FP+ Details Are Out!

Well you have to also consider that Disney World opened in October of 1971.
Fast passes didn't exist until they were released late in 1999.

So for 28 years there were no fast passes, just standby lines.

I don't see a problem with a system that worked for 28 years, when fast passes have only been around for 14. You just have to go with the flow.

The crowds that WDW get today are nothing like the crowds of pre 1999 :) That's a big difference

Don't need to consider it at all, as it really don't apply. We are NOT returning to "standby lines for everyone" here. What we changing who can have Fastpasses, and who can't.

It isn't just the increase in attendance as mentioned - it's also the fact that I might be shut out of Fastpasses for all the major attractions before anyone even gets in the park, because I decided to go to the MK that day, even if I get there before anyone else, and my only choice is to stand in a standby line - which many others don't need to...and the standby line goes much slower than it did for 28 years.

People from Brazil, Colombia, England, and Japan weren't invading WDW in 1999 like they do now. I don't have the numbers to back this up but I would guess the amount of international travelers to WDW has increased more than 1000% since 1999. Not to mention our domestic growth in travel since then.

:-o

You can always check the kiosks that are around the park or request a print out from Guest Relations or the front desk of your hotel.

That sounds like a giant PITA, but I am sure I can learn to deal with it

Ok, I have an AP... can I only register myself for fastpass ride times? Does it allow you "guests"? What if I have a friend and they want to pay for a one day ticket to come into the park with me? Can I not have someone else ride with me?

If your friend buy a ticket they can register and book or you can add the. As part of your friends and family and register their ti key and book. All they need is a ticket.

Your friend would need to buy the one day in advanced and be a family or friend in your MDE to link reservations.

yikes... sounds like a lot of planning... believe me I'm neurotic when it comes to planning but for example.. in October I will be traveling with two different groups of people. I will need to obtain information from about 10 people, enter it all on account and set up the ff+ time slots for all! I am the dedicated "conceirge" for the trip so to ensure all goes smoothly, it looks like I will be pretty busy in about 20 days. Today is my 90 day mark! lol

new question... as a current AP holder, will we have to request the bands or will they automatically be mailed to us?

That assumes that the FP+ system will be operating in 20 days.

As of now, we don't know when the system will come on-line.
It is only being tested, so far.

very true! just assuming if my resort will be in test mode at the time. Has there been any testing via the DVC? My first stop is at a DVC with a friend. then off to my real reservation at POP although we may be upgrading to Poly this week. :)

Unknown yet, but I doubt they will be mailed automatically. If you want a colored one, you'll need to order. If you don't care, you can probably get the "iconic gray" at the parks.

Some limited testing with BLT guests is starting soon, which I believe is the first test with DVC reservations.

some thoughts, please.

We have PAPs that have not been activated yet. It appears I can link my tickets to MDE. We will be there in August but staying DVC so not eligible for FP+.

The question is- do I want to? Any advantages or disadvantages to linking?

The CM I spoke with claimed we'll get mailed invitations to get it set up. We all know how this goes.

I never got an official invitation for the testing next month, but our bands (and something else?) are going to be here tomorrow. I wonder if these will be the only set as our AP bands, or just for that visit. It's going to be fun to figure out! I can currently make FP+ selections through Sept19, but it only allows seven days to be scheduled at a time. I know many are concerned about doing this, but linking my AP on the site has caused no issues in the parks at all. I was nervous about it after setting up the bands and scheduling FP+, but we were fine. :thumbsup2
