Probably coming very soon. As gcoolie noted above, the iOS platform-based app just updated today to v1.3. According to iTunes, what's new in this version is:

  • View your upcoming resort reservations
  • Updates to support new experiences coming soon to Walt Disney World
  • Additional fixes and performance improvements
I'll be taking it for a test drive shortly.

You iOS people can be the beta testers. :)

Everyone needs their own managed account? Even kids?

No, you are asked to put in the birthday/age. If it is a child, a message will pop up saying that they can be added to plans, etc. and be managed by you, but will not have their own account.

On the updated app, you can see the reservations in the "more" section at the bottom. You'll find on the fourth box down "My Reservations".

I first checked the "my plans" section, but didn't see it there.

I just linked my resort conf# with iPad app. It was crashing when I tried to add my children so I tried with my son's iPad mini(mine is IPad 1 so sometimes can't handle some apps) and gave message that names didn't match my resort resrvation. Noticed "Mstr." and "Mr." were mismatched. As soon as corrected my resort reservation showed up. Would like to reserve Fastpasses for March 3-6 but would be surprised it would up and running by that time. Spoke to CM yesterday who said he " really didn't know".

Well I'm in Canada and had the new website for all of maybe 20 minutes and now anytime I try to go to it, I get the old page with no My Disney Experience tab. :furious:

I have an iPhone 5 and I cannot get my resort ressie to list on the app.
When it asks for a phone number it wants me to put in as: (XXX) ddd-dddd
BUT, I can only put it in as XXXXXXXXXX. It does not give me any keys to type in - or (). Has this happened to anyone else?
It is very frustrating.
Thank you.

And you've updated the app today?

And you've updated the app today?

Yes, and I just did it again now.
When I type in the telephone number it shows in the field to do it:
(XXX) XXX-XXXX but I only have an option of doing XXXXXXXXXX
I do it as XXXXXXXXXX and it says Reservation Failed to Link.
I called Disney today and the confirmation and my cell are correct in their system so I do not know what the heck I can do now.
This is for my hotel ressie.

I just copied/pasted my phone number from a document to the app the way it is asking and it is STILL not working???!!!!???? :confused3

WOW! This app froze up again and I can't tell you how many times it did that today. Actually, I think it is the worst one I have ever downloaded.
What a waste of my time today.

To see your resort reservation, go to "more" and then "my reservations" You shouldn't have to put in your phone number. The phone number is for finding a dining ADR.

But "Surprise Fastpasses" are not new. We have received several of these in the past - usually for Mickey's Philharmagic in the MK or Mission Space in EPCOT. I agree that with the magicband they might be able to offer more options.

:thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone with their thoughts and facts concerning this... i've been lurking on this thread for the simple fact that it seems overwhelming to me....interesting but overwhelming, and at a loss for words to comment. Setting up the friends and family seems to be a chore, making it work right....but trying to get things set up for the 11 of us going (3 families), and making this all work out before we go in April. Better to be prepared now in case they start the FP+ before our trip.

I love Robo's comments, i agree, although interesting, never needed fixing.

Bcrook...thanks for having everything outlined so well.

doconeill... love the insightful comments too :thumbsup2

Mousermerf...love and appreciate the info you've provided

Mom2rtk... your comments...make me laugh, and insightfull all the same; and you can also add me to the "no PIN receivers list".

and Larryz... i'll join you in the "game" :thumbsup2

I'm sure there's more, but i'd be recreating the whole thread again so i'll stop here....LOL

You are welcome! I look forward to your reports.

I'm wondering, other than the email that's linked in the first post, has anyone tried to contact Disney with your concerns? I wrote them an email today to express my concerns based on what we know so far. Who knows whether they'll actually do anything with it, but in my mind, this testing period is like a public comments period, and they're not going to be able to change things they don't know about, assuming, of course, they don't read this site. And even if they do read this site, let's face it...there are 1000s of posts here a day. Some are better written and more concise than others, but it's really hard to find them, IMO. So, instead of putting my thoughts here, I drafted a letter to Disney and put my thoughts there, where they stand a better chance of actually being read by someone at Disney.

Well? Are you going to share your letter? :) Keep us posted.

Let's not forget that the profiles can be linked so the leader should be able to simply go ahead and request those fastpasses just like he would have previously done at the ride's FP machine.

When I added my room confirmation numbers I was immediately prompted to set up accounts for all parties in my room. I have 3 room reservations right now for various times and I have set up accounts for everybody in rooms (2 bedroom villas at Kidani - so I have 8 total people now). Now all of those people are connected to me and a room reservation. I also have the option of just adding anybody I want with the Add A New Guest button. I wonder how all those random people are going to get their rfid bracelets and how are those bracelets are going to be hooked up to my account if we all aren't together at check in. They would have to be with me or create their own account and link to mine. IF everybody has their own account and link to me, then everytime I assign a FP+ everyone would have to confirm on their device.

It is messy. I am back in the maze.

Everyone needs their own managed account? Even kids?

Whoever wants to get their own notices and FP+ bonus offers or wants to get a separate FP+ would need their own account I think. My teenage children would want their own so they could ride their rides, and I want mine so I can ride mine.

Look at this from the Terms and Conditions: "You acknowledge that, by sending or accepting an invitation to become Connected Friends, you authorize your Connected Friends to plan activities for you, including making FP+ selections for you without notice."

So it looks like someone can make a reservation for me, and I can deny reservation if I log in and check it out. But, I don't have to confirm it. hmmmm.

No, you are asked to put in the birthday/age. If it is a child, a message will pop up saying that they can be added to plans, etc. and be managed by you, but will not have their own account.

Child = under 13

But I can see the end goal of FP+ being to evenly distribute the crowd though the 4 parks such that daily crowd calenders have little value.

I fear this too.

Okay, I've finally read through this whole thread--great first post summing everything up!

:thumbsup2 you are welcome

Probably coming very soon. As gcoolie noted above, the iOS platform-based app just updated today to v1.3. According to iTunes, what's new in this version is:

I'll be taking it for a test drive shortly.

I am going to try this now.

*Can you upgrade a virtual ticket? If so, what happens to your existing FP+ reservations? (We are planning to go in late Dec/early Jan [I know...] as a party of 10 for 7 days at Disney [and 2 at Universal...shhh....]. We want to buy 7 day hopper tickets via UT, and then have the member of our party who's going to be paying for all the meals to upgrade his ticket to an AP and buy a TiW card. But if it messes up his FP+ reservations, that will obviously be a problem).

:faint: I can't put that on the first page. I don't think we understand enough anything to tackle that.:)

*Are ADRs going to count as FP+ experiences? In the dining section of the T&C it states: "A FastPass+ selection for dining at a FastPass+ designated table service or quick service location secures your arrival window and allows you to order your meal prior to your arrival window. Each guest who has ordered ahead must have a FastPass+ selection for the same arrival time and location confirmed by the site/app." Other sections of the T&C seem to indicate that FP+ is more for quick service options. [speculation] I don't mind if there is a FP+ option for ADRs (frankly, if we're going to be sitting down, we'd rather enjoy each other's company and linger a little rather than ordering before we got there!), but if each ADR has to take up a FP+ option, that would really cut down on our TS dining (we'd rather ride rides and eat QS). The paranoid part of me could see Disney using this as a way to drive people to the dining plan (ADRs take a FP+ reservation, but book a regular dining plan, and get 1 additional FP+ per day (for your ADR), and book a deluxe plan and get 3). [/speculation]

I do believe this FP+ option only refers to Quick Service and Counter Service experiences. Who is going to use a FP+ for a QS meal? Sounds like a good poll.
