Four Random Travel Questions

QUESTION ONE

D- Resort Reflections

QUESTION TWO

Aulani would be the first stop, Grand Floridian next, New York, Washington, Switzerland, Naples, Morroco and then back down under....I'm sure $100K wouldn't come close to covering the places I dream of trying...first class flights too please!

QUESTION THREE

The very first DLR trip for my DD (we left Sydney on her 3rd birthday). I saw my kids faces during the nighttime parade (my DH cried), we stayed at the Super 8 and it was great too, my kids used the public spa/pool, stayed out late, weren't scared of the characters, did the 13hr flights well and generally we had a relaxing time. The budget was thin but we never felt we missed anything.

QUESTION FOUR

Broome WA - it's the very edge of the world...or maybe Melbourne - each year there would be a different show/theatre/musical/sporting event to see. There's also so much to see on a road trip and the shopping is abundant.

Lol Zanzibar. Something tells me that we have similar personalities :goodvibes

I suspect that too! Your comment about the Off the Beaten Track thing sounded just like me too! I love going to off the beaten track places, but I like to do it in comfort :thumbsup2

I'm going to google these places tonight. I'm always keen to hear about fun Aussie destinations and these two place names are new to me :)

This is what the Dandenongs are all about:

It's all about the temperate rainforest :thumbsup2 This walk is just down the road from our place :goodvibes

In the process of lying here in bed trying to will myself to get up and start my chores for the day, I have been thinking up random fantasy travel scenarios. Because I love to discuss travel, and I love finding out more information about my friends here on the DIS, I thought I would turn these scenarios into questions and put them to you. Just for the fun of it. :goodvibes P.S. These are fantasies. Getting time of work, finding someone to watch the pets, concerns about the season, weather, and length of the flight etc are all not issues. QUESTION ONE You are approached to write articles for a well-known travel magazine, and in return you and your immediate family will get one months all expenses travel every year. What is the name of the magazine? a) Coach Quarterly (a magazine all about organised group coach and train trips) b) Road Trip Warrior (a magazine all about hiring a car, hitting the road, and seeing as much as you can) c) Cruise Commander (a magazine all about cruise ships and their destinations) d) Resort Reflections (a magazine all about resort-style stays, where hotels, attractions and meals can all be packaged together). A WDW holiday would fit this criteria. e) Off the Beaten Path (a magazine for people who enjoy backpacking, bush treks, and/or living with remote indigenous tribes). QUESTION TWO Your Grand Old Aunt leaves you $100,000 in her will. However there are conditions. You must spend the whole lot on travel and by the end of a month there must be nothing left to show for it. How do you spend it? QUESTION THREE You have the opportunity to relive one week of your travel life. That is, you get to take your family back to a place you loved where you will visit the same attractions and locations and stay in same (or similar) hotels. Where do you go back to and why? QUESTION FOUR You win a timeshare competition that gives you one week per year in a location of your choice within your own country (flights and car rental included). What location do you pick and why? :) :) :)

A. resort reflections

B there are 5 in the melb5 so 5x RTw business class tickets stopping off at LA And some time at the grand Californian , Vegas ( bellagio), NYC ( four seasons) , London , Rome , Greek islands , the Maldives ( Hilton) and Singapore ( marina bay sands) before home time

C a week at the grand Floridian relived would be ideal. So many fantastic memories, one of the prettiest hotels I have ever been to. And the views over the lake to the magic kingdom are just ...out of this world.

D anywhere on the morning ton peninsula around Portsea/ Sorrento way...used to visit a lot when we lived in Melbourne but not since we have moved back to Newcastle . I miss it a lot.

The very first DLR trip for my DD (we left Sydney on her 3rd birthday). I saw my kids faces during the nighttime parade (my DH cried).

Aren't memories like this priceless. They make all the thousands of dollars spent on travel worth every cent.

I love how you already know where you would stay. :thumbsup2
I'd love to go to the Maldives one day, it looks so beautiful.

Been to the Maldives twice. Pre kids and regrettably the resort we stayed at washed away in the Boxing Day tsunami. None the less it's one of the few places where the pictures on the brochure match the real thing. Simply stunning place. For any plane buffs the airport is built out either side of an island , can land a 747, and a unique take off and landing....

QUESTION ONE

This is a tough one, I do like the Road trip warrior because that is usually how our holidays are except for the WDW one. But after experiencing a beautiful resort I kinda want all my holidays to be like that from now on. So I would pick Resort Reflections and leave the Road Trip Warrior for our other vacations - with all expenses paid we might as well enjoy two holidays a year.
QUESTION TWO

I would pull out my bucket list and start at the top and work my way down until all the money is gone. I dont think it will take long to spend all the money with a family of 6 so I am sure it will be done within the month.

QUESTION THREE

Our upcoming holiday is basically a do over of our last holiday but for extended time. so I guess we are already doing this one.

QUESTION FOUR

I would pick somewhere in WA, not sure, its a toss up between Broome or Perth. I have never been over that side of Australia and it usually cost so much to fly over there that having flights and car rental included means we could really explore that side of Australia.

Wow I'm doing well with this timeshare thing! My parents live in Perth, so let's just say I have a timeshare there too :rotfl:

QUESTION ONE

You are approached to write articles for a well-known travel magazine, and in return you and your immediate family will get one months all expenses travel every year.
What is the name of the magazine?

d) Resort Reflections (a magazine all about resort-style stays, where hotels, attractions and meals can all be packaged together). A WDW holiday would fit this criteria.

I much prefer a hotel/resort to caravans/camping etc. I love my creature comforts...

QUESTION TWO

Your Grand Old Aunt leaves you $100,000 in her will. However there are conditions. You must spend the whole lot on travel and by the end of a month there must be nothing left to show for it. How do you spend it?

I'd do a 5 star tour of Egypt, Africa and UAE. Something I've always wanted to do, but our budget just doesn't reach to the level of comfort I would be after :rotfl:

QUESTION THREE

You have the opportunity to relive one week of your travel life. That is, you get to take your family back to a place you loved where you will visit the same attractions and locations and stay in same (or similar) hotels. Where do you go back to and why?

Puerto Morelos, Mexico. This is where we honeymooned. It was beautiful. With one caveat - the resort we stayed at was Adults Only. I'd like to stay at the same resort, but DD would have to come too... No other kids though... :rotfl2:

QUESTION FOUR

You win a timeshare competition that gives you one week per year in a location of your choice within your own country (flights and car rental included). What location do you pick and why?

This question would take a lot of research. At the moment there's no one place that I would like to return to again and again - mainly because I haven't travelled in Australia much. Off the top of my head, I think I'd like somewhere North, where it's nice and warm during winter. Or more practical, somewhere like Sydney where we generally head to once a year any way (not really for a holiday, usually to catch up with friends/family or to see a show or concert etc.)

That was fun. Now someone else come up with another hypothetical question for us to think over :goodvibes
