FP+ Royally sucks

Based on what you did on your last trip, you really didn't use FP+ for Epcot, AK or MK. So the only place you used the new system was HS and you only used a FP for RNR. Is this right?

Correct, we got our Fast Pass for RNR at the HS Kiosk, kind of like what we used to do with the "old" fast pass system.

For those who asked how the FP+ experience is supposed to work, here are a few screen shots

Pick your Party

Pick your date and Theme Park

In this case I am choosing Epcot so the system asks me to choose a Tier 1 attraction, in this case I chose Soarin:

System then gives you the selection you chose and 2 that is suggests for you

You accept whatever they gave you and it says you're all set. Then you begin the process of modifying the selections:

After this you go back in and modify each selection one at a time till you find what suits your itinerary.

Wait, are you letting Disney choose your Tier 2 attractions because you don't care which ones you have for that Tier?

Thank you for the screen shots whoever posted them... (FINFAN?)

My date for selections is July 8th. I am really nervous about this... not about being able to manage the system when it's being cooperative, but being one of the "lucky" ones who run into the system when it's acting all "hormonal" and unpredictable.

One question... at the point where you are ready to change the selections (last screen shot) that the site "forced upon" you, there are two options that sound similar:
"Replace Existing Selections" OR "Change a FP+ selection for a new selection or time."
Which would I pick?

I would like to suggest that persons who had difficulty with the system, pls call and or write to Disney and let them know!!
When I had a hellish time getting my ressies for Wishes Dessert Party, I called Guest Services and sent emails (yes, plural) expressing my frustration and displeasure. And you can be sure that if I run into the problems that some here are describing when I go to book my FP+s I will be expressing myself again!

Disney doesn't KNOW you had trouble and they don't KNOW you are frustrated and unhappy UNLESS you TELL them!!!

Really? How about asking you to pick a ride and then give you all the available times for that ride on a given day?
Wow, too bad Disney didn't hire me!!

But then popular time frames would be booked up in a flash, leaving weird times of day.

I still think it is completely ridiculous (though I suspect I know WHY they do it) that Disney makes you go through the process of them forcing their own selections upon you before allowing you the joy of now going back through and modifying one by one. A complete time suck, and totally unnecessary...BUT, I think it's because they're hoping enough people who aren't "in-the-know" will simply accept what Disney spoon feeds them FP+ wise as being what is available...this way they can attempt to control guest flow.

I get it. I don't like it. At all.

This is the crux of the entire problem. It's not that FP+ is a bad concept. It's not. But, by making people jump through all of these hoops to get what they want undermines the benefits.

Stupid is not a strong enough word for Disney forcing you to switch what they 'selected' for you. Idiotic is more appropriate.

Change. Replace starts over.

I'm glad I read this thread. I can't make my ressies yet and this will be my first time for FP+. I assumed it was like ADRs. Select what you want and time and it would give you closest available. I would never have known if it gave me a time that was impossible (during ADR, etc) that I should accept it and then change it after that. You can't do that with ADR once you've selected 6:30 at Chef Mickeys you can't just edit your time. Anyway, just saying not intuitive and glad I have a heads up.

It WON'T do that. It looks at your ADR times and specifically avoids them.

Ok. Great to know BUT do you get my point? Without the Dis I would have kept checking back for times. I wouldn't have known to pick a sucky time because in 2 screens for now I can modify it and get close to the time I want.

Not anymore ! I have been playing around with mde in prep for making our fp+ ressies at the end of July. I'm trying to have this down pat to try and avoid any pitfalls. As an example I just used July 26 as a test date. I made a dinner res for 8:00 pm at Liberty Tree, then went on to make FP's for Pirates, Under the Sea and Its a small world. With the initial options under " C" it gave as my "small world" time 8:20 pm-9:20 pm" and stated " this overlaps with adr" but still let me book it. I then looked around for other fp times thinking that maybe that was the only time all day avail for small world but it wasn't.
YMMV. I of course cancel everything immediately after testing :)

But then popular time frames would be booked up in a flash, leaving weird times of day.

So do you think that people booking sooner should be tricked into taking non-optimal times so that desirable times are left for people booking later?
