FP + What we know and what we want to know

I'm still irritated with this 3 FP thing. I think it is Disney's way of keeping guests on site longer. So, I guess it's genius on their part.

If we only get 3FP's a day, and they are tiered, meaning we can only pick one headliner per day, that means longer waits in standby lines for attractions. That means, we won't be doing those attractions, because no way are my kids going to stand in two hour lines. So, in order to experience the headliners, we will have to book more days at Disney and pick those headliners for different days, or risk having our entire vacation ruined with whiny, inpatient kids..husband too for that matter.

I feel the same way as this PP. I am even more concerned after reading the fine print. People are assuming they will be able to use FP+ for each day of their trip but that may not be allowed.

DISNEY FASTPASS+ Service

•Once available, Disney FastPass+ service allows you to select an arrival window to experience certain park attractions, character meet and greets, and quick-service restaurants, and to arrange a viewing location for certain entertainment such as fireworks, parades and shows.
•Availability of a FastPass+ experience, the number of experiences you may select and arrival windows are limited and vary based on factors such as the theme park you are visiting, the attraction or entertainment experience, the time of year and the day of the week, and prior demand. In addition, the number of days for which you can hold FastPass+ selections at any given time is limited. •Each confirmed FastPass+ attraction, entertainment or restaurant selection is valid for (1) guest admission to the entrance of the designated FastPass+ location on the date and during the arrival window confirmed by the Site/App.
•The operating hours of all attractions, entertainment and restaurant locations are subject to closures and change without notice.
•You may make FastPass+ selections for yourself, your Managed Friends, and your Connected Friends.
•Your Connected Friends may also make FastPass+ selections for you or modify the selections you've made without notification to you. You can view the selections and modifications made by Connected Friends for you when you log in to your account and view your itinerary.
•FastPass+ selections made for you by a Friend will count toward the number of FastPass+ selections you may make and hold.
•A confirmed FastPass+ selection is not valid for admission to any theme or water park and valid park admission is required to make a selection and redeem a FastPass+ selection. To make a FastPass+ selection for you or your Friends, you must retrieve a Resort package reservation including valid park admission through your account or associate valid park admission to your account.
•Each FastPass+ selection will designate an arrival window for an attraction, restaurant location or entertainment experience. The FastPass+ selection is not valid before or after the designated arrival window or at any other FastPass+ location.
•You may make FastPass+ selections for one park per day. You may only select and redeem a FastPass+ selection for a particular attraction, entertainment or restaurant experience once per day.
•When you initially make FastPass+ selections for a particular park, you will select a FastPass+ experience set and if your plans change, you may modify the entire FastPass+ experience set until the first FastPass+ experience is redeemed or the first unredeemed experience expires. You may modify an unredeemed individual FastPass+ experience any time prior to the end the day.
•All FastPass+ selections, whether arranged by you or a Connected Friend, expire at the end of the day for which they were confirmed. Unused and expired selections count toward the FastPass+ experience limit for the day.
•Magic Your Way ticket holders may make FastPass+ selections beginning 60 days prior to day of use. The selection window may vary for other admission tickets or passholders.
•Ticket holders holding passes or tickets with block-out dates may not make FastPass+ selections for any block-out date without the purchase of separate valid park admission and assigning that admission entitlement to your account.
•We reserve the right to re-assign or re-schedule a FastPass+ selection due to an unplanned attraction or entertainment down time or change in operating hours

They are limiting the number of days that people can hold FP+ attractions?

We are a rope drop family that utilizes at least 5 FPs per day. I don't see how any of these changes will "enhance" my family's experience at Disney.

In my opinion, the bolded part might be for AP holders because it was noted in another thread they might be limited to 20 per quarter. I cant see them asking someone who will be in the parks fir 8 days to limit their fastpass days to... Say ... 4. T

That is an ugly, ugly sentence! I added that to the first page of things we want to know.

Something just hit me... You know how you can book ADRs 10 days from your arrival date 180 days before your arrival date. Will Disney make it harder to get headliner FPs by using the same system as ADRs?

Otherwise, people could head to legoland or sea world.

Aack!! I'm suddenly very worried.

We used to go to Disney in June, but, for the past 2 years, we went in September & were planning a return September 2013 trip. So, I figured it's time to start researching again...

And all this FP+ stuff is scaring me.

From what I'm reading is the following accurate?

* If we use FP+, we can't also use regular FP.

So, if we have a reservation to ride Soarin' at 10:30 am, we can't use regular FP to ride it later in the day? If we wanted to ride Soarin' again on that day, we'd have to wait in the stand-by line.

Typically, we ride Soarin' at least twice/day - using fastpasses both times.

When I was discussing this w/ DH, he said, "Well, that's my line." Meaning, if we can only ride an attraction, like Splash Mountain, once w/ FP+ & the rest of the time, we stand in line... well, that's it for us then on our Disney visits.

* Can FP+ be used for things like character meet & greets & parades but regular FP still be used for rides?

* If we don't elect to use FP+, we can still use regular FP, right?

At this point, from what I'm reading, I don't think FP+ is going to enhance our Disney experience; instead, I think it will do the opposite.

However, my fear is that the all the FP+'s are going to decrease the availability for regular FP's & the wait times will be longer.

The missing onsite advantage some of us have been looking for???

I know this is all speculation and rumors so this is just an example:

But why should I - an AP holder staying onsite in my DVC Villa for 14 days in June be limited to only 5 days of FP+? I think ths is where they have figured out the 20 per quarter for AP holders is flawed.

If the old system was unfair to those who couldn't get up for rope drop, how does the new system improve it? Now it will require them to get up at some unknown-as-yet time to get online and try and book their FP+s, which if they follow the ADR lead will be even earlier than rope drop - and to add to it, require that they have a computer with an internet connection or a smartphone...

The new system makes anyone who use to use more than 3 FP a day now have to wait longer since we will be restricted to only 3 FP a day, which should reduce the wait time for everyone who didn't use their 3 FP previously as those high FP users will not be cutting in line ahead of those without FP.

I'm a high FP user and hate the new system.

Agreed it's all speculation. But in my mind I'm just assuming DVC and resort stays will be in addition to regular AP totals, but that they can't be stacked. Pure guess based on logic, which could get me in trouble I know......

I agree..... Not sure they would do that either... If you have valid admission, no matter what type, you should get your fp choices at 60 days out.

I'm not going to change my phone just for this system. Besides I still believe that Disney might be able to notify through the app on the same phone for a family. I can't imagine that each individual will need to have their own phone as others have suggested.

Very creative! When can we expect the link to the youtube video where you sing it in french for us?

Thanks :thumbsup2

Even with the excellent summary at the start of the thread I'd started to lose track of which discussions are based on speculation and which ones are based on fact.

Thankfully I have a fair few months to go before any of this will be applicable so I'll wait and see what everyone's experiences are once it's up and running.

I re-worked the first page summary. It might be better now.

If anybody sees anything wrong or missing let me know.

Part of the hope I guess is moving people from Splash and getting them in PotC and IASW and the Carpets. Balance all the lines out. As others have said, that also is detrimental. Because if you don't want to fight the big rides and the long lines, at least you could enjoy yourself by visiting all the oldie but goodies and enjoy very short rides. FP headliners and walk on others. Great system. But we might be subjected to longer rides everywhere we turn.

Hoping this is how it works but like we all say its pure speculation right now.

I agree
