I read an article on wdwinfo.com about how they are cracking down on counterfit FPs....of course this is a good thing but it also said something about how they are checking for expired FPs- not only the date, but the time and telling people to hit the standby line.

Last I heard about a month ago, FPs could be used late but on the same day. Anybody have any current info, like from last week about this? I have always used our FPs on time, but having read that you can save them up, we were gonna do another strategy this time around. I would hate to have 4 FPs and be told that they are not good b/c they are late.

So are they now enforcing the rules for the times of FPs or not?

I really think it depends who is taken the fast pass at the time because this past May there was a family of 6 who came back with there fast passes 90 min. past the window time at soarin and the cm would not let them in. I was pretty suprised because a lot of people on this board say they do it all the time. Anyway this family held up the fast pass line yelling that they have come back at the end of the day and it's never been a problem-well this cm (an older gentleman would not waiver) another cm started checking every one elses fast pass while they stood on the side stating their case but we were in line for 15 min and never seen them so I really don't think they got in:confused3

Why are there apparently so many trying to use expired FastPasses??:confused3

The purpose for FP's are to spread the crowds out thruought the day. The time window is there for a reason and with proper planning there is no reason the window cannot be hit. I have always used the window and have never used an expired FP. Take Space Mountain for instance. What if everyone that got a FP from say.....11am until 4pm got to the FP line at 7pm. The line would be longer than the standby line most likely. This is a practice that I hope does not become a rule for CM's rather than just an accomodation for someone who was held up in a show and is a few minutes late.

My advise is to read the fine print on the FP and try in good faith to abide by the rules.

That's a good point. In addition to being a way to avoid lines, it is a crowd management control as well; otherwise, why would they have different times to begin with? I probably will try my best to make it during the window with the understanding that it may or may not be accepted after the time window. You should know there is a chance you may be turned away and be prepared for it.

I've seen people turned away for using FP after the return time and I have been turned way for trying to use them after the printed time myself. (At Soarin and Space Mt) At the same time, I've been allowed into attractions w/ a FP past the return time.
Guess it depends on what the "rules" are...the debate on that is unending as everyone has their own way of interpreting them and their own experiences to back up their claims.

Can you tell me when and what time you were denied entry with a late FP? Did you ask for a 2nd opinion? Also, where else have you seen others denied entry? TIA

I have decided not to try to use late FPs at Soarin or Toy Story Mainia.

I know what's been said by supposed CM's around here, but it would make a lot more sense to actually enforce the times on the ticket. Sure there would be a fudge factor built in, say 15 minutes or so, maybe even 1/2 hour past the time in case of tie ups at dining or a previous attraction. But the idea was to spread the crowd out, now if you have a lot of people holding FP's for attractions longer, it can defeat the whole idea behind the FP..

The rules are:

1) When the FP matures you have a one hour window to return to the attraction for a minimal wait in the FP line.
2) You can't obtain another FP for two hours after you obtain the first one or until the first one has matured, whichever comes first.

I believe the article was trying more to address counterfiet FP's than those who use expired FP's. In either case, it needs to be addressed to be completely fair to those that use the privilige properly.

I think the issue is not so much returning 15 minutes after your scheduled return time, but the CM's are now checking each FP for the date. They never checked the date on the FP before until it came out in the Sentinal that they were having problems with people selling old FP's on ebay and using them b/c the CM's only checked the time.

I can verify that they are checking this now, as all last weekend they really studied our fastpasses and I heard them say "time, date" under their breath.

 The CMs at Soarin' are notorious for NOT accepting a FP after the return timeframe. I never understood how people could use their FP when their time was up anyways? I assumed it had a timeframe for a reason and using it outside of that would defeat the purpose of line control for the CMs. :thumbsup2 I hope they DO start enforcing the times for ALL FP attractions. It just makes common sense. ;)

We were denied entry for Space at around 8:00pm...FP time was for early afternoon. Soarin' was during Illuminations and another time during EMH.
I've seen people turned away for Soarin' on several occasions.

We used late FP's all over WDW two weeks ago, including Soarin, Test Track, ect., ect. with no problems. Disney's policy is to not allow early entry.

Well, I had planned to collect all my fp in the morning. Go to the resort for several hours and then use them when I returned. I seem to remember some discussion about how the fast passes have wording on the back that imply you can use them anytime after the window has started..some kind of loophole. I'll see if I can find that.

I'm with you.:thumbsup2 I can't tell you how many times my family has made a run for an attraction to get back during our window. We've just always assumed that you had to be there at the time printed on the fast pass. :confused3 I'm one of those people that just follows the directions and find out later on that everyone else was doing something different the whole time. Oh well - if you see a family running through a park with fastpasses in their hands, it will be us! We'll just keep on doing it and looking like dorks! :cool1:

Then why have a 'window', why not say 'valid only on July 23,2008 after 12:25 pm and before park close'

Here's an "old style" FP (front and back) the new ones have the same verbiage.

Here are 3 "new style" FPs.

After being able to read the back, It DOES state . . . Please enter the FASTPASS entrance at the attraction between the times noted on the other side.

 Very interesting. Now, maybe the CMs will enforce it. :wizard:

Robo - Thanks for the pictures! :goodvibes (Is there a photo or map you don't have? ;) )

well its sad but people act contempible even at disney! i look forward to going because i've always viewed it as a clean and decent family environment....not like six flags and those places where i found a lot of ill-mannered punks..... so it really saddens me to think that people can't even conduct themselves like adults at such a respected park..... they're everywhere I guess.
