FP for Rivers of Light

My friends and I had FP for Rivers of Light last night. CMs roped off a long path for FP guests.
No bands were ever checked. Not when we entered the line, not walking up closer to the entrance, not at the entrance, nowhere. Same goes for all the people we watched enter before and after us. CMs were standing at the entrance, but not checking.

I haven't experienced anything like for FP before. Is this how it normally happens?

We are just curious to know why we wasted a FP when we didn't need one.

No that's not the norm. The norm is that the CM right at the entrance to the arena will be scanning bands

Was this the first or second show? My understanding is that the second show doesn't usually fill so maybe they were allowing anyone in to divide the standby a bit into that section as well. If it was the first show then that seems really wrong since FP are hard to come by. We have FP for the first show tonight so I can report back on what happens then.

OP here - just one show that night. It was packed. Both sides were completely full.

Perhaps the handheld FP readers weren't working?

The only time I've seen CMs allow FP guests in without scanning (F&G Concert) was when the iPad-reader combo wasn't working. They asked to see the MDE FP reservation and I had a screenshot. Everyone in front of me and behind me were frantically trying to access their MDE accounts.

The CMs relented and waved everyone through.

That's odd because it was supposed to be two shows, one at at 8:30 and the second at 9:45.

I was there last night too. Good Friday, correct? There were definitely 2 shows. We had FP for second show. Showed up at 9:29 right before FP expired. They checked our FP for sure. We got seats all the way to right. Good seats. Glad I got to show up at the last second. I am not sure I would want to wait too long for it.

They used handheld scanner.

Just a quick update that we went to the first show tonight and they scanned our bands for FPP. We were there about 50 minutes before the show started (so before the official FP window started) so they were definitely checking then and since they kept announcing how full it would be and asking everyone to squeeze in, I'm assuming they probably didn't stop.
