me too!If that works out anything like WDW, you could end up walking farther to find a kiosk than you used to have to walk to find a FP machine. I'm glad I have a phone with ample d!ata if needed.
I don't think some people realize that locals, who make up a great number of visitors to DLR, are not going to want to plan their fast passes well in advance. The nature of the two parks is so different. I have no idea why WDW vets expect DLR to be the same - it boggles my mind. I would not expect WDW to be the same if and when we visit - this has nothing to do with ones ability to deal with change either - that was a bit offensive in my opinion. People can handle change fine when it makes sense!
When you're finished changing, you're finished.....I don't like change....![]()

We are locals & do not have a problem with this change. This is basically the same as before minus paper & the actual walk to said attraction for FP+.
I personally would LOVE the advantage to prearrange the time on rides so I'm STILL NOT waiting in LINES for either a short 2 hour impromptu visit OR a weekend staycation (DVC members) it does not matter that I'm a "local" cuz I'm sure NOBODY likes line waiting. The change to FP is not exactly how I hoped it would be but oh well - it is what it is and at least they do realize sometimes change is needed.Perhaps they will change this down the road for those who stay on property to have a slightly earlier advantage & then that would EXACTLY be what I would love!
Have a great day!!

Yay. Now us foreigners HAVE to get a data plan. Oh well... if there's one thing I know about this place, once the system is hot, there will be at least one thread detailing how to get them and how to do it the most efficiently.

You take what pops out and deal with it -- HOWEVER, the return times are posted both on the Disneyland app and right outside the FP machine areas. So, DLR noob question here...we are considering our first trip to DLR after 3 recent trips to WDW under the new FP+ system. The thing I'm struggling with the most about the DLR FP process is the return times. I am used to WDW, where I can choose what time I want to ride. I know I've got a lot more studying up to do on paper FP before we go, but can someone give me a brief run down on how the return times work? Specifically, do you have any choice on your return window or do you just take whatever pops out of the machine and deal with it?

I was referring to the OP who was surprised DLR didn't have the exact same FP+ that is found in WDW. The FP+ which is being described here in subsequent posts is much different. It's a paperless version of the same process. I still can't imagine a local wants to plan 6 months in advance as people who visit WDW are sometimes required to do.
I agree...I think that's a much more important part of the system for DLR than WDW because of the sheer number of local AP holders.I think not needing to be on property to make a FP reservation really opens this up to much higher levels of usage, even from people who don't follow through and show up. I think requiring people to be in the park is a critical piece to maintaining adequate supply of FPs throughout the day. Fingers crossed that's how it turns out.
If the system were EXACTLY like the one at WDW, I don't see how that would work for locals at all. But thankfully, it doesn't sound like it's going to be the same. They are having to alter it due to the large number of locals.
