FP+ questions... Really lost

Really why is everyone having a hard time with this... I'm sorry but this is a no brainer on the win side, I can sit in my living room and pick rides that I know I want to go on, on certain days talk about a win so if I wa.t to go on splash mountain and space mountain, I can already have fp to do this before getting to the park so now cross crossing the park rushing to get fast pass for one and then heading to the other side to wait in line....

Another problem would be when you log in, there may be limited times to choose. There may not be any TSMM or RnR.

No fp for tsm in advance is that any different then when you get to the park at 11am and all the fast passes are gone already for the entire day or they are already saying 8pm to 9pm at least with fp+ I know I'm going on it once.....

Let's look at it this way. On a typical day at Disney, we can easily pick up 5-7 sets of FPs if we get to a park at rope drop. At MK, those FPs will probably look something like this: 2 Space Mountain, 3 Big Thunder Mountain, 1 Splash Mountain and 1 Peter Pan.

The bottom line is under the current system, we decide which attractions we want to pull FPs for.

Under the new system we'd get 4 sets of FP+s per day (rumored), which doesn't sound like THAT much of a downgrade. But when you think about the fact that Space, Splash and BTM will all be in the same FP+ tier and you'll have the choice of making reservations for one, maybe two. The other two FPs will be from a lower tier of attractions, meaning you'd have to pick rides you'd otherwise never dream of reserving (Haunted Mansion, Mickey's Philharmagic, etc.).

That's the part that frustrates me is that Disney is basically limiting your access to the E-ticket rides (much like when there were actual E-tickets to use). I don't mind the idea of having to plan rides 60 days out, my park plans are typically set when I make my ADRs at 180 days out.

The current system allows you to get as much out of the system based on the effort you put in. If you get to the parks early and have a halfway decent plan, you can ride your favorite rides multiple times during the day. If you're willing to trek across the park in 90-degree heat, you can pull that next FP. That effort-based system is being thrown out for something many will claim is more "fair." That debate will surely happen many times over once the system in officially unveiled.

Until then, I'm going to enjoy this last trip we have under the current system in just a few weeks.

And P.S., the interesting option for those questioning how park hopping will fit in is to make all your FP+ reservations for your second park of the day. For example, you get to MK at RD and ride the attractions you want for the first few hours with little to no waits. Then after lunch you hop to DHS where you have reservations to ride TSM, Star Tours and the Great Movie Ride. Yes, it means having to plan your hopping plans way in advance, but at least it's a way to make it work.

When you consider how many fast passes a person can legitimately get and use in a course of a day there are going to be rides you have to.go standby, which is usually the case anyways....but and If you park hop then you do standby, because when its all said and done you would still have fp for every park....

I can easily FP anything but TSMM and Soarin 5+ times in a day with the regular system. In multiple parks. Without having to decide weeks or months in advance exactly what I want to ride when.

On my Halloween trip, I don't think I stood in more than 3 or 4 standby lines the whole trip (outside of trick or treating and seasonal character greetings) because I used FP strategically. If it surprises you that I don't want to see that go away, I don't know what to tell you...

Oh! And if we want to park hop??? It says we can only use FP+ at one park per day...but also that you can't use regular FP anywhere once you have used FP+.

SO, now I use FP+ at MK in the morning, decide to hop to Epcot for the evening, but then am left with ONLY standby as my option for rides?!?!?!

As I said before, not cool Disney...

Disney might want to lower the cost of the PH option if this is the case

The only upside I can think of to this is that it eliminates the rush to a certain ride at rope drop

In a sense, they already did do that with the new ticket prices this past June.

If you already have the Water Park Fun & More option on a multi-day MYW ticket,
adding the Hopper costs just $22.00 (plus tax.)

If all you want is one FP for each of those, that's relatively easy with no rushing or criss crossing at all. On a normal park day for us, we usually end up with 5 or more sets of FPs over the course of the day, and only for the rides we want. As far as I can tell, it will be a huge downgrade for our experience.

It's not a "win" for those of us who like a little spontaneity in our vacations.

I don't mind booking ADRs, as that's something I'd have to do for a nice dinner out in my hometown as well - no big deal. But knowing not just what rides I want to go on, but when exactly I'll want to go on them? I am pretty Type A, and that's still too much for me.

But then, I never criss crossed the park for fastpasses either. We use FP as it's convenient for us. We never ran from FP booth to booth to collect FPs. WE got FPs for whatever land we were in at the time, and generally the return time was fairly close. If it wasn't, by the time the return window came up it wasn't a big deal to back track a little.

Ok, so day three, you had scheduled the Studios, but now its pouring rain out with hurricane winds. You can't rebook for the next day, cause that's Epcot... And oh yeah, since you are already there, there are no FP+s available to book if even you were willing to deconstruct the rest of your bookings..

This has all the potential of exactly the kind of vacation I never want to take.

And I don't book my meals at 180 days out and I will never book rides that way.

Except the terms of use clearly say one park per day for fp+ reservations. No hopping reservations.

You really should read those. I'm not being sarcastic, there's a ton of info in there.

Missyrose was saying to ONLY get FP+ at what will be your SECOND park of the day.
That would only be one park with FP+ reservations that day.

I'm always a little perplexed at someone who can't see how something will be a detriment to themselves so they automatically assume it's great for everyone. I don't doubt there will be people who consider it convenient to have all of their spontaneity taken away, and as much as I can't jive with that, it's your opinion.
However, there are just a plethora of reasons that this stinks in my opinion.
So many that it makes me tired to try to list them all.
What about people who don't book their trips at 60 days out? AP holders who now are limited in their fast pass usage? Having to plan months ahead of time for where you want to be on what day? Not being able to use more than one fastpass for your favorite ride?
There's convenience and then there's being scheduled to death.

Had a thought......maybe the "NEW" perk for staying on property is the FastPass+ They are cutting back so much on the EMH that I think they will stop the EMH's and offer the FastPass+ for staying on property. I think this b/c..
1. The test groups have been resort guests. Disney can link their selections to their reservations
2. The FastPass+ cards are the same as the new resort keys

Just my 0.02 :rolleyes1

I agree! :thumbsup2

With the distinct possibility that any number of those 4 FPs are for attractions I don't care to ride.

Not seeing the upside.

And, it may not be that I don't care to ride that FP+ attraction, it's more likely that it's an attraction that I just don't NEED to use a (very limited number offered) FP+ option to ride it.
Its standby line only has a 10 minute wait, without a FP.

Think: Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, or WDW Railroad,
or Mickey's PhilharMagic, or Enchanted Tiki Room, or Hall of Presidents,
or Country Bears, or Pirates of the Caribbean.
(Some of those may not offer FP+, but some of them might.)

1. Thats because they are the only guests that they know are coming right now.

2. Doesn't really mean much.
