FP+... who hates it

I don't hate FP+ but I don't like them either.

We just got back and had some trouble with them. For some reason the system decided that we didn't ride anything at AK and wouldn't let us make any more beyond the three initial FP. I had to go to guest services to get that fixed. Otherwise I found them fairly easy to use. I disliked being limited to only three and the tiering though. Epcot (DS talked me into going) had nothing left when we hopped to it around 2 in the afternoon. We were offered Imagination, the character spot and so on. Um, no thanks.

In fairness the parks were jammed though. I can see FP+ working fairly well when it's not so crowded and more so at MK than elsewhere.

From what I've read, FP+ works best over crowded times like Christmas and Spring Break. But I think this only applies to MK, since it has enough attractions. Epcot is a 4th FP+ joke unless you want EO or Figment.

I love fast pass. I love planning the trip

But we go thru park at our pace and ride what we want. But it's nice to know we have 3 of our favorite rides in our back pockets to ride with no wait. I think people just need things to whine about

Just my opinion, but I would much prefer not to have to worry or talk about the cons of FP+ and how it has changed our families touring and not for the better. We have a huge investment in DVC and we bought into it bc we loved how we could tour the parks and get so much done, we are trying and trying to learn the new system but it so far has been a it disappointing. So no I have no desire to "whine" but I will when my family's favorite vacation has changed and we have a lot riding on it.

Hate fp+ with a passion.

I've only tried it two times and both times the system was new so a lot of glitches. I haven't read all 8 pages so these are my family's view.

1) hate that it gets rid of any spontaneity. No we do not pick our parks by the internet, we do not schedule adr's months in advance and we hate having to pick what ride at what time we are going to ride.

2) I hate being tied to my phone. NO, I do not want to check every hour on my cell phone. I don't want to waste my vacation time trying to find halfway decent wifi ***grrrr***

3) How is it possible that every time I got into the kiosk line I was behind someone who didn't speak English and took 30 minutes to simply figure out how the system works?

LOL MKrop, On the "dis" whine and complain are actually code for "you don't worship every thing Disney does so there is some thing wrong with you".

Im probably one of the few who don't mind FP+ system as my family don't do the commando style of touring as we let the kids each pick one ride whatever park we're at that day and whatever else we get done we get done we prefer to just enjoy the park rather than rush around like crazy. Now my only issue that I dislike is not being able to add FP from your phone once your original FP are gone. I think if they'd fix that then it would be better but overall no complaints.

I don't like the FP+ system period exclaimation point. It's just a touring style I don't care for.

Out of curiosity, those of you who are on the dislike/hate end of the scale, did any of you filed a complaint at Disney? As it impacted your enjoyment of the World, I wonder if there are people who sent their feedback to Disney. (besides giving it here in some obscure corner of the internet ;-) ) and if so, I'd love to hear what Disney's reply was.
Or do you feel it's no use?

(I have not experienced FP+ myself yet, still can go either way)

Actually I did. I received a survey and informed them of my dislike of FP+. No response from Disney.

We arrive next Thursday for 9 nights.... first time using FP+ over spring break REALLY WORRIED. We have been two other times over the same week with the OLD systems and it was FINE. We have only been one other time using this new system and that was last Aug. when it was not terrible crowd wise.

Don't be.

We were worried, too. Had a pretty rough experience booking FP+ reservations on line last year, and we like to consider ourselves masters of the old system :)

However, we got to WDW last May and LOVED FP+. Give it a chance. There were some benefits of the old system, but the new one is fantastic.

Have a positive attitude going in. Also important.

Sometimes I really miss the pre-FP days. When everyone just waited in a line and were fine with it.

Homer Simpson: "We only got to ride two rides!"

Chief Wiggum: "Did you use FastPass?"

Bart Simpson: "FastPass is overrated."

Chief Wiggum: "Spoken like someone who's never had to live in a world without FastPass."

;)

Hate it for a number of reasons, some including...
Have to plan 60 days out, ruins spur of the moment fun and gives you potentially longer bus wait times
Having to plan 60 days out screws things up potentially with rain. We are going for 11 days so we must select a day to skip the main parks, if our selected day gets rained out we now have no fp
At times you get to a selection the the line doesn't require fp, so you wasted a selection where the old system you would just go get a different attraction
Also causes headaches with room breaks and such since the fp and room key is all attached.
Causes issues with young children too by them not knowing if they want to go on a ride.
Let's not forget it causes issue with kids boarderline tall enough to ride. My youngest is just under the requirements for some attractions and so it's a total gamble, do I potential waste a fp by booking or do I possibly stick our selfs by not booking and needing to stand in line for hrs
That's good for now lol

My mil just asked me last night why we have to do all this and IMO it's simple, Disney is forcing you to not fit as much into a day and in turn you need to spend more time. I figured what we got accomplished in 6 days now takes us 10.
Hoping should be implemented IMO too, they know based on your ticket if you have the hopper so you should be able to book at multi parks in advanced

I completed a survey and e-mailed guest services about my experiences last April. I did get a canned response form guest services but nothing else.
I also completed a survey on the website and notified guest services about additional problems I experienced with MDE 2 weeks ago. I did get a call from guest services this year.
I think last April Disney was being inundated with guest complaints so they couldn't respond to everyone.

i define it by people that would get fastpasses and hoard them to use one after the other later in the day instead of going during the 1hr window.
going during the 1hr window was always the rule but it was not enforced.
i always followed the rule so i usually didn't get more than 3 fastpasses on any given day where as others would collect 10 and then use them later just because they "could".
i had no problem with them enforcing the rule but everyone that was abusing it then complained complained complained about having to follow the rule.
people that abused the system are now finding that they really cannot abuse it with FP+ and it angers them.
i like FP+ because it helps to make sure everyone is following the rule not just the honest people.
For what it's worth, I didn't even know you were allowed to use your FP after the window until I cam on here and saw that people were upst about the times being enforced. So, by your definition, I never abused the FP system and I still greatly dislike the new FP+ system. Also, for what it's worth, I had no problem collecting many more than 3 fast passes under the previous system. It really wasn't hard. And yes, I was able to collect 10. And no, the fact that I cannot "abuse" FP+ is not what angers me. It's that it is straight up not possible for me to still get done in one day what I used to. I am paying more money to go to WDW now than I did this time 2 years ago and I'm getting less done. That angers me. But no, it was not hard to get 10 FPs without "abusing" the system.

What is hard is currently getting everything done that I used to get done. Instead, I have had to change the way I tour. I will admit that this system is great for people who don't intend to be in the park all day - especially those who choose to sleep in and not get to the parks until lunch time or later. That was never me. But I have learned to adjust my touring strategy to where I am not in the parks all day anymore. There's no point. I can't ride my favorites multiple times with minimal wait. I can't right the popular attractions during the afternoon with minimal wait. It doesn't benefit me to get there for rope drop and to stay all day anymore so I just don't do it. One of the people from Disney said that FP+ was designed to keep people in the parks. In that area, it is a big failure. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the majority of people who say that they like FP+ a lot more than FP are those who weren't spending all day in the parks to begin with. They were the ones who slept in and/or took midday breaks. Not saying that there is anything wrong with that, either. Everyone should tour in a way that benefits them and their desires the best. But the idea that FP+ is keeping people in the parks more than before is laughable.

I got home a few days ago from an 8 day trip to the world. This was our first FP+ experience and I was really worried that it wouldn't work well for us. After many, many trips with the old system we felt that we had it all down. Before booking my FP+ at the 60 day mark I did as much reading as possible and came up with a plan that would hopefully prevent us from criss crossing the parks. Overall, I think it was just OK for us. On our first day we went to MK which had EMH morning starting at 7am....we arrived at the park around 7:15. We were able to get a lot done in a very short period of time so by 9:30ish we were kind of hanging around waiting to start our FP+ which was not until 10:35. Now, when I booked the FP+ the park was opening at 8am not 7am. Even so, I realized that judging the time was an issue. Our first FP+ was 7DMT so right after that we still had an hour to wait for our next one(BTMR) but I was able to use the app and change the time to get us on within 15 minutes which worked well. Over the course of the week I will say that either we were very lucky or perhaps it's how the system works but we changed our times on the fly to better fit what we were doing right then and there. That part I very much liked.

The negatives for us was mainly the tiering at Epcot and DHS. That really did not work for us. As a result we were unable to ride a few favourites because the stand by line was over 60 minutes at any given time. Granted, on the days we were in those parks my 16yo asked if we could sleep in a little so we did not arrive in the parks until approx. 9:30-9:45am and it was the FL spring break week so crowd levels were 8's all week. I knew this and knew it would be busy. The big negative for us was the FP+ kiosk situation. The lines were always VERY long and slow. The machines didn't function well either. I would have to repeatedly tap the screen and the CM's would end up jumping in because they thought I couldn't work it but they would immediately see that the machines were not responding. This happened every single time I used one. I don't mind(too much) having to book additional ones after you use the first 3 but you should not have to waste time standing in line at a kiosk. You should be able to do it on the app if you wish. lf they want to stick with the kiosk set up there should be a lot more of them and not so spread out.

We had 7 park days, and spent 4 of them at MK so we didn't feel like we missed out on anything due to FP+. We rode every single ride we wanted to, the only ones I missed were the ones my dd didn't want to go on. The only thing I didn't get to do was tour the World Showcase and that had nothing to do with fp+.

Maybe they should just yank fp away completely. See how happy everyone is then?

Yes, I have, in surveys, in person at GS and in emails. Disney's reply? The standard "we're sorry you feel that way, we'll pass it on blah blah blah".

It makes sense that FP+ would work well at MK when it's crowded. We rode our three there and then got two more later, one for Haunted Mansion and one for Buzz. The FP+ kiosk lines were fairly long and I commented that it was interesting to wait in line to avoid waiting in line. I hope that they let people add more by phone eventually.

It was a disaster at Epcot though. We decided to park hop to Epcot and it was all booked up. However we got lucky because once we got our mess straightened out, FP+ for Soarin' suddenly popped up. I don't know how or why but we learned not to count on anything like that happening most of the time.

i dont like FP+ either, but after a horse is dead beating it again isnt going to do any good. we are all just repeating the same stuff over and over and not getting anything out of it.

Yes we did, we have not heard back. I heard people were complaining on Facebook and their posts were being deleted.

I would not be happy camper, we started going again bc of FP-. We went in the days of 2 hour lines for Splash and swore never again, until we had DS17 and DH read about this great new system. We tried it and were hooked.

They had in my opinion a great and fair system, why did they need to mess with it. Or keep it fair and let everyone pick the day of or maybe the day before. When I first heard about the system I thought it had potential, it has been the implementation so far that I have not been happy with
