FP+ Details Are Out!

If I don't pay off the package until the allowed 45 days out, would I still be able to choose the FastPasses at the 60 day mark? Or would I need to pay off the package by the 60 day mark?

FP+ isn't tied to a reservation, it's tied to a ticket. If you are getting the tickets as part of a package, in theory the tickets are automatically registered to your profile, and you can make FP+ selections, regardless of whether the package is paid off or not. Of course, if you cancel the package, you cancel the tickets, and selections will (likely) be canceled as well.

Right now, you have to be staying at a particular resort, checking in and checking out during the test period.

Well we'll be staying at AKL Nov. 21-25; I'm assuming FP+ could be up and running around that time. I'm still hoping to use the traditional FP system. But some are saying that if you're staying on property and have park tickets, that disqualifies you from using the traditional FP system.

I dunno.....:confused3

No one knows exactly what disqualifies you yet because it is still in testing.

According to the terms and conditions, if you opt in to using FP+, you are disqualified from FP. Getting a MagicBand might force you into opting in to FP+ as well.

Yeah I heard about that with the opting in or out of MagicBand. As a first timer, I'm just looking forward to 'abusing' the FP system. LOL Guess we'll all have to wait for more details on FP+.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks. I'm trying to plan ahead. Our trip isn't until May/June and I know there will be much more info by then. Just planning ahead and making sure I'm doing all this the right way

very true! just assuming if my resort will be in test mode at the time. Has there been any testing via the DVC? My first stop is at a DVC with a friend. then off to my real reservation at POP although we may be upgrading to Poly this week. :)

Wow!....POP to Poly...now that's a nice upgrade! Hope y'all get it! :thumbsup2

I never got an official invitation for the testing next month, but our bands (and something else?) are going to be here tomorrow. I wonder if these will be the only set as our AP bands, or just for that visit.

We have APs, and they are sending us 2 sets of bands, one set for each resort reservation. We had to make 2 separate reservations because the AP rates ended in the middle of the trip. I guess I'll get to figure that out later.

How absurdly odd is THAT?

With each new piece of info that we get,
the situation looks to be more and more out of control for the staffers.

I think this is just a side effect of it being a resort reservation-oriented test - they aren't directly dealing with the APs as they would normally.

yikes... sounds like a lot of planning... believe me I'm neurotic when it comes to planning but for example.. in October I will be traveling with two different groups of people. I will need to obtain information from about 10 people, enter it all on account and set up the ff+ time slots for all! I am the dedicated "conceirge" for the trip so to ensure all goes smoothly, it looks like I will be pretty busy in about 20 days. Today is my 90 day mark! lol

I'm planning for 23. It took awhile to figure it out, but it is actually fairly easy once you do. Once I booked the fastpasses for my family, I was able to copy my fastpass itenerary into any "friend's" plans that I chose. The legwork happens at the start when you have to be sure that all your friends are in your list in MDE. You do this by sending them an invite that they accept in their MDE.

Question: Once this system is fully ready to go, what would stop an AP holder from reserving FP's every day of the year on the chance they might be in the park? If they don't go, no water off their back except the FP's could have gone to someone else who would have used them.

I think there will be some limits there (just my opinion), but nothing has been said officially so who knows.

There has been no definitive information...but people seem to think that annual passholders can reserve FP+ indefinitely without any repercussions, and have all the time in the world to do it...

If a given AP holder is found to be abusing the system, Disney can place more strict limits on them. It's not like they can't tell who is doing it. Even if the DMX account is registered with false info, the AP is not. And the AP can be tagged to no longer get FP+ if they wanted if they continuously reserve FP+ and never use them.

The ancient rumor was that AP holders would be limited to 20 per quarter. This did have AP holders in an uproar. And the source of the rumor was banned (for other reasons...) - but what I could see, and what wouldn't bother me as much, is that they can't have more than 20 FP+ selection days active at any time...

From the restrictive side - is it really? Are AP holders really going to intentionally plan out 20+ days out of ~90? Change of plans? Just change one of the days. I really think the true non-abusers of APs are really more worried about what will be available on short notice.

From the "They're going to steal all my FP+s" side...given a 60 day time frame, and a 20 day limit, they can't occupy FP+ for more than 1/3 of the available days in any given period. So given that, they really can't occupy all the FP+ slots for an unlimited amount of time...is it worth walking a 20-day FP+ period down the calendar every day for maybes? They won't be walking days 40-60 for maybes, if they can't hold on to them to the last minute...so maybe they do days 1-20 - and at that, it's what's left over anyways...worth the trouble?

Does that seem reasonable for both sides? Note that I'm totally making this up...I have no idea what Disney is planning for AP holders, but since so many think that AP holders are all evil and will take all the FP+s every day 60 days out and Disney won't care...

.

This is my main concern. As a local I would have to plan out 60days in advance for a visit but that doesn't make sense. If I decide one morning that I want to go to the park it seems rather unfair that I couldn't get any FPs if everything had been prebooked.

I don't think AP holders are evil. I'm simply asking the question from a risk management perspective. If a system can be gamed, believe me when I say that it will be.

Unfortunately, FP+, as we know it right now, isn't going to lend itself to spur-of-the-moment stuff, no matter how it's restricted in this case.

Yet people don't seem to realize how easy it would be to detect and restrict now.
