FP+ strategy?

We will be able to make our fast pass selections on April 15th. Yay! I know the common strategy is to reserve them for the afternoon/evening. My question is how to space them out? With one hour in between? 2?

What I've seen is about an hour to an hour and a half between them. You could space them out by two hours if you want to attempt some rides in between them or shop. It depends on what you want to do.

Hypothetically they're already spaced out by two hours. If your first slot is 8-9 and the next is 9-10, you can technically go at 8 then 10

I don't know about that. It did occur to me that if you have say, Splash Mt. between 2 and 3, check it out at 2. If the standby line is manageable in your opinion, then get in standby - you can turn around and do it again (back to back) using your FP. At least that is my thought - especially for those attractions I really would like to do multiple times. If you wait until closer to 3pm and standby is not long, you could still do standby and try to reschedule another FP. But I would rather not have to work with FP on the fly.

I have not been to WDW since FP+, but it seems as though this would work.

This strategy would totally depend on your plans that day. What park, corwd levels when are you arriving, when are you leaving, where are your ADRs, do you have kids, what is their nap schedule, etc etc etc etc etc

I totally agree on this one.

The way that I set it up, I did two early fp selections so we could do a fast pass, hit a few rides with short waits on standby, and catch the second fp near the end. I slapped in a brake for lunch, and then just some stroll around or "stroller naptime" for my DN5 before we did a 6pm ADR and finish off with an after dinner fp so we could get back to the hotel and enjoy the pool, go to downtown Disney, or just relax if we are tired.

I want to cram a lot in but have never done a trip with more than myself and one or two other adults. This will be my first experience with a 5 year old, and from reading this forum the best advice I've seen is include nap time!!

She is goin to be upset though because I could not secure her a fp+ Elsa. Nothing is available on the days we are at MK

Did you try break up your FP+ times for two people at a time? That usually works. And the times are then Staggered

Yeah I gave it a good go, but unfortunately for Monday and Thursday when we plan on being at MK the FP+ options are booked up. I am hoping we can book it at rope drop on either Epcot in Norway or MK days and get lucky to not wait forever in standby

When are you going? They are in Norway only till 4/19 and in MK only starting 4/20. If after 4/20, keep checking for FP+ as people may cancel theirs, and if not, try rope drop for sure.

To the OP, I picked mine this weekend and have a mix of times. I didn't pick anything before 11 am as the lines will be shorter then. I didn't schedule much from 12-3 in case we want an afternoon swim break. So sometimes I have one late morning FP, then two in the late afternoon. In Epcot I have them consecutive as the FW rides are not too far apart (didn't have Maelstrom on the list of choices for some reason).

I like the post above about showing up at the beginning of your window, so if the line is short, you can ride once standby and once FP.

That is bad news, I'm not going until may 11th.

I set them up for late afternoon until around 7 PM on my last trip. I found that those were the time periods where you got the most bang for your buck if you show up for RD, go back to your hotel in the afternoon, then back to the parks mid to late afternoon (2:30/3:00). I also park hopped each day so that helped. I found that FP+ wasn't really necessary after 7:30/8 PM or so for most attractions.

You also should use the MDE app. It was a lifesaver. I used to it to change FP+ reservations around whenever the line was 25 mins or less (most of the time they were way shorter then the posted time btw). The biggest tip is don't use a FP+ when you feel you can wait in the standby line.
