FP+ Details Are Out!

I already had an account also. The tickets are now showing up MDE, well the first and third time I looked. The second time, it only listed 2 of the 4 people on the account. I guess since they are there some of the time, when the time comes, I will be able to make my choices.

Maybe because I only have myself and one linked person I am able to go on anytime and everything is there. Hmmm...I have not had any of the problems others have had. I guess I will count myself lucky for now. For now.

We tested FastPass+ on June 21, 2013. We only got to use it one day, as we left for a cruise on the 22nd and when we got back, the testing period was closed. We were allowed to pick 3 attractions from one park per day. We were then given 3 different time schedules to select from. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed and to make our first Fastpass + appointment, we had to skip lunch. Our other 2 were for Splash and Big Thunder and both were closed due to storms during our windows. They did allow us to ride after the showers were over, but the fastpass lines were very long at that point. We were given cards as backups for the bands but the bands worked well. My 5 year old wanted to take the band off after a few hours. When we checked in to Beach Club after our cruise, we found out that the system had magically eaten the remaining park hopper days from our reservation. It took the CM over an hour to fix it. He did give our family 6 (old fashioned, paper) Fastpasses to make up for it, however. Which was even better than Fastpass+.

Thanks to those who posted the FAQs above. I keep seeing reference to "if you are FP+ eligible" but cannot find what constitutes eligibility.

What about people who do not stay onsite? Will any be FP+ eligible? Will only non-resort guests who have AP be eligible?

We have a second home in the area so never need a hotel, but currently only visit once per year due to work schedules. So we don't have an AP, but have non-expiring park hoppers. Will we be able to link those tickets to FP+?

Once we spend more time there and have APs, will we be able to use FP+ even though we will not be resort guests? Just wondering if/how 'locals' who don't require hotel rooms, or those who book offsite, will be able to use FP+.

thanks!

Anyone with Park Tickets will be eligible. This includes any Magic Your Way tickets, AP's ect. It's not directly tied into being onsite, although people onsite might get the +10 days to make ride reservations, just like ADR's. But no one knows yet

During the testing period, only certain groups of guests will be eligible, and they will be notified. In order to better control/educate, they will be on-site guests.

During rollout, it is likely they will roll it out in stages, similarly starting with on-site guests. But it will eventually be everyone with a ticket.

Okay-- I guess I have a dead horse to beat-- I've been looking for this info, and several times I get this response above ( everyone with a ticket) but still haven't seen it in any disney info-- Here I go asking for a source... because I am having a hard time believing it. they say valid ticket AND FPP eligable.

Also, this whole notion of the queue being almost as much fun as the attraction is just too dumb to believe. That's like me going to the local baseball stadium and watching batting practice because it is almost as fun as the game. Nobody buys a ticket for batting practice; they buy tickets for the game. I cringe when Disney spins things like that. I would feel better if they came out and said, "We know waiting in line is not very much fun, but we are doing the best we can to alleviate that."

Amen!
It's condescending.

This is just a single, small example, of why this system is inherently flawed. You can NOT predict 60 days out. Period. You can plan, but then you have to be able to deal with the realities of the day. And there doesn't seem to be any real plan to deal with the fact that crap happens on vacation, weather, children, sickness, 'moods', anything unexpected....

Well, straight from the FAQ:

And best yet, if you are FastPass+ eligible, it’s all included with valid theme park admission.

The "eligible" part is debatable, but I believe that to simply mean as they roll it out.

Disney has also made public statements that it will be part of your admission, and NEVER said anything about a condition of staying on-site.

Watch Nick Franklin talk in the video in this article:

They've also stated that Annual Passholders will be able to use it, with no requirement they be staying on-site either.

And to add to it, you can register tickets from third parties on the web site - not something you would be expected to be able to do if they made you buy packages to use it...

I haven't read the whole thread so I apologize if this is just a repeat.

We have a trip planned for mid September. This morning when I logged into the disney website and clicked on my disney experience there were a few new options on the menu, most notably one option said fastpass+ and another further down said Learn About My Magic+, fastpass+, magicbands and cards.

what could it all mean? lol If it's all supposed to be rolled out for our trip then we'd be able to pick fastpass+ in a few days as we're 66 days out. I don't know yet if I'm excited or annoyed.

Q.
I am FastPass+ eligible, but I did not reserve access to FastPass+ attractions in advance. When I arrive at the theme park, can I still get FASTPASS tickets?

A.
No. If you are FastPass+ eligible and you entered the park with a ticket linked to My Disney Experience by using your MagicBand or card, you are not able to use FASTPASS service.

If you are not FastPass+ eligible, you are still eligible to use FASTPASS service.
All FASTPASS tickets are subject to availability and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Over the coming months, Guests with select Magic Your Way vacation packages will be notified that they may participate in MyMagic+ testing, which includes FastPass+ eligibility.

This FAQ is really telling. First of all, not only does it confirm what we have established that you will not have access to both FP+ and Fastpass, but it adds the additional element that if you are eligible, you will not be able to choose.

But, let's assume that I purchase my tickets separately and do NOT link them on MDE and leave them as tickets, not MagicBands. Based on this FAQ, it seems that I would be eligible for regular FASTPASS. At least, initially. Maybe down the road they will phase it away completely, but one outcome of the MDE glitch mess is that it seems regular Fastpasses are not going to be shut down quickly. I am going to assume that if you have a package with tickets, well, you won't have a choice, you will be eligible. But if you stay off-site, or maybe you purchase tickets separately and don't link them on MDE, then you may have a chance at the old Fastpass system, at least initially. So, my one take-away from this, is that if you don't have a package, don't link your tickets yet, as it may make your tickets "eligible."

Of course, they need to come out and explain eligibility, otherwise we will just keep speculating. :stir:

UGH!!! Why couldn't they have just phased over to a purchased FOTL pass like Universal has... I would have gladly paid for that rather than losing the existing FP system.

Oddly, many of us don't enjoy paying for something that was once included. Like airline baggage fees.

I'm not thrilled about it either but the idea of 3-4 FPs that I have to book 60 days in advance while competing with the rest of the touring families that day is really unappealing as well.

:thumbsup2 For us personally, I'd rather pay for it if we could just use it in the same way as FP.

I'm with you on this one!

Truth be told, if it did become a charged service I know that I would bend and pay for it. But then I may consider staying offsite to offset the additional cost of something that used to be included, which I would now consider essential to enable me to make the most (in my view according to my expectations of a trip) out of my Disney vacation.

I think a charge on FP's would be met with a great deal of negative resistance, to say the least.

So if PF+ is for all guests, not just resort guests, are there any benefits related to the new system that make staying onsite the better option? I'm assuming the ADR style +10 will apply once it's up and running (?)

Apologies if I've missed something earlier in the thread. I can barely keep up with this without putting half my life on hold :lmao:
