FP+ Details Are Out!

I heard "just deal with it" and also impatience. I guess that we can be a bit annoying with all of the questions.

However, Disney wouldn't get so many questions if they provided more answers.

I heard "Just shut up and send us your money." ;)

Seriously! I was happy to get a response so quickly, but I do not feel that I was 'heard' at all!

I posted this in two other threads, and now here because I think it's relevant.
I have not gone through the entire thread to see if this was answered already. Sorry if it has been, but I'd consider this official policy as of right now since I talked to two separate people, one at tickets and one at internet help desk.

If you are an AP holder and have an exchange certificate (green cards that say "Exchange Certificate") for renewal or or you have received an exchange certificate for a new AP, you CANNOT link your tickets to My Disney Experience until you exchange them for a real ticket at one of the ticket booths. Therefore you are not eligible for FP+ until you exchange the certificate.

When I asked what I could do she asked if I had been invited to a test. I said no, but we are going in November and I was worried about getting signed up. She said as of now the answer is we cannot link certificates and that it's not set in stone that FP+ will be up and running this year. I said "OK, we'll wait and see". As Rex would say, "I got a bad feeling about this".

Also, this means nobody will have access until you have a valid ticket. You will not be able to wait to buy tickets or you will likely be out of luck in getting fastpasses for the in demand attractions. People who stay off-site will not have access until they buy their tickets. Day visitors are at a huge disadvantage, as well as convention goers who do not receive their tickets until they arrive.

True. But at least you got a reply. I sent a lengthy e-mail on July 4 and, apart from a generic reply, have not received anything. Probably stumped them with my undefeatable arguments that FP+ is a horrible concept for the vast majority of visitors!

I wrote to Disney to express some of my feelings/concerns and here is the response I received (very quickly, I might add.) I just thought I'd share. The comments in red are obviously mine.

"Dear ________,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

You will be happy to know that not all guests in your travel party will
need to select the same attractions for the FastPass+ experience. If you
have guests who wish to go on different attractions then that it totally
fine!
I never said I thought this, they misinterpreted my concern that it's encouraging families to spend time apart due to only being able to choose 3 attractions and people having different interests and, therefore, people riding alone and separate from their family.

This feature is still in the testing periods however, most guests who
have taken part of the testing have really enjoyed the hours of time
saved from utilizing the given number of FastPass+ options. Umm.....hours?.....really??The current
number of Fastpass+ attractions has strictly been tested to see how many
per day would be the most beneficial to guests. Only one Disney Park
can currently be selected for the FastPass+ because weve currently
found that setting up times for more than one Disney park could at times
put guests in a time crunch. The current number of FastPass+ options has
been proven to be the most sufficient amount to allow guests to overall
experience more attractions during their visit.

We look forward to your next visit, _______!

Wow, they are saving you ... um, hours !?!?!

And Hey listen, they are only preventing you from park hopping while using FPs to prevent YOU from being in a time crunch. Because, you know, you would be in a ... um, time crunch and stuff .... also, what happened to how awesomely flexible this system was going to be ???

And they are limiting the your FPs to 3 because that's was most beneficial for YOU of course ...

Was there any other bullcrap I forgot to mock there ?

And in the continuing game of Dueling CM's, I was told exactly the opposite regarding AP vouchers by two different CM's in the My Magic+ testing department. They both said that if you purchase an AP you can add the info from the voucher to your "Affiliations" in your Profile on MDE, and it will automatically link it to the Magic Band, and you'll then be able to access FP+ for the rest of your trip.

I'm starting to wonder if Disney is just getting tired of having to answer all of our questions and now they're deliberately messing with us by giving out mistaken/misleading/wrong information. Honestly, how can a 1.5+ billion dollar system be rolled out -- even for testing -- with this level of confusion?

I tried entering my exchange certificates to no avail. There were serial numbers on the back of the cards, but they are not recognized.

If it saves 'hours of time' then there should be plenty of time to park hop.

Lol I love that comment if it saves time then you should be able to park hop. :-) aren't you tempted to write back and ask why they don't believe in their own system lol...

I actually did respond, and I'm afraid I wasn't super cordial, but I don't like being talked down to and that's sort of what I feel like. Those of us here are Disney experts, we know a lot about how things work, and I feel like they send these 'brush over' responses and expect us to just be like 'oh, ok!'

Did you get any response from your latest email if it was an email you responded with. Know what you mean. People on a thread encouraged me to email disney with my dietary requirements to ask what as in a menu item before queuing up for hours at BOG. Folks said how helpful they were etc etc. so I did and got back an almost instant response 'please ask a server as at the time as our menus can change on a daily basis' ....

The whole point of my email was to explain my concern that at BOG there is no server taking your order it's a self serve kiosk so how do I talk to a CM..they didn't even read it.

I have ten thousand and one concerns about this system. Ten thousand of them have been covered elsewhere, but I can't recall any discussion of this: what about cast members?

My travel buddy's cousin is a CM. We have been frequent/AP visitors to WDW for just over two years now; cousin started with Disney partway through this time. It has honestly been the biggest blessing & joy to be able to hang with her in the parks. Ironically she is essentially a WDW n00b and we still handle the planning.

So when we are required to reserve our times 60 days out, can we register Cast IDs on the site? Do they act as APs? What about on days she anticipates bringing other family members to hang with BFF? Is there any way to get FP for them?

I expect that cast will be excluded from this program, and I understand why they would do that. But it affects *me* as a paying guest, when they are then a member of my party. "Oh hey, we have FP for ToT... we're just gonna pop on real quick. Sorry, I know it's your fav, you could ride it standby and we'll meet you at the coffee cart in 45 minutes..." Um, no. We will then end up eschewing our FPs to standby with her, or - more likely - skip it altogether.

We normally use 3-5 FP in the morning. Afternoon break, then several more at a different park at night. "No bueno," says Disney, "You use too much." Okie dok, Disney. We have experienced a net loss of rides (and net increase of walking) when FP times started getting enforced. Then another net loss when EMH lost an hour, and dropped in frequency. We will experience another net loss when we are limited to 3FP a day. That is a massive devaluation of my trips.

Tell me why I work a second job to afford this, again?

ETA: For BoG lunch they send you to a special kiosk with ingredient lists & send a chef out. The cashier acts as your "server" in this instance. I know it's OT for the thread and I share your special diets frustration - but just an FYI that BoG will take care of you. :)

Actually I never considered the limits if 3 FP+ a day before. Now I see. At the moment you and your buddy and cousin get up to 5 because you are organised and get in early. If they limit to 3 then there is no way no matter what time you get in you can get more. Is there any hope obi wan that the standby is not as busy?

I wonder what time the first bookable slot will be?

I was hacked once and a link was sent to some in my address book including Disney. They are the only ones who responded and it was that someone would be reviewing my message and would get back to me. I know that it was just a form letter sent out automatically but I thought that it was funny.

You might have just gotten a more detailed form letter. ;)

My apologies if this was already brought up. I'm sure it has but I can't get through the entire thread to find it.

Anyway, I am able to make 3 FP+ reservations per day. Let's say I go to MK and use my first FP+ on Splash Mtn, There would now be 2 reservations left. Am I able to make another reservation now or am I limited to just 3 per day and that's it? I have been getting conflicting information and I have no idea what to believe. I even went to the Mom's panel and got this reply:

"At the moment, you can only make three FastPass+ reservations. Once you have used them, however, you can visit the kiosks that still have passes available and secure additional passes "the old fashioned way".

Can anyone anywhere tell me what the actual rules are? Thanks

Is there a better thread on this topic that is more about the implementation and people actually booking Fastpass+? If so, please direct me to the right place. The thread seems to have moved in the direction of people weighing the pro and cons of the FP+ system. This thread moves so fast and I've seen several times where a person makes an assumption and two pages later someone passes off that assumption as fact.

I played with the app and on 8/6 and 8/7 in the MK it gave me a bonus 4th FP+ reservation. This didn't have a bonus available on the days I booked AK, HS, or Epcot. Anyone else getting bonus FP+. Is it because MK has so many options for FP+(21). The one positive thing as I understand it, so of the attractions that can be book for FP+ are not available under the normal FP system? However, I don't follow Disney enough to know if that is true.

Who knows if I'm part of the test, but at this point I have access to book reservations and I can' imagine they would want people to tie up FP+ reservations if they aren't participating.
