I am considering arriving late to the parks on a few days and picking FP for late evening.
What are the issues I need to be aware of doing this?
How late will FP be available?

1. What are the issues I need to be aware of going this?
2. How late will FP be available?
1. Several/most/all of the "premium" attractions likely won't have any more FP available that evening.

2. Start-time begins at/during the last 30-60 minutes before closing time.

the less people you're attempting to get FPs for, the easier it will be.

I saw Kenny the Pirate got a 10-11pm FP for Haunted Mansion a few days ago.

We do this often - there are certain rides that are very different in the dark - the only way to insure you get to ride them in the dark without long waits is FP

Thunder Mountain
7DMT
Test Track
Everest
Jungle Cruise - not as critical as the others
Tower of Terror

I want to pick them at the 60 day mark. Not the day of. But when planning, how late will I be able to pick?

I was going to get a fastpass late at night for expedition Everest and the latest one I could get was 8:00pm. They must not be running it past 9 im thinking? Even though the park is open until 11

FP+ timing for Expedition Everest is a special case.
They have eliminated issuing FP+ near the performance times of the new Rivers of Light.
The attraction, itself, does continue to operate during Rivers of Light.

There has been speculation in discussion as to WHY they would not issue FP+ at those times,
but none of it really makes much sense.

I have had good luck at getting FP+ late in the day, even for attractions that supposedly have no more according to the MDE app, by just constantly refreshing the screen. Last week I got an 8 PM FP+ for Test Track at 7:30 PM. Don't just give up if the app says there are no more FP+. Just keep refreshing incessantly - you'll be surprised at the times that will suddenly appear. I have obtained FP+ for nearly all of the Tier 1 attractions as fourth or subsequent FP+ by using this method, and also to get a Tier 1 FP on the day of my visit. On one of our AK days, when we went with no FP reserved in advance, I got a FP+ for Kilimanjaro Safaris for 9:15 AM while on the bus to the park that morning, even though the app at first said there weren't any. Just keep refreshing. If a time appears that you don't want, take it anyway, and then use the refresh method to modify the time until you get what you want. That seems to work even better.

Yes we did the refreshing last trip, works like a charm. We got SDMT about an hour before we rode with FP.

I know, isn't it a great tactic? I think that most people just see that the app says that there are no more FP+, and they give up. I only discovered this two trips ago. Since I have been doing this, I think I can honestly say that I have never failed to get a FP+ for the attraction and time that I wanted if I had the time and opportunity to refresh often enough.

Last week we were in the MK on a night when it closed at 11PM, and I was looking for additional FP and the system issued me one for Pirates that was valid from 10:30PM-11PM.
