FP+ Royally sucks

Strange. I booked 5 days prior to my trip and got everything I wanted at reasonable times, sans 7DMT which I didn't get at all.

Latest FP+ was a 12:30PM for Test Track.

So do you think that people booking sooner should be tricked into taking non-optimal times so that desirable times are left for people booking later?

FWIW I think the people booking so early are the same people who would check daily for better times if possible.

Then why go through the game of making those times harder to access?

When I was there two weeks ago, the system would seem to get overloaded around midnight-2am. The parks are open late now and you have people trying to make their initial selections at 30 and 60 days as well as people out late trying to reschedule their times for the next morning. It would often be slow then and there was one person that it would often leave out of the booking even though we selected our entire party. By early the next morning it would work fine again. I would book the selections you want and try to try to change the times individually both right after booking all days, and then if that didn't work again the next morning.

Unfortunately it's not that strange. I've paid close attention to these threads for about eight months now and it is very common for two people to see very different results when trying to accomplish very similar tasks on this system.

I am living for your avatar and signature, surfer Dave. I would go to a Lego Movie theme park if that was an option. :cheer2:

I would like to suggest that persons who had difficulty with the system, pls call and or write to Disney and let them know!!
When I had a hellish time getting my ressies for Wishes Dessert Party, I called Guest Services and sent emails (yes, plural) expressing my frustration and displeasure. And you can be sure that if I run into the problems that some here are describing when I go to book my FP+s I will be expressing myself again!

Disney doesn't KNOW you had trouble and they don't KNOW you are frustrated and unhappy UNLESS you TELL them!!!

Did you do a fast pass or an ADR for Wishes? They didn't have Wishes when I was there last and I'm trying to understand if it's a dining thing or an event/fireworks thing? :scared:

Crazy Mom,
I am one who did contact them (not only call, but the e-mail to them that call center gave me for issues.I can tell you at least through my experience with my first trip back to WDW since 2010 (We were in DL the last two) is that my Disney agent already told me that Disney is getting a backlash of irate customers with this new system, and I believe it. People are telling Disney their frustrations, and I for one will not go back after this trip as long as the system stays this way. Booking Restaurants is bad enough, but now I have to plan what attractions I want to be on. No thanks, stress enough in daily life without this added on. I love Disney and hope they change this.

Things will change, but it's a matter of how long it will take.

:)

If anyone needs a step-by-step guide to how to make FP+ reservations and then change the times, here's one I made a few months back for my Disney Facebook group:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/...q67OzCCkyfcAR3Jpu5DEkks/edit?usp=docslist_api

This is great! :thumbsup2 I've been to WDW more than a dozen times, but this will be my first time having to navigate FP+. I have to admit that I've had my moments of dread!

I have bookmarked your document and will be reviewing it several more times before the end of July!

Thanks again! :)

My experience was a pleasant one. I waited til about 10 a.m, 60 days out, and I made my selections. I changed them up a few times since, and had no difficulty at all. I am using the online MDE, and not the mobile app.

My experience was similar. I was up at midnight I make my FPs but the site wasn't working so I waited till I woke up at 6 am for work and made them then. I was then able to switch and tweak them all day via both the website and the app.

Perhaps I should add that I am traveling alone. So maybe that has a bearing on the ease with which the process went.

So to sum up...basically FP+ seems to be similar in trying to get restaurant reservations. You take the reservation and try to improve upon by checking the times until you get what you want.

I'm in the group of people that love the changes associated with FP+ much more than legacy. :goodvibes

My window opened for me right at 11 pm CT tonight, and I was able to get A&E on our only MK day in the morning. Sorta. I had to pick 4 different overlapping windows for the 4 of us, but I did manage to get it with a little playing. My window ends at 12:10 and my husband's begins at 12:10 (kids' windows fall neatly in between), so hopefully they do abide by the grace period (we'll try for 5 minutes early for the husband). There were plenty of afternoon and evening slots for all four of us together without having to manipulate it.

No problems with 7DMT. Lots of availability there.

You should be able to copy the FP+ from one person to all 4 of you.

Trying to change my times at 7am = nothing. You can't be serious that there are no FP+ available for Space Mountain 60 days from now on a crowd level predicted 3 day before 3pm. This system takes all the magic of the past 3 months of planning and flushes it. Makes me just want to cancel the whole thing.

Dumb question, but is Magic Kingdom even open at 7 am that day?

I was able to get all the times that I wanted but I will admit that the system is horribly clunky. Trying to split your party of 4 to send them to different attractions is not easy or intuitive. Plus the way that it spits out 3 random times to start the process without even asking if you want AM or PM times is bad design. I got a survey in my e-mail last week from Disney asking my opinion about using MDE and I let them know what I thought about it. They have improved it over last year when we added my DD's BFF to our res, I had a horrible time getting her on the ADRs and FP+. I spent many hours on the phone with Disney IT support having them fix that big mess.
