This summer will be the first time my family & l have used the FP+ system,
so thought it would be interesting to see by way of a poll whether people prefer the new system.

I prefer Legacy FP.

But my husband likes fp+ better.

I see the benefits of both. IM in for the long haul with disney so we will see how it all works out.

My favorite era of Legacy was non enforced return time passes... ohh the good old days.

I prefer legacy. I do not like that I have to choose between certain rides. With legacy, we could choose from any of them! I didn't mind running around grabbing passes since they were the ones we wanted. However, I agree that there are pros and cons to both.

I voted for FP+ after very strongly opposing it. I still think it can be better, and legacy had things about it that were better. But FP+ makes planning out the day easier. If I was local or went to the parks all the time, I would hate FP+ if one of my favorite rides had limited availability. I also hate the fact that lines have increased for rides that used to be walkons, but it's not that hard to deal with. You just have to know when to go instead of being able to ride them in the middle of the day. It's closer to a tie, but I lean towards FP+ and I'm hopeful they will continue to improve it by allowing booking in multiple parks, removing tiers if enough new rides get added, booking additional FP from your phone, and adding capacity to FP thus making the 4th FP actually useful in parks not name MK.

Seriously...talk about beating a dead horse...

I don't think it's beating a dead horse at all...

About a year ago, I would have said it was. Every other post was complaining about FP+. But people have calmed down on the hate and I think it will be interesting to see how much people's opinions have changed. Though I would have liked a few more choices.

The 'only' way I would prefer FP+ is if 'all' rides were available (no tiers) and a new one from any park could be added as you use one - 'not' one park only and initial 'multiple' of 3 only.

So, sure, I prefer legacy FP. Very obvious there aren't enough rides to go around for all the tickets they sell, so they're basically 'raffling' them off. :(

I love FP+! Love being able to choose the time of day I want to do something in advance and not be at the mercy of the return time clock. I want to ride Soarin right before lunch, I can schedule it. Don't have to be at the machine at the time I want comes up.

Definitely prefer Legacy FP.

Beating a dead horse to you perhaps, but meaningful and worth discussing to others. FP+ is a fairly recent and huge change at WDW, and deserves the continuing conversation, IMO. Besides, if we're still talking about things like the old Journey into Imagination and the removal of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, then I think something as impactful to people's WDW vacations- like FP+ -will continue to be discussed far, far into the future, even after it's ultimately transitioned into something else down the road. Also, people sometimes feel very passionate about things like FP+, because they're very passionate about WDW itself. I think it's always informative to read the many varying viewpoints here on the DIS and I hope critical posts of FP+ don't ever get stifled and removed- that would be a disservice to many readers that are planning trips. Personally, I've learned some of the most useful planning information from the various critical FP+ threads/posts. So, a big thank you to all those posters!
:thanks:

I have learned to leverage FP+ as well as I ever leveraged FP-, so I would say that I like them both. But, if I could, I would go back to FP-. It was easier to game.

I like aspects of both, and really ended up liking the new system more than I ever thought I would.

To me, the single best thing about it was being able to schedule FPs for a little bit later in the day and know I could ride a popular ride without worry. My family went to DHS late in the day last year and we actually were able to ride Toy Story!!! We showed up around 5:00 and had a FP for 6:00. That would have been unheard of with the old system. If you weren't there at rope drop to ride standby or by around 11:00 to get a FP (often for late at night by that time) you were out of luck.

Also, I know a lot of people don't like the planning and locked in feeling, but for my OCD mind it works! I like having plans, I like ADRs, I like planned FPs. I can still go with the flow in between those times, but it gives me a structure to my day that feels comforting to me somehow. I know, I know...time to talk to a therapist! :rolleyes1

Before I planned a trip with FP+, I was very much against it. I still don't really like having to think about my schedule that far in advance. We don't even make our ADRs until the day we want to eat somewhere. But. We've been twice now with it, both at a level 2 week (Early Feb) and level 8/9 (Easter). And, well, I like it. I did not think I would, but I do. We are a rope drop, back to the hotel, return to a park for the evening atmosphere family. We have completely changed fast passes for parks and rides the day of, without issue at all, even during Easter week. My feelings of being locked into my decision 2 months before were unfounded, IMHO. I know it doesn't work for everybody, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked for us.

The most equitable way to do it is scrap the whole thing and go back to everyone waits. The primary complaint with the old system was FP would be gone during the day you wanted to ride it and it gave people who showed up at RD and unfair advantage. Under the new system FP are now gone 60 days out and the people who check in on Monday have and unfair advantage over the people who check in on Tuesday.

Love the new FP+! For us a much better system, we LOVE the rides, this has given us back our EMH mornings, as we already have our first 3 FP for the day, so have much more time to take advantage of those first precious 3 hours in the park!

I don't like living by the clock on vacation so I find the whole FP+ thing very stressful. I'm just not confident enough in my ability to judge how long things are going to take to feel good about planning ride times this far in advance. For example, we're park hopping this trip because we have limited time in the parks. But to make FP+ for the afternoon park I have to guess at how long our lunch (table service) is going to take, how long it'll take us to leave the park, how long we'll wait for a bus to get to where we want to spend the afternoon, etc. And if any of it runs long, we're apt to miss some of our must-dos. Of course the old way had its drawbacks too - we wouldn't be riding Soarin' on an Epcot afternoon because FPs would be long gone by the time we arrive - but seeing all those can't-miss appointments on the itinerary makes me sort of anxious.

I don't think that it is beating a dead horse either. Part of planning a WDW vacation is learning the ins and outs of FP+. I think that new people can read about people's experiences and that might help them figure out ways to maximize using these things.

i like the idea of a poll although i wish the results would do the talking because it would give a more unbiased view instead of people also chiming in with their specific individual opinion that can sway others to liking it or not liking it before they have used it.

(i know i'm guilty of chiming in with my opinion on other threads about FP+ but i will not give my views on this thread to make it more "fair" but i'm also sure many people on this thread already know my views)

I wasn't a big fan of the new system until we used it. Now I like it better than legacy but I still don't like the tiers
