FP+ (No More Paper Fastpasses)

Two things....I don't want to waste the battery on my phone getting and using fastpasses. I'd rather save it for my photos. I hope they come up with another idea rather than using your phone.

Seriously! Last time I was at the park open to close I needed 2 back up battery charges for my phone. I take some pics, but I also use my camera. And I check the Disneyland App a lot to check return times, look for characters, even look at menus. Now I'm going to have to use it more for fast passes!

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the FP+, so I'm hoping it doesn't come to DL anytime soon. Of course, each of the parks has their plusses and minuses, but having to reserve everything so far out at WDW was so frustrating to me. I never mind the DL reserve time, but WDW was just too far out, timewise.
We like to go to the park and just have fun. We'll fit a few dining reservations or WOC show in, but I like that we can grab FP's as we go along, and not have our phones out or be pouring over ride options months in advance.

If there is wifi and I can use my ipod or something instead of my phone I would be a bit happier. My phone battery sucks and I like using it for photos (usually keep it in airplane mode to save the battery). Having to use a kiosk does not appeal to me. Was really stoked about getting paper again. Maybe we will get lucky and still have them in Aug!

Is it possible that the Paperless FPs will just go onto the ticket / AP medium?

A bit like the rider return for Guests with any kind of special needs?

For example, my daughter broke her foot 2 days before our November trip and couldn't do stairs. We were able to access rides like Big Thunder through the exit after receiving a return time from the CM at the exit. The CM scanned the barcode on the back of our ticket and annual pass, gave us a return time and then we went away. We returned at the designated time, our ticket / annual pass was scanned again and we were admitted to the ride.

No linking of tickets, no phone needed, and no paper handed out.

This is what I'm thinking....they may have a phone option available for those who will want to use it, but I think they'll have something like this in place for those without phones.

I don't see why you couldn't still do that. But, maybe I'm missing something.
If they pair the fastpass to a certain ticket or magicband, then I can't pull a fastpass using my kid's pass and use it for myself like I do now.

kids and adults will switch mbs with esch other all the time at wdw. CMs dont check to make sure the "right" person has the mb. no reason they wouldn't be able to switch with this system.

With all the tricks going on with FP in WDW, I can't imagine anyone would bat an eye at you using your son's FP. Really.

Ah. Makes sense. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

I don't think some people realize that locals, who make up a great number of visitors to DLR, are not going to want to plan their fast passes well in advance. The nature of the two parks is so different. I have no idea why WDW vets expect DLR to be the same - it boggles my mind. I would not expect WDW to be the same if and when we visit - this has nothing to do with ones ability to deal with change either - that was a bit offensive in my opinion. People can handle change fine when it makes sense!

If you read the updates, it states that as it is now being planned, you won't book your FP in advance. You will only be able to book them the same day as you enter the park.

What about those of us who don't have smart phones. I know GASP! But how are we supposed to get fastpasses.

I find the FP+ system intimidating enough that we're skipping WDW completely on our upcoming FL trip. Well, not completely since we'll be at WWOS for events, and I'm sure I'll hit Disney Springs for shopping, but we have no park days planned... and that's largely because I have no desire to plan trip details months in advance, but if I don't, I know I'll have a lesser experience than those who do.

We're staying onsite at Universal instead, and we're looking forward to being as spontaneous as we like with our express passes.

I'm open to change at DLR, even of the FP system. I just hope that change makes sense, and is not just change because someone thinks new = better, because that's not always the case.

The article stated there would be centralized kiosks, where you could book any ride, throughout the park.

If that works out anything like WDW, you could end up walking farther to find a kiosk than you used to have to walk to find a FP machine. I'm glad I have a phone with ample data if needed.

We don't have smart phones either, we have itouches. I hope they put in wifi like WDW but I haven't heard word one about that. It is rather surprising that they still don't have it especially if they are switching to this type of FP. At WDW, the kiosks were nuts. After you wandered around looking for one you'd stand in a long line of people who didn't know what they were doing or couldn't decided what they wanted. It took longer than a FP line.
