FP+ Pros/Cons

Position? LOL!

This isn't a mental chess game. Most of us don't spend hours harvesting past posts by other DIS'ers to use as fodder to start arguments.

We participate on the board because we have questions or there are changes that we like to discuss.

And as part of those discussions, speculation develops. People often have opinions about that speculation, and because most of us listen to each other's opinions without trying to ridicule or insult them, we sometimes hear new information or views that can change our own opinion.

For example, I didn't think the one park per day limit would change. But another poster made a very good point that I hadn't considered and it impacted my own viewpoint. Now I understand the reasons why WDW might find it wise to give park hoppers the ability to make FP+ reservations at more than one park during the day.

And that is pretty much how it works. I have no "position".

The mental exercise is figuring out what moniker UNC is posting under today solely to pick arguments over FastPass.

Though it isn't terribly difficult exercise, is it?

;)

Only he doesn't do this with everyone. It's a specific group he likes to target and goes after them. :thumbsup2

More ad homimen attacks.

Would you or anyone else like to produce one shred of actual proof that I am someone who has posted here before? Are you questioning the competency of the mods and admins of the DIS and their measures in place to stop people from posting under different names?

Surely, they can see my IP address. If they thought I were some other person, this UNC person a group of you seemed to be obsessed with, dont you think they would have banned me before now? I have great confidence in the people who run the DIS

Truth is, it is easier to attack a person who you disagree with to make a feeble attempt to try to discredit them.

~Yes! And for us, there is no more running up and down in the scorching hot sun from fastpass machine to fastpass machine. OMG, this aspect alone is so nice! I had to catch myself a few times after exiting rides because we were so conditioned to take off to the next fastpass machine. We actually got to relax and accomplished more in our day by not having to criss cross the parks! :cool1:

I guess I have some concerns since we're probably going in August again. How did you get to relax and accomplish more in the day if you didn't pull FPs? I don't want to stand in lines in the hot sun. I know about getting there early, before RD, but what about in the afternoon if I only have 3 FP+? What about the other long waits for rides? How do you handle that? The longest wait I ever had was when Splash Mt. first opened, and it was about an hour, and my DH and I said NEVER again! I still remember it to this day!! Also, I can remember walking past tons of people in line for Soarin and my DD asked me why those people didn't get a FP. I told her I didn't know why they would wait in such a long line when they can just pull a FP and walk right in. So easy!!

I think it's safe to assume that if you are staying offsite you will be able to get FP+ in AK and MK the day you go to those parks because that is the way it is today. Whether or not they add the ability for offsite guests to reserve FP+ before they get to the park and when they add the other two parks are questions nobody has correct answers for.

So considering the current conditions, if you want to be able to reserve FP+ ahead of your park visit at all four parks, then go ahead and plan on staying on-site. If those conditions change to provide more benefit to offsite guests, then you can re-evaluate your decision and if the difference is large enough to you to warrant it, cancel your room and go offsite.

THanks...I think we will wait a little bit and see what develops.

The airfare for my travel dates are not even out yet .:cool1:

It is amazing how he only picks apart certain people's posts, I wonder what makes us so special?

Well, I don't know about you guys...... but I'm touched.

What is your point in this thread?

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3219716

None of the group that you rabidly stalk on this board are even present in this thread, yet your replies are aimed specifically at mom, Lake and myself. What was the point of your replies in that particular thread?

It appears to be baiting to me, Proxyman.

ETA - actually one that you do stalk is present in that thread (Mesa) and he is giving a truthful answer to the actual question that was asked in that thread.

ETA2 - for prosperity's sake....I am the ONLY person who has said "reindeer games" AND has a DLR ticker in my signature. What are the chances?

Personally, I am done with Disney while they insist on playing these reindeer games. When I say Disney, of course I mean done with WDW but not DLR which is WAY better.

I need no proof to be convinced.

I had not yet seen that thread... But wow!

Ironic you talk about stalking when you have accused me from day one of being someone that you obviously are obsessed with.

It is paranoia and narcissism to suggest that my posts in the thread you reference are aimed at any one. I was merely expressing widely held views on FP+ in that thread.

I have heard more than one person say that FP+ is ride rationing. Even people that lean towards supporting the FP+ system have called it as such.

The same with yield management. There is no denying that FP+ is a form of that. again, no one poster has exclusivity on the yield management theory as multiple posters have called it that.

And there are MANY people that have said that they are "done" with Disney in one form or another until all the FP+ system testing settles down and adjustments are made.

I am not sure why you spend so much energy concerning your obsession with this UNC person or making accusations against posters rather than discussing the content of their posts.

But hey, everyone has to have a hobby. I am the one that should be flattered that such a great group of DIS vets have taken such an interest in me.

Maybe we got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you tell us about your favorite ride at Disney? What is your favorite restaurant? What is your touring style? How will FP+ benefit you and your daughter?

Maybe we have all just misunderstood you. I've never seen a post from you that explains any of above so why don't you open up to us so that we can better understand you?

Maybe we misunderstood you because approximately 42 of your 58 posts involve a group of people that were called out in a deleted thread by a "previous poster". Can you blame us for thinking what we do?

Help us out....help us better understand you. :)

Looks like we need some Disney chill pills passed out. Disney = magical & happy. So...here ya go! :wizard:

~We love August, too! For us, it is so hot during the day, it was very nice to just enjoy the parks without having to race from fp machine to fp machine just for fast passes.

~Most fastpasses ran out by 1PM anyway and a lot earlier for the rides like TSM and Peter Pan.

~So if you planned to benefit from legacy fp, you had to arrive in the parks early to collect the fp's to begin with.

~If you're arriving in the parks in the afternoon, your riding standby regardless because fp's would have run out by then.

~With FP+, you already have three fp+ booked with times that you get to choose, instead of finding covered fp machines when you arrive. And, instead of running to a fp machine just to pull a fp, you get to walk right in the fp line. Nice!!!

~You don't get to pull a legacy fp and "walk right in." You have to arrive at the parks early before most fp's run out. Then you have to wait until your return time window opens and that could be an hour later or 6+ hours later, you have no choice regarding your return time.

~Also, you will not be able to pull another fp until the time Disney gives you. It could be 45 minutes or up to 2 hours before you can pull another pf. I like FP+ way more than legacy fp. :goodvibes

For my family the ONLY pro is not having to get to the park at rope drop to get a fp thats potentially hrs away

Cons include but not limited to...
Locks you into a park/day
Leaves no park hopping opportunity without line waits
High chance of wasting fp
You accomplish much less

Things like the weather, unpredictable child situations, and crowds/wait times all made fp+ either a waste or unenjoyable.
For example rides/shows that normally have a long wait didn't and so the fp was wasted
The weather closed down Everest and thus fp was wasted
With young kids it impacted us because what we thought would work for our schedule ended up not fitting. That's not fp fault but when you are basing your day on what you think will be nap time, eating and such then it gets thrown off for one reason or another you can not work around it

All of these situations would have been avoided with regular fp because you would never "claim" one to begin with and move onto a different ride where the wait was longer or actually running

Of course only getting three at one park kills the pak hopping without having to wait in line
You also accomplish much less (when things are running the way you plan) because you can not acquire fp in a systematically way to take advantage of the return times instead you spend more time standing in lines

You don't have to waste a fastpass...pull out your phone if something is going on that is beyond your control or if there is no reason to use it and reschedule the fastpass. I did this a few times and it was very helpful. :thumbsup2

"Wasting a FP" can also mean booking/using a FP+ for something that does not need a FP at all.

One of the bigger drawbacks of FP+ is not being able to book a FP for a favorite attraction more than one time per day.

I wasted 1 on Fantasmic....learned my lesson and will move on. But it is very helpful to make changes when needed.
