FP + What we know and what we want to know

I also wonder how Disney will assign times for FP+.

For example, what if I only plan to spend half a day in a certain park. We'll use AK for example. I might only plan to stay from opening until 1pm.

Using the normal FP system, I could easily get FPs for KS and AE in that time frame. However, if I choose to use FP+ might Disney assign me to ride KS at 10am and AE at 4pm?

This same scenario applies to those who like to take breaks in the afternoon and return in the evening. If you go the FP+ route and get assigned a time when you plan on taking a break, you pretty much are out of luck.

You should be able to choose your times from available choices.

There will be a "FastPick" option that will give you several FP+s with assigned times, which you can choose to accept or not.

I was wondering what would happen if you get FP+ allocations with staying at a Disney resort and you have an AP like we have. If I do not link my AP to the disney experience app and keep it paper can I use the FP+ allocations with our room but use the original FP with my unlinked paper AP?

I don't think so. You can only use FP+ with a valid ticket linked to the system. Your AP would need to be linked to your room reservation to use FP+.

Thanks for info.

Rumor is starting February with guests at the Beach Club.

OK, I didn't realize they were doing it resort by resort. So, if I am understanding this correctly, only guests of the Beach Club pick their FP's early? Everyone else does it the old way?

When this thing does come fully online, I will also not be happy if we are truly limited to only three selections per day. That would equal me potentially spending more time in line and less time spending money.

Even with FP return time now being enforced, if I were in MK from opening to close I could easily secure more than three sets of FPs for use over the course of 12+ hours.

I think Jennasis is correct. The key to actually using either FP or FP+ is that you have entered the park on a valid ticket (whether traditional or MagicBand-virtual-type). Only the ticket used to enter the park would enable you to redeem a FP or FP+.

Unless...

How long will DVC give out those special FP cards for attending their presentations? Did they already stop? If you had one of those, I would think you would be able to use a virtual ticket to enter the park and use FP+, and also use the DVC card to claim regular FPs from the machines.

Yes good point re DVC FP cards. So do you not get FP+ for just staying at a disney resort? Its only linked to ticket type? I dont know why but I thought you would get more FP+ for staying at WDW.

You have to have a ticket to get into the parks, so it makes sense that you'd need one to get FP+ :)

There has been NO indication that resort guests will get any more (or less) than anyone else.

I would guess that they will be able to add these to your account, thus making them redeemable on the bracelets...

But if the intent really is to help stop people from taking day trips to US, Sea World, Legoland etc how many FP+ will we get? If I have a 10 day trip booked with WDW, but only a 7 day ticket linked, will they give me the ability to make FP+ for all 10 days, or just 7?

On the updated app, you can see the reservations in the "more" section at the bottom. You'll find on the fourth box down "My Reservations".

I first checked the "my plans" section, but didn't see it there.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I found it!

That seems fair enough to me.

The section I find interesting is about Disney FastPass+ Service. It says "For guests who don't know where to start, Disney will recommend FastPicks - a set of three FastPass+ selections that serve as a starting point -- and give guests the option to customize their selections." That's the only place where it talks about 3 selections. Maybe we won't be limited to 3 selections???

I'm a newbie. I haven't been to WDW in 30 years. My family will all be 1st time and we are going in June. I've been planning this trip based upon all of the great information I've received here. My husband doesn't like lines so I was really planning on taking advantage of FP. If FP+ means more lines for us because of limitations, I want to opt out. We are staying onsite. Will this mean (as long as the two systems are co-existing in June), that we will get one key for our room and have separate paper tickets?

I'm so confused...

My understanding so far is that if you have resort reservation, they will send you a MagicBand (or you can pick it up when you arrive). You will be able to use this for opening the door to your resort room, and for charging purposes in the parks or anywhere that accepts that form of payment. (just had an aside thought: will waiters be carrying around RF scanners to scan your MagicBand for payment?)

You may choose to also link you paper ticket to your MagicBand account. You don't have to (at least according to the current terms and conditions). If you do, then your paper ticket no longer will get you into the park, and it will no longer work in the old FP machines. You can now also reserve FP+ experiences as far out as 60 days. You will use your MagicBand in the parks to redeem these. If your ticket is an AP, then the physical AP card may still be required to redeem certain passholder benefits (I'm guessing this will go away as they gradually upgrade all the possible locations of these benefits with RF readers).

If you don't link your ticket, you will use your traditional ticket to enter the park and still use the old FP machines. You may have your MagicBand on your wrist, and use it for purchases in the parks. But you will not use it to enter the park, and you will not be able to reserve FP+ experiences at all.

I was going to guess that the FP+ button to add ride reservations would appear once you get to 60 days out AND a ticket has been linked. But, after thinking about it, it would make more sense to get that button active for everyone as soon as possible. That way if I click that FP+ button, and I don't ave a ticket linked - I can be reminded to purchase them. "Buy your tickets today, and start planning your dream vacation right now!"

We will soon find out...

So, does this mean I won't get the FP+ if I don't have my tickets purchased yet? But, what if I have my 10 day non expiring tickets that I have used on some trips that have some plusses on them that I purchased from UT.
Would this be ok and would I still have my option, do you think, for FP+?

Thank you.

I see thanks. We find living in the UK they dont send us stuff like they do you guys so probably pick them up when we check in. I wonder if we get a choice of colours...

That's still an unknown. At one level, it makes sense to only allow FP+ reservations for the number of days on the ticket. But at another, some people have short tickets and intend to add days when they get there.

The EVP of NextGen himself said three selections for all guests.

That may be a question that can't be answered yet. Is your room booked already? Is it a room and ticket package? If by June your resort is being included in the FP+ system (no way to know that yet, I think), then you should be able to use FP+. I don't think we know if it will be an option for a package deal to not use FP+. But maybe you can still opt out, and they will give you traditional tickets to use for the old FPs. ...Editing to add... if this is the case, then I think you would each have a room key (the MagicBand) and you would each have a park ticket. Or maybe they will just give you each one RF-enabled card to use as both.

If your resort is not on the FP+ system yet (as it currently seems they will roll it out resort by resort), then you probably won't have a choice. You must use the traditional ticket with the old FP system.

So, does this mean I won't get the FP+ if I don't have my tickets purchased yet? But, what if I have my 10 day non expiring tickets that I have used on some trips that have some plusses on them that I purchased from UT.

Thank you.

The T&C state that you can link non-expired paper tickets to your account and use FP+... once it is available. But, depending on when you are visiting, and where you are staying, FP+ may not be an option for you yet.
