We've never brought children under age 3 to WDW. With FP, do the kids just get on the rides along with the adults using FP, or do they have to get their own somehow? :confused3

They get a band, but it doesn't have and they don't need Fast Passes. I thought it was cool they still get one so they don't feel left out when all the other kids are wearing one.

We didn't have them on the reservation, so they don't have magic bands. I just wanted to make sure that when we walked up to get on a ride that we wouldn't need anything for them. This is the first trip where we have had magic bands, so I don't want anything to go wrong! :thumbsup2

Why are they not on the reservation?

This.

All children should be listed. No reason not to.:confused3

But to answer your question--too young for a ticket so no FP required and they will not be denied access to a ride for lack of one so long as the are with someone age 14 or older with a valid FP while also meeting the ride height requirements.

Interesting. I guess we've always been a party of the size that wasn't at room capacity. 5+1 under 3 is the most we've travelled with, which is the most you can fit in a Deluxe room. I supposing if travelling with 5+2, Disney would not let you put that many in a room, but taking an off-the-grid under-3 in would have no impact, since they don't need a ticket or fast passes. :confused3

My two year old had a band but didn't have fp on it. But CMs all let her scan at ride so she could be like sisters. Very cool. Mainly she used it for room key and memory maker. She loved running up to photographer to scan it.

If no impact, no reason not to add.

Under 3s do not count towards room occupancy btw.

They do impact dining reservations though as all guests including infants must be accounted for. You can be turned away.

You need to list under 3's on room reservations because it absolutely will impact ADR's and Magical Express if you use that. Learned that the hard way ;)

I think you only get one "freebie" under 3, anymore than that will count against the room occupany. And yes, they definitely need to be included on ADRs and for the DME.

Our situation was that we were in a 1 bedroom DVC room so with room occupancy limits. Me, DH, my mom and DS6. I found out about a week after booking (11 month mark) that I was pregnant with my youngest. We figured there was no issue with the trip, we had traveled to WDW when my oldest was a newborn. It never occurred to me to add the baby to our reservation, dining or magical express since he wouldn't even be 3 months old yet. We did have a few issues at the restaurants but since he didn't even need a high chair and was held we didn't have too many issues except at Crystal Palace where I explained my mistake to the manager. We also had issues getting on Magical Express, and it took quite awhile for them to add the baby in their system and get us on our way to the resort.

It was an innocent mistake and it just never even crossed my mind to add him :confused3

The moral of the story is that OP should include everyone (even under-3s) on the reservation to avoid any potential issues. As a bonus he/she will get a Magic Band! But no, he/she won't need FPs.

I didn't think to add my DS to our ADRs in March, either. He didn't need a ticket or FPs, and it just didn't occur to me. Luckily it all worked out, the only place we had a little issue was Via Napoli but the manager quickly took care of it.

I'd list any member of my family on a resort reservation in case of emergency. Clearing out a resort in the case of a fire or even a fire alarm. "Room 203? Four people, OK, we have four people" but that under 3 year old isn't there.

Yes - that's a stretch but please, list EVERYONE on your resort reservation.

That makes sense.

Sounds like OP knows they aren't adding the kid on purpose.

I made a dining reservation in May and included my baby. But we are aware that we need to. Easy to see how that may not be on someone's radar, though.

Yes but even if you have a room for 5, you can make your ADRs for 8 or 10 or whatever. So again, there really is no drawback. I too thought Disney only gives you one "infant" in the room for free. Technically if you put in age 2, the site will only give you suites. But, you can put them in as an infant, then reserve it, then go back and change them to age 2, and you're still fine. I've never tried putting 5 + 2 infants. So, I just tried it now and it blocks it. So +1 is the limit.

maybe they can give us magic bands when we check in for them. we aren't exceeding occupancy for the room - we have 2 adults, 1 child, and 2 under 3. we told the guy were were renting points from (our first time) that we had 2 under 3. he just told us that if we wanted them on the reservation to just let him know. we figured it wasn't necessary since they won't have tickets. it wasn't until I thought about FP's that it became a question. i will explain to the CM when we are checking in and see what they say. we are not using DME (we are driving) and doing QS only this trip, since the 2 little ones do not do well in restaurants, and make it really hard to enjoy sit down meals.

You can only have 1 extra above occupancy under 3 in a room, actually. Like if a room is max occupancy of 4 (like ours at OKW), we have 2 adults, 1 child, and 2 under 3, so we have 5, but one would fall into the under 3 for free rule. If we had 3 under 3, we would need a max occupancy of 5 room.
