FP grace period

If you are human, which I think we can agree you are, and you state that you are above such behavior - why is it your assumption that no other human is as honorable a human as you appear to believe that you are?

Your choice to share, but it seems cynical to think "If I tell them about my awesome pixie dust experience they will just ruin it for everyone else!" Yep - some people take more advantage of situations than others... but focusing SO much disdain on them reads as bitter.

I understand what you are saying, but in this case I am assuming that most people will be honorable (whatever that is). It is not those people that I am referring too. It is the "what can I get away with" crowd that I am talking about. It may seem like disdain, but it is more a fear of peoples selfishness eventually taking it's toll on everyone else.

Maybe not you...but you know as well as I do that there are many that come to these boards only to see if they can find the loopholes in the system. They are the ones that I will not share with.

Say it's 10:00 and our FP window ends at 10:10. The grandkids want to make a bathroom stop.

Should I
(a) say, "No, that has to wait. We have to make our FP window"?
(b) let them make the pit stop and tear up our FPs?
(c) relax, let them make the pit stop, knowing that we have a 15-minute grace period.

My answer is (c).

Other folks' answers may be (a) or (b).

Different strokes for different folks. (Hey, that's kinda catchy. Somebody ought to make a song out of that... ;))

My answer would be...your lack of planning does not constitute Disney's emergency. You had the kids with you, did you not think that they might need a pit stop? If you didn't plan well and you are late (enough) they have a standby line. You will not be denied a ride...just early entrance.

Watch out Jenny - incoming! :headache:

Thanks for sharing your experiences, that is helpful and the OP's original point of the thread. I just worry for your safety from the FP cops and thread hijackers since you acknowledged your lack of character by trying to enter the ride two minutes late!

I wish you well!

Pixie dust isn't printed on FP tickets like GP +15 is. I think it might even be in black and white.

I'll respond to both those posts....exactly who in the hell said anything about not returning during the allowed times, including Grace period times. That's why they are there...for the last minute delays. When you think about it, with the 5 minute/15 minute grace period that gives everyone an hour and 20 minute window. That 80 minutes! If one cannot plan things within 80 minutes, well what can I say? My only, only, only objection is those that continue to feel that they should not only do, but encourage others to test the boundary's beyond the fairly liberal setup that exists. If someone has recently been allowed in beyond the 15 minute GP, well some CM tried to spread a little pixie dust. The constant, predictable reward for a good deed, is a pile of hassle for themselves and other CM's that will now be confronted by folks that see this declaration and feel, heck it's worth a try, lets see what happens. That has a domino effect that expands until someone, in power, says...no more allowances, it is getting out of hand again. And just like that, those that insisted on pressing the edge of the envelope have ruined a nice thing for all. So call me a Cop if you like...because like one of the previous posters...I don't care!

Do not feed the trolls.

This is a reminder to keep this friendly otherwise posts will be removed and words spoken to the offenders.

Here is a novel idea. How about we aim to keep a FP thread open for as long as possible and recognise that people are individuals with different behaviours and expectations.

This is a discussion forum not a debating chamber. Those who think free speech gives them a licence to be rude and or sarcastic are sorely mistaken :goodvibes:

I'm not going to name any names, but some folks said to return only during the one-hour window, because it's there in black and white.

And now that this FP thread has just about run its course, I will drop out and wait for the next one to come along... ;)

You must be kidding. Most of what is on this forum is rude and sarcastic, but I love it anyway.:) Hopefully I can say this with a smiley face.

Actually, you did have a choice: you could have left the TT line to go make your MS window; or stay and ride TT and miss the MS window. Just like I had to do the night I had an ADR at CRT: we were in line for Space Mountain and the ride went down. We waited as long as I felt like we could, and since the ride didn't come up (we would have been next to ride, so if it had come up, we'd be out of there in no time), we exited the building without riding and went to make our ADR on time.

Not criticizing your choice, mind you...I would have stayed in the TT line, too....have never been to WDW at a time when the line for MS was more than 15-20 minutes, except when MS first opened. :goodvibes

That was the really weird thing though. The ride wasn't down! We were moving in fits and starts, and were absolutely jammed in in all directions. I don't think that we could have found a quick way out even if we had wanted to. I'm not sure what was going wrong and why the wait time was over double the posted time. It made making a decision whether to leave or stay very difficult. By the time we finally got out it had been corrected. I guess had we had a FP and explained these unusual circumstances the CM may have been flexible about the situation, or maybe not. As I said it wasn't an issue because we lined in the regular line anyway, with a wait time posted of 45 mins, which was the opposite of TT and turned out to be 25 minutes lol!

I agree that people should try and target the actual one hour time and not focus on the absolute ending time (GP) because that is cutting it close and simply setting themselves up for possible disappointment, but as long as they are there during the Disney allotted time (GP included)...all's good. Before or beyond that, intentionally, is what will cause the problems.
