FP+ Details Are Out!

(As another note. Does anyone else get seriously confused when 2 people on opposing sides of a discussion happen to use the same avatar? I know I do! It takes me a couple minutes to be like "Wait..what?" before I remember to read the name instead of looking at the picture. I'm such a pro at message boards!)

(As yet another note. I also tend not to notice sigs unless they're obnoxious... as such, I didn't notice that line until it was pointed out. I agree, it's a bit over the line, but meh, I don't care enough to get worked up over it. It'll change once they get bored of it.)

(I like parenthesis!)

:rotfl: This made me laugh. And I needed it after that pouncing on me. :goodvibes Honestly didn't see it coming as the intention just wasn't there. Wow.

I'm curious how you think they might handle someone not having a ticket to link but being allowed to book FP+ in advance. Even allowing some very limited form of this seems like it would open things up to a nightmare scenario of people holding reservations and later deciding whether to use them or not.

I'm pretty sure that's the reason for the credit card holds for popular ADRs.

I was wondering about this today as well... curious what people think...

It is, but for the vast majority of ADRs you do not need anything. (There are only a handful of CC-held ADRs compared to the number of non-CC held ADRs).

I guess, it's mostly just wishful thinking, though I feel that requiring passes in hand to book FP+s would hurt more than help. I could have worded that bit better too, but I had to jump off as my boss walked in and I'm supposed to be working.

I'll adjust that to say:
"However, that may not be the final case and things may change before the end. (Personally, I really do hope that changes to some extent.)"

(Note: if read in a certain tone, this can be perceived as snarky. It isn't. If it sounds that way, read it in a different tone because you chose the wrong one the first time!)

I think it will just motivate people to go ahead and buy their tickets. I see no way they could let people tie up spots without ticket media purchased.

Im In the uk.... I booked my holiday 18 months ago. Still not got Disney tickets yet. Doubt holiday makers want to make big purchases of park tickets too far in advance ! Hope fp+ doesnt make us do that !!!!!

I'll try really hard to read it in the correct tone. :)

And this stuff really only matters most when we are talking about headliners anyway.

Maybe only 60 days.

Desperately hoping paper fast passes are still running in Aug.!!!
Mde doesnt work in uk properly and looses and changes my Adrs! And I only have 3 of them !!!!

As I see it pm and evening fp will be super popular.... with most. In uk park hopper 14 day tixs are most popular. So v organised people will rd first park and then use fp+ for return pm or evening to second park.

It's unlikely that FP+ would be released by August.

PM/Evening is pretty much what everyone else is thinking too.

Hmmm... I wonder if they might do something akin to having an onsite room reservation conferring the 180+10 for ADRs and FP+... maybe for FP+ also extend that (or some time incentive to the booking window) only to those who have purchased tix already? :confused3 Dunno... not sure that would seem like much of an incentive to most people to buy tix in advance...?

I'm wondering, the way Disney has stated how you can change the times or 'modify' your FP+ slots etc. if you could only get a, for example, 9am-10am FP for TSM, you could accept that, and then 'modify' it to a later time for in the evening maybe?
It does seem that everyone wants the evening FP slots (myself included).
I wonder if Disney is banking on the many oblivious guests who pay thousands of dollars to go there and do zero research, have no idea what ride(s) are must dos and who won't pick their 3 FP+ slots (even if Disney was to send them emails reminding them about their upcoming holiday and that they can book 3FP+ slots etc.) They will be hoping these guests won't even try for TSMM/Soarin'/TT/Mountains etc and will just pick 3 random attractions like stitch etc.

I think at least for a while after it starts that very few people out of those that visit in a day would book in advance, I doubt rides would get that booked up before the day. I don't think any of my friends now know about this and if they were to take a trip to Disney would have no idea they have to do anything in advance. If they don't read boards like this or keep up on Disney info they don't know and they don't care. Most people would get there and even if they see FP+ info would probably not want to take the time to have to set up an account online and deal with all that after they are in the park. There are still people even now who only use standby lines because they don't know or don't want to learn about what FP is or they think it costs more or something. Those people would definitely not bother using/learning FP+ since it's even more complicated.

My friend that was going to Disneyland for a day had no idea about anything there or how FP works, so I wrote up something for her on strategy which she was grateful for but before that she was just like "we'll just take our time and relax and not want to be on any schedules" which means just standing in lines as they see them and not knowing how FP works.
My parents would visit WDW every year (granted low seasons) and never used FP, they don't really understand it.

I think another huge negative impact of Fp+ that may or may not have been mentioned (this is a long thread) is that the parks will now be filled with people glued to their smartphones. Seriously, to truly enjoy vacation IMO I want to absorb the atmosphere and look around, not fiddle with my phone all day or see everyone else fiddling with their phones.

True. My name is Carolyn, and I'm an iPhone addict. :worried:

I was conscious on our last few trips - with the advent of various wait time apps - to try to limit use to while waiting in line (checking wait times for other attractions we planned to do next), or very briefly here and there when we were taking a snack break. Must admit that I had more people walk into me while looking down at their cell phones than I had strollers bump into me -- by far!

I think I could limit the MDE / FP+ usage similarly... I THINK... should be a quick change here or there, right? (assuming it all works correctly... :rolleyes1)

This was mentioned in another thread on the same topic a while back. At the D11 conference, Tom Staggs revealed the new magic bands. He stated "Our guests enjoy interacting with their smartmedia".

Many paged back I mentioned I emailed my many and various concerns with FP+ to Disney. Sent it Wednesday. Today they called to speak with me. I'm on vacation though so the CM offered to call next week when I'm home.

Will do. Felt bad I couldn't talk to him right then. Seemed like a nice guy.
