FP+ dilemma

I still have a few weeks before I can make my FP+ res, but I am trying to nail down my strategies early, and the first day already has me completely stymied! :headache: We will start our trip at MK on 9/14, and have an 8:00 ADR for Crystal Palace. I figured since we will be on that side of the hub, and have another MK day planned later in the trip, we would start in Frontierland/Adventureland using Josh's day 2 touring plan from easywdw as a rough guide (http://www.easywdw.com/cheatsheets/mk_cheatsheet_easyguide.pdf). We plan to stay at MK until early afternoon, then will break to the resort for a bit before heading to Epcot for a dinner ADR at 6:30. Crowd level is 3 for that day, and both parks are recommended. So, my issue is which park to make the FP+.

If I follow Josh's plan, I would make the FP for PP, JC and another in MK. But if I wanted a 4th FP at Epcot, I would have to make it there in the evening. What are the odds that we could get a tier 1 at that time (probably 5-ish)? Or would it make more sense to just plan all my FP for Epcot later? The problem with that is that tier 2s will be walkon in the evening, so I would be "wasting" FPs. We will definitely be spending more time at Epcot during the week, so it won't be our only chance for TT and Soarin'. I think I may have just answered my own question, lol, but I would love some input on my dilemma.

I've been trying to hash this kinda thing out myself. So I've started looking at FP+ times for the current day at the time of day I think I will arrive at the second park. Saturday around 5 PM there were still test track FPs but not Soarin.

I still believe the best strategy is to not depend on a 4th FP.

Make your FP+ for your second park and enjoy the rope drop (or early morning) benefits of your first park. If you are doing multiple days in the parks, this strategy just makes the most sense.

this one is easy to solve - I went last week and did MK on non recommended days and till 10:30am --- all 3 rides you mentioned were walk ons. Both our MK days we did BTMR 2-3 times at 9am, than PC, JC, carpets and parade at 11am, and than the show at 11:40am.

the second MK was EMH, so we started in Fantasyland and did Small World x 2 and Little Mermaid before going to Frontierland at 9am.

My guess is that you would try to have rides in Epcot before dinner or right after dinner and than have a nice walk around WS between 8 and 9pm and watch fireworks at 9pm. so I would schedule FP+ in Epcot.

this one is easy to solve

Agreed. The more FP+ you have does not necessarily mean the more time you save.

It is MUCH more important that you have the right FP+, in the right park, for the right attractions at the right time for your touring style/strategy and for your family.

We were in EPCOT yesterday which TouringPlans notes it as an actual 3. There were no aditional FPs available for Test Track or Soarin for two of us when we checked late afternoon.

The problem with that is that tier 2s will be walkon in the evening, so I would be "wasting" FPs.

Unless the crowd is high (7+?) you're pretty much wasting tier 2 FP at Epcot anyways ;) Nemo occasionally gets a 20-25min wait, maybe 15-20 at Mission Space...

If you're not like bound & determined to get Soarin' or Test Track that evening... Go ahead a FP at MK for thinks like PP, JC, Mtns, Belle, A&E, etc.

Hope that helps :D
