:banana::yay:Kids are back in school!!!!!:cool1::cool1:
DS has been talking about his party since last year. He gets really into it. At least this year he was old enough to request a reasonable theme... sometimes its been something crazy and barely understandable. I've had to make suggestions. This year it was between a teddy bear picnic and a pirate party. Couldn't get more opposite, but that's DS. All boy, but a totally sweet and sensitive side too.
I found a really cute pirate ship cake and made it for my DS 8th b-day. When I find the pic I'll post it. Its as simple as cutting a round cake in half and putting the 2 pieces together - upright- like in the form of a half circle/smilie face.

Good morning!
I have a DWI: a dog washing injury.
My injury lead to a great discovery. Do you guys know about this stuff? Curad makes this spray bandage, with antibiotic cream in it. Its also waterproof. It goes on like a hairspray, but its dries and AHA! Its amazing stuff. We have that kind of stuff for stitches, but I didn't know it was available at the store.
Still no shirts packed for next week. I guess I'll just go topless.
Bummer on the DWI. Yeah on the Curad spray bandage. I'll have to get some of that.
Topless...I thought this was a family vacation????:lmao:

We may just go wandering around town today to take advantage of toilets. :lmao:
:rotfl2: We had to do that once. Lost our one and only toilet to a plumbing problem. I ended up running to the gas station to get ready for bed that night.
Hope it's nothing major.

We are heading to a Jiu-Jitsu tournament today for the kids at the academy. DS is not participating but rather going to cheer "his kids" on and probably act as a ref. He can't get a long with his sister for nothing but he loves helping teach kids in class. Go figure.
Hi Marie! Have fun at JJ.

BF and I were watching the Little House on the Prarie marathon last night (don't ask) and I am so glad we have modern plumbing! Hope the pressure issue isn't too serious...
:woohoo: Lucky you! I love LHOTP!!!!! I have collected almost all the DVD sets. Brings back some good childhood memories of my family watching that show. :cloud9:

Looks like we're headed to Hershey Park in July (probably 19 or 20th) after all. DH was able to get off. Chocolate Fun...Here we come!!!! Hopefully get to see some TKers there too.

whgrn Welcome back! Already have a new ticker too. :cutie: I won't put up one with more than a year to go, it would drive me crazy 'cause it would take so long to count down. :surfweb:
D&DDisney Ah, a quiet house. :cloud9: Hersey Park....chocolate...

Don't know for sure what was wrong but our pressure is back. DH had watered the entire lot (1 acre) instead of just half like usual. Maybe that was it but I'll still worry for a while that it will happen again.

Here is the pirate cake I made about 4 years ago. Its made by cutting a round cake in half. Put 2 pieces together in the form of a happy face. Frost. I then made a separate 9x13 cake for the water below.
Everything except the mast and little pirates are edible. I found little rootbeer barrals to put on deck. Whoppers for cannon balls, and Rolo candies for cannons on the side. I then put the candles coming out the cannons.

Wow! Lighttech got to post more than once and leave. Sorry I missed you.

I'll have to look for the spray bandage. It would be good for cut fingers.

All dogs could go outside and get a bath here...it's raining!

Has anyone seen the commercial where the man is complaining about his car wash? It just had soap all over it. Another said it's a car wash...just drive through the streets and the soap will fly off. There's another where the guy just sells the hot dog and no buns. I cannot remember what the commercial was about though.

My poor blooming tree just got out pretty over the weekend and now it's raining and windy and knocking the flowers off.

We have to have something to make turning 50 exciting...Yeah WHGRN! I need to work on the 60 celebration in 2010.

Yeah Hershey! I need a TK Meet ticker.

Must get lunch and to the Post Office...probably to exercise too. I want to be good!

D&D--I tried to email these to you. To make a long story short---didn't work. So plan 2 is to get them to Photobucket and then here. (fingers crossed)
Not all schools look alike but they all have the 2 outhouses! I think mine are the same school. Look for the clothes hanging from the house to the barn--high up. One pic shows a windmill. Mom took the one with the cows!

These are all Lancaster County scenes. I guess you can see why I just love driving around.

Monday has struck. First, I find out my shirt is on backwards after I leave the house. And now, it is snowing. yes, snowing. I guess its pretty slick out there because the sanders are going by also. I sure am going to appreciate some warm weather next week.

M&N...those pics are gorgeous! Please help me with some Pa geography....I know where Harrisburg is...where is Hershey in relation? And Amish country? I may make this meet an extended visit and check all these cool places out!

Wow! That cake is amazing! How did you get it to stay up that way, D&D? And brava on the creative use of candy as decor. :worship::worship: I'm not worthy! And it looks so yummy. I would love a little cake right now. And I'm writing down those dates for the Hersheymeet....

DL55....glad to hear that things in the bowl seem to be doing better!

Ok, so I dug out all my Disney tee shirts. A lot of them are pink. I think I may just wear pink the entire week. I already have a pink baggalini and sneakers. Not quite packed yet, have a nice pile growing in the corner. So I guess LITC, look for a vision in pink and that'll be me!

Wendy's back! how was the trip! I'm so excited for TR and pics!

I do do hope that my friends out there are having a better Monday and weather than I am. It was so disheartening to bring that winter coat back out. And boots. And sweaters. Ugh.

Good afternoon everyone!

Kids are home all week for April vacation. I was hoping I wouldn't feel that way till at least Wednesday but they've been at each others throats all morning. They are finally playing with legos and being quiet. Oops, they are about to have some sort of robot battle which I'm sure DS8 will lose and then have a hissy about it. I need a drink! It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?

DH is in Chicago today for a client visit. He and another guy from work flew out this morning at 6:30am and will be flying back at 10:30pm. He expects to be home sometime around 1am. Poor thing is taking tomorrow off from work so he can catch up on sleep. He's also been dealing with a major head cold, sore, throat, cough, etc, and all around yuckyness of being sick. Makes him mad as it cuts into his biking time and he believes he is getting out of shape.

D&DDisney: Really cute cake! I've done a few of the Wilton pan cakes but I'm usually not artistic enough to fit the cut cake pieces together to make something out of it. Was it chocolate?

whgrn: Welcome home! Can't wait to hear all about it and see the pictures.

M&N: Beautiful area you live in. I am always so amazed at how Amish live.

mariezp: I see you changed your avatar. I almost didn't recognize you. How are the plans going? It won't be long now till we can make our ADRs. Have you been doing any more research into where you would like to eat at the parks?

MagiKitty: Sorry to hear about your injury. :sad1: I bet it was a good show though. :rotfl:Have you been feeling like packing today?

lighttech: So how was your 1/2 hour of work? Did DS enjoy the party?

DL55: Glad to hear you got your water back. Been there, done that and do not want to go through that again.

racetrack18kb: An APB has been issued for racetrack who has not be heard from all day. Where could she be?

Geography lesson. Lancaster County is shaped kind of like Africa. Harrisburg is less than 25 (?) miles west of the pointed area. It's on the western side of the Susquehanna R but address on the east side are also Harrisburg. Well, Hershey is a little more east. Look on 422 going e of Hburg. Hershey is before Palmyra. I'm in Elizabethtown. I go under the turnpike to get to Hershey. You stay longer and I can show you the beautiful farmlands in Lancaster. We have outlets too. I just drove around on Sat with no set place in mind. Down some roads I don't remember being on before.

Pikester, get your family well before it starts going around again.

I don't know about Racetrack. Her Busch didn't win but it wasn't that bad was it? My poor Jr on the other hand had problems...

Turks and Caicos TR, Part 1

Following a slightly turbulent flight from JFK, we arrived to sunshine and about 85 degrees. We quickly shed our jackets and headed in to claim our bags. A short drive later, we arrived at our destination--the Italian Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos.

TC07--ItalianVillageSign.jpg

We were greeted with cold, citrus scented washcloths to freshen up with. We were then escorted to a comfortable seating area, and given a short questionnaire to complete. Having finished that, we were given the wonderful news that our room was ready! Hooray! No long wait to get settled!

A brief tour of the Italian Village oriented us to our new surroundings. We were then escorted to our room. Uh oh. I thought we were in the 6 story building. Nope, we are in the two story one. On the second floor. With no elevator. Hmmmm, wonder how this is going to work out…

TC14--OurRoomtopright.jpg

Our room is on the 2nd floor, far right.

Surprisingly, I found the steps were no trouble at all! And this continued to be true throughout the many, many trips up and down that flight of steps during the week. I had brought along my cane, “just in case”, and was happy to have absolutely no need for it. In fact, I forgot all about it until I was packing to come home!

Our room was awesome. The kids had a separate room with bunk beds and a trundle, which they could sit on to watch TV or play the in-room X-Box 360. A sliding door separated their room from the bathroom and hallway, which led to my room. I had a King-sized bed that proved to be exceptionally comfortable. A small balcony completed the arrangement. Oh, and did I mention storage? TONS of storage!! I have lived in apartments with less! The kids had their own closet with plenty of hanging space, as well as shelves. Their room also had a huge built-in shelf area, with several drawers and a small cabinet. They even had their own sink.

TC39--KidsRoom.jpg

The bathroom boasted a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower with one of those huge shower heads (but no shower curtain, which led to more than one flood), 2 sinks, a separate “water closet”, and again, tons of storage space.

My room had an enormous closet with shelves and more hanging space than I had in my closet growing up! Also a huge bureau, of which I used very little, which was topped with a large flat screen TV. A bedside desk provided a home for my laptop. WiFi was weak in most of the rooms, so an Ethernet cable was provided free of charge (just had to put down a deposit, which was returned at checkout), I had to pay $38.95 for the week’s internet service, but as the server was down nearly the entire week (I was only able to get online 3 times), half that price was refunded. The lack of internet was probably the biggest frustration I encountered the entire week!

Our bags had not arrived yet, so we headed out to get some lunch. The kids opted for Bobby Dee’s Diner, remembering the awesome “build it yourself” nachos from prior trips. Unfortunately, the setup had changed. Everything had to be ordered, the service was very slow, and the selection limited (and NO nachos!) But they made the best of it, and I was able to get a salad and some chicken, so we were satisfied.

After lunch, we stopped by the French Village to find out the crepe schedule at Café du Paris. They had always served crepes at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, but now they were available from 6 am to 5 pm! So we got our first crepes, which were delicious as always. We then headed back to the room just as it started to rain. RAIN?!?!? It never rains here! But rain it did, so since our bags had arrived, I took advantage of the opportunity to unpack and get settled. Happily, the rain lasted only as long as it took to unpack, and then the sun came out and never left for the remainder of our stay.

We decided to check out the new Italian Village pool, the only heated pool on the property. It was pure heaven! I swam for awhile, and then curled up on a lounge chair to read while the kids continued swimming. After a few hours of fun and sun, we headed up to the room to shower and get ready for dinner. Our choice for the first night was The Cricketer’s Pub, the new Irish pub in the Italian Village. Laura chose the Irish Gammon, a nice piece of ham with mashed potatoes. She ate every bite. Danny opted for the Fish & Chips, and ate only a bit of the fish, declaring the chips “gross”. It was to be the first of many, many, many complaints from Mr. Grump. Meanwhile, I chose the Shepherd’s Pie, which I must honestly say was the best I’ve ever had!

The show the first night was the “Mr. Beaches Game Show”, in which 5 guys (2 each from NJ, and Mississippi, and 1 from Delaware) competed to see who was best at several hilarious events. Strutting across the stage, removing shirts, flexing muscles, doing pushups with the wife on his back, balloon popping, all was done in good fun. The guys were all really good sports. We were rooting for one of the Jersey guys, who was from Red Bank, but it came down to Mr. Delaware and one of the guys from Mississippi. The Mississippi guy ended up winning by a hair. We all had a good laugh.

Turks & Caicos TR, Part 2

Our first full day in Paradise dawned sunny and warm, and we headed down to our much anticipated breakfast. I had planned my menu for months--an egg white omelet with tomatoes and cheese, a small chocolate croissant, and a bowl of mangoes. Except there weren’t any mangoes!!! Apparently they are not in season, and I only ever saw them one morning (and took full advantage of their availability, believe me!) OK, so I substituted canteloupe and pineapple instead.

After breakfast, I went over to check out the gym. My plan was for 30 minutes on the elliptical each morning. Only problem was, there were 4 elliptical machines, and they were all in use! So I got on a treadmill instead. I hate the treadmill! Finally an elliptical opened up and I switched over. But these were not the elliptical machines I am used to, and I really did not like them. I did go back the following day and get in 30 minutes of elliptical time (after about a 10 minute wait), but after that I decided I was doing enough walking that I could skip it.

After the gym, I headed for the spa for a facial and pedicure. I always start my trip with a facial, to prepare my skin for the sun exposure. And my tradition is that each morning after breakfast, I go to get pampered, and the kids are on their own until lunch. We met for lunch each day, and I tried to stick with my plan for a salad with some sort of protein, and a potato, rice, or other starch. I really did try. But the salads were anemic at best, and one can only eat so much chicken. So after 3 days of salads, I gave up. So much for my healthy habits on vacation!

After lunch we headed to the beach. Finding an empty chair proved difficult, but we ended up not really making use of the one we found. The water was awesome--beautiful turquoise blue, warm, with gentle waves. The kids played in the sand for a bit, and I took some pictures.

We then headed to the pool, but found the same situation with chairs. Apparently, everyone gets up by 6:30 and marks their territory, because when I looked out the window one morning at that hour, every single chair at the pool had a towel on it.

We also went over to check out the new waterpark. The lazy river was great, and it was so nice to be able to FIT in the tube! After a couple times around, we decided to try out the water slide. We don’t like the ones you have to ride in a tube for (I always fear the tube will go flying out of the slide…), so we climbed up without tubes to do the body slide. And at the TOP we found out that the body slide is for KIDS 52” and under. WHAT?!?!?! You are telling us this NOW? Well, we had no tubes, so we had no choice but to climb back down the steps, against the flow of people coming up. We decided the water park was NOT our favorite spot. (altho we did return several times to the Lazy River).

We decided early on to have dinner every night at a different restaurant. The only one requiring reservations was Kimono’s, the Japanese Tepanyaki place, and we were able to get a decent time only on Saturday night. On Tuesday, we opted for a casual night on the beach at Barefoot By The Sea, a seafood restaurant. Laura decided to try the crab legs, which she liked, and Danny went for “Fish Fingers”. I opted for the Tuna Steak, which looked awesome, but proved to be undercooked. I nibbled around the edges, but raw fish and I just don’t get along, so I left most of it on the plate. They had the cutest little mini rolls, which we all got a kick out of.

We had scheduled a family photo shoot for Tuesday evening, but my dress, which I had sent out to be pressed, and which was promised back by 6 pm, never showed up until 7 pm. So at 6:45, I had to cancel and reschedule for Wednesday evening. Fortunately, Aubra, the photographer, was very accommodating and didn’t seem too upset by the change. So on Wednesday evening, we dressed up a bit and went for the photo shoot. Some of the poses were a bit too, shall we say, suggestive, for my liking. Laura is 13, for Pete’s sake!! I am so not into the whole Prosti-Tot look. But we got some really good shots, and I bought a CD of 20 photos to remember our experience.

Following our photo session, we went to Mario’s, the new Italian restaurant. The selection was quite limited. I chose the salmon, which I had been told was excellent, but again, I found it cooked too little, so I left most of it on the plate. The kids opted for pasta, and were reasonably happy with their selections. Unfortunately, the service was slow and unfriendly--a rarity at Beaches, where everyone seems to have a perpetual smile. We didn’t bother waiting for dessert, we just left.

There had been a power failure in most of the resort for a good part of the day on Wednesday. Fortunately, it did not affect the Italian Village. Unfortunately, it DID affect the internet server, which was why I was unable to get online other than one time after Wednesday. This is apparently a common occurrence following a power failure. Oh well, who wants to sit inside on a computer anyway??

On Thursday morning, I headed back to the spa, this time for a “Foot First” foot massage and reflexology treatment. But this time, I had company. Laura was along for the visit--she was having her first facial! They offer teen spa services at discounted rates, and a facial seemed like a good idea with her blotchy adolescent skin. We got to share a room, which was great fun, as I was able to take pictures! Following our treatments, we stopped in for crepes, which ended up being our lunch for the day, as we were no longer hungry for anything else!

We headed to the beach, planning to go sailing. Unfortunately, the wind was most uncooperative, as it chose that afternoon to disappear! So we opted for Aqua Trikes instead. These are big tricycles with huge plastic wheels that you ride in the water. The bench seat was big enough for all 3 of us, with me in the middle and the kids on either side working the pedals. It was great fun! Once we got going, I decided to try pedaling with my left leg, and was delighted to find that I was able to do it quite easily! So I pedaled around a bit before turning the job back over to Danny. Afterwards, we played in the surf for awhile, relaxing on our floats that I had remembered to bring along. (We’d gotten them on our last trip to Jamaica, and had kept them all this time!)

TC44-AquaTrike.jpg

Thursday’s dinner was another disappointment. We went to Arizona, the Tex-Mex restaurant, which we had enjoyed on prior trips. Maybe it’s just my taste that has changed, but I really just didn’t enjoy the food all that much on this trip. Laura and I both got Chicken Fajitas. We could easily have shared one order and still had leftovers. Danny opted for another order of Fish Fingers, this time with corn on the cob, which he gobbled right up. We hung around for dessert, despite the slow service. A chocolate mousse type cake was awesome, while the apple crisp left a lot to be desired. Danny was very happy with his churros, although he stated that the ones at school are much better. Go figure!

Turks & Caicos TR, Part 4

Friday morning we noticed it was very windy--even more so than usual. When we got to the beach after lunch, we saw that the yellow flag was up. And with good reason--the waves were incredible! We made good use of that wind though, with a great spin on a Hobie Cat, courtesy of Lionel the beach guy. That little sailboat really moved!!

TC37--Hobies.jpg

Hobie Cats on the beach

Afterwards, we rode the waves for awhile, and then headed over to the pool. Seats were once again hard to come by, but one of the nice pool guys helped us out. There are some really cool pool cabanas, which are reserved for people with Butler Suites (the pricier rooms). Apparently, one of them was vacant, and he led us over to it. Talk about the lap of luxury!! The lounge chairs are thickly padded and oh-so-comfy. I could have taken a nap! We were nicely shaded, too. I opted to skip the pool, due to the chilly breeze, so I just sat on that cushy lounge chair and read my book. Ahhhh, total relaxation!

Friday night’s dinner was a beach party. This had been touted as great fun by my friend Dede, who had recently returned from Beaches. Well, obviously it’s a matter of perspective, because not only did we find the food pretty gross (other than the ribs, which were awesome), but the whole thing had a Sesame Street theme, including a show, with singing. The kids were just mortified. We stayed long enough to eat a little, and bailed out!

This time the kids both wanted to swim, so I sat wrapped in towels and watched them. Afterwards, I took a little stroll around the rest of the Italian Village. I wanted to check out the other buildings and see if I could figure out the configuration of rooms. Why?

Because I booked my return trip! For my 50th birthday, just 18 months away, I will be back in Paradise with my baby sister Debbie, my BFF Tracey, and other friends! I knew I wanted a Butler Suite (hey, you only live once…), and I snagged the only one that is a beachfront walkout! I also managed not only the 55% discount they were offering when you book at the resort, but also some further discounts as a Sandals Select member. Not too shabby!

Before we knew it, it was Saturday, our last day of vacation. As I headed to the spa for the last time, I tried to think about the fact that I would be coming back in just 18 months. I finished my treatment and went to enjoy my last crepe. As much as I’ll miss them, it’s a good thing they are only a vacation thing, or I would soon be bursting out of my clothes!

The winds were even higher than the day before, and the yellow flags were still up on the beach. No sailing today, as all the Hobies were pulled far up on the sand. The waves were coming high up on the beach, sometimes as far up as the chairs! We floated on the waves for awhile, but after being tossed around quite a bit, we opted for the still waters of the pool. The pool water was so warm, it was nearly like a hot tub. The kids played their pool games, while I relaxed on a float. We had dinner reservations, so we had to head up to get ready long before we wanted to say goodbye to the water!

Dinner at Kimonos was great fun. We had a family of 5 from New York, and a father and son from Ohio, who were able to get in without a reservation only because they had listed us as a party of 5, when we actually were only 3. Our hibachi chef, Taylor, was a real hoot, and kept us laughing with his antics and silly riddles. The food was excellent, and overly plentiful, as none of us came close to clearing our plates.

After dinner, Laura claimed fatigue and opted to stay in the room, but Danny and I headed down to the Jacuzzi for one last soak. It was cool enough in the water that we could stay in for nearly an hour! But at last, we had to say farewell to the pleasure of the warm water. We headed upstairs to shower and finish packing, as our bags had to be outside the door before we went to bed.

5:15 AM comes VERY early! I slept surprisingly well, maybe because I set 2 alarms AND a wakeup call. But before I knew it, Reville was blowing (literally--that is the alarm ring tone on my cell phone!) I got up and dressed, and then woke the kids up at 5:30. I had kept only a small duffle bag to toss our jammies and toothbrushes in, and we were out the door in no time, and ready to check out.

Promptly at 6 AM the shuttle van pulled up and we climbed in with our bags for the short trip to the airport. Before we knew it, we were up and away, waving goodbye to the beautiful turquoise waters and white sandy beaches of Turks and Caicos. We had originally been scheduled for an 11:35 flight direct to JFK, but for some reason they stopped running that flight on Sundays. So we were rescheduled for the early flight to Miami, with a 5 hour layover before flying up to JFK. I called the airline to say, “what the heck?”, and the very nice reservation agent was able to switch us to a better flight. This one had only a 2 hour layover in Miami, just long enough to clear customs and get to our gate for boarding. The difference is, we were flying to Laguardia instead of JFK, and getting in at our original 3 PM time, rather than 6:35. Oh, and the flight was full, so they had to upgrade us. To First Class! *sigh*, such a tough situation to deal with!

So now, the countdown begins. 18 months from today, I will turn 50. And 18 months from yesterday, I will return to paradise. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate!

Turks & Caicos TR, Bonus Section

"A Giant Sushi Roll, A Roasted Turkey, and A Venti Mocha-Latte With A Shot Of Raspberry"

On Wednesday, I had decided to change my massage to a seaweed wrap. The therapist, Shenette, had recommended it, saying that it was helpful for circulation and fluid retention. It was also something I’d never done before, so I decided I was up for the adventure.

On entering the room, I was given a little package of “disposable underpants”. With great trepidation, I opened the package, not sure what I was going to see. It turned out to be pretty much a thick strip of paper with an elastic band. Okaaaayy… I put them on, relieved to see that they did actually fit. Having been told to lay down on the table, which was covered in a thin plastic wrap, I did so. And immediately began to sweat. And I NEVER sweat! I covered up with a towel, and waited to see what was next.

Shenette came back in and painted on the seaweed--a thick, green slime. I suspect I looked a lot like a mud wrestler when it was done! I FELT like a giant roll of sushi! When she finished painting , she wrapped me in the plastic wrap, and then in a foil wrap. Now I felt like a turkey, all basted and ready to roast! (although I was already roasting…)

While the seaweed was “setting”, I enjoyed a nice face massage, which smelled like chocolate. Now THIS I could appreciate! The chocolaty aroma superseded the seaweed smell, and was far more pleasant.

After awhile, it was time to get unwrapped and head in to the shower. The air felt cool and wonderful after all that roasting time. I caught a look in the mirror and practically scared myself! Yikes!:scared1: NOT a look that really works for me. I rinsed off all the seaweed, and was pleasantly surprised to find my skin was soft and silky smooth.

The last part of the treatment was to be slathered with some sort of pina colada smelling cream. Not sure about the turkey/chocolate/pina colada combo, but I certainly smelled good! I felt good and smelled good! When I got off the table, I had to wipe myself down or I think my clothes would have slid right off my body! I left the spa feeling positively decadent.

Saturday I went in for my final treatment, which was meant to be a simple “Tropical Bliss Massage”’ The therapist asked if I would like a coffee scrub, since it was my last day. She explained that it would exfoliate all the dried sun damaged skin. I figured, “what the heck”, and happily agreed to the change.

I was again offered the strange disposable underpants, but this time I declined. Just a little too weird for me, thanks. I lay facedown on the table--no plastic wrap this time thank goodness! And then Rose began to scrub me from head to toe with a fragrant mixture of coarse sugar, fruity oil, and of course, coffee. Now, I really don’t like coffee, and I actually don’t even like the smell of it, but this stuff smelled really really good! I felt as if I were going through the pot-scrubber cycle in my dishwasher! I could practically feel the sun-dried skin sloughing away. After flipping over onto my back so she could scrub the front of my legs and arms, it was off to the showers again.

This time, the view in the mirror was far less scary. And the feeling of my skin as I rinsed away the Starbucks was just amazing! Back on the table, I was ‘remoisturized’ with a pleasant, fruity smelling cream, This part of the massage was so relaxing that I must confess I fell asleep, at least briefly. I was sorry to see it end, as I knew it was the last session of pampering for this trip.

And that Venti Mocha-Latte with a shot of Raspberry? That was ME!:lmao:

Awesome trip report, Wendy!!! Those pics are just so beautiful. And DH actually looked at them himself. Thought I would faint. He even said we should go somewhere like that one day.

I'm so glad you had a good, relaxing time. You certainly deserve it.

Ok, first and last post of the night... trying to get to bed, still have to put on the new sheets, and DIS is incredibly slow for me again.

Hope its nothing. DMom and DDad had this issue a few months ago, turns out that their well is fed by the same underground stream as a close neighbor and it is a slow refill. So, its not such a big deal normally, but if both houses use a lot of water in the same day, DMoms house gets very low pressure since she's second in line. I guess watering the whole lawn could do the same thing... hope it turns out to be that simple! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Almost exactly the same thing I was thinking of!! I had seen pics of the half round cake, and then I planned on putting it on the sheet cake "ocean" to make sure there was enough cake. I even have the pretzel sticks bought and waiting. The Rolo's for cannons are a great idea though! I had been trying to figure out what to use for cannons or portals, and had only come up w/ those gummy lifesavers... Rolos would taste much better.

M&N...those pics are gorgeous! Please help me with some Pa geography....I know where Harrisburg is...where is Hershey in relation? And Amish country? I may make this meet an extended visit and check all these cool places out!
DL55....glad to hear that things in the bowl seem to be doing better!
.
I was going to help to you out with this, but M&N beat me to it. Lancaster is beautiful! (and the outlets are tons of fun) if you do decide to spend more time in the area. There's actually a ton of wonderful sites to see in PA. I suppose you could think I'm biased living here, but a lot of them I didn't even know about, and as I got older and started researching my own local vacations and such, I was dumbfounded to find all the state had to offer.

Wendy - Welcome back! TR looks awesome. I only had time to breeze thru the pics, but I'll definitely be headed back to read up.

Hi everybody else!

Hi everyone!!! Had a cold, rainy and dreary day here today. Perfect weather for my mood this weekend.

I kinda stayed away for a couple of days so I wouldn't post and take my PO'd attitude out on all of you. I am just so sick of DS's mom's lies and her telling him to lie. The custody agreement is that she can pick him up at 5pm on Friday's on the weekend he goes to visit her. For the past 2 Fridays, she has called DH asking him to pick up DS early. Both weeks, she has lied about where they were going to let us have her way. 1st time-a minor league baseball game. She told us the game started at 5pm. DH called me to check the website and sure enough the game started at 7:10 pm. The stadium is only 10 minutes from our house. Then she changed the story that they had to get ready at their friends house. Their friend's house is only 5 minutes from here.

Then this past Friday, she calls DH about picking up DS early again. She said they were going fishing someplace 2 hours away. DH says no and she hangs up on him. Turns out she did take DS fishing....5 minutes from our house!!!! And on top of it, DS is 16 and needs to have a fishing license. She won't spend the $20.00 and buy him one. Instead she tells him if someone from the game commission comes around, to lie and say he's 15. :furious::furious::furious:

DH and I are working so hard to get DS to tell the truth and she does this. You can't imagine how p****d I am. Tell your kid to lie and break the law. I don't care what law it is, you just don't do that. And I'm sure her BF has a license but he's more important than her own child. Part of the reason we want to move so badly is to get DS away from her. How can he be raised to be a respectable member of society when she is telling him it's ok to lie and break the law. It may not be a major law but it's still the law. And I never thought that I feel that a child should be taken away from him mom except in cases of abuse. I just don't know what to do anymore. I just want to cry knowing that his mom is re-enforcing the bad behavior.

Ok, now that my ranting is over.....

D&D, that cake is great. I showed it to DD5 and now she wants that kind of cake. :confused3 All I can say is I'm glad DD13 is in charge of this part of her birthday. :lmao: And I have our dates blocked off for the big Tker meet. :cool1::cool1: Be there or be square. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

DL55, sorry you had some problems with the water pressure. We've never done the town tour for lack of water pressure but we have done to suck up heat or air conditioning.

Magikitty, we only have a little dog and she is a pain to bathe. I swear it looks like a bomb exploded in our bathroom by the time she is done. And that's only with 2 inches of water in the tub. Hope your DWI is better soon. Oh, and did the spray on bandage sting at all? Sounds like something that would be good for my kids as long as there was no sting.

M&N, Jr is no better than Kyle when it comes to his temper and trying to spin out people after the checkers. What was he thinking?

Wonderful pictures Wendy. You have such a clever way of writing the experiences too. I just loved the sunset pics on the beach. Too bad the food was disappointing.

Sorry for the continuing saga of the poor excuse for a mom, Racer. You know your DS has it in him to be a good kid but the lousy example that's being set by his mom is just...(since I can't say anything nice I had better just keep silent but you get my drift!) And what's so heartbreaking is she doesn't care. Does DS care that she's lying and telling him to or does he just shrug it off? You certainly will never change her but you do have to put up with that.....
It kind of seems almost better if there were physical abuse because then you could keep her away from him. Psychological abuse is just as bad.
