, I sincerely hope they get it done before the big crunch. I can almost feel the pressure they are under to get it right and get it right quick. If anyone from the parks IT group is reading this, good luck.
seriously
