Four-mer TKers...4 one, 4 all, 4 ever

Hello TKers!

I'm jealous of your nice day Magikitty. It's 50 here but cloudy so no sun; it feels cool and damp out. I've been trying to get my rear in gear and get some chores done. Tomorrow is DS7's (Will be 8 tomorrow!) birthday party and we are having 4 kids come so far. I'm still waiting on 2 parents to call and confirm with a Yes or No but who knows if they ever will. Don't they know what RSVP means? The term R.S.V.P. comes from the French expression "répondez s'il vous plaît", meaning "Please respond". If R.S.V.P. is written on an invitation it means the invited guest must tell the host whether or not they plan to attend the party. It does not mean to respond only if you're coming, and it does not mean respond only if you're not coming (the expression "regrets only" is reserved for that instance). It means the host needs a definite head count for the planned event, and needs it by the date specified on the invitation. Just a little clarification for anyone who didn't know what RSVP meant.

Magikitty: I am getting so excited for you! Just thinking about Disney World makes me happy. :cutie:

LITC: I'm also getting excited for you too! We drove last year from NH and it wasn't bad. It sure beat paying the price for 4 plane tickets. We will be driving again when we go in November but have added in more stop overs so DH isn't so tired from driving. I am not the greatest driver so I was to freaked to help out.

BKMETV: I've always wanted a basketball hoop out in the driveway. Unfortunatly our driveway is at an incline so no hoop out there. We live on a dead end street so we could potentially have one at the edge of the road but the road hasn't been paved in a while and is all bumpy, not great for bouncing. I hope to come up with something someday.

D&D: So how is the lawn work going? Going to the zoo sounds so cool!

racetrack: Where are you girl? You weren't around last night. I hope all is well.

DL55: So where did you eat? Was it good?

Just had to share a "shake your head" moment with you all. My cousin is helping out at a bake sale for her kids school so they can raise money for a field trip. She asked a few family members (me, my Mom, our Aunt, out Grandmother) if we would help out by baking something to sell. We all said sure. She asked us to drop the items off this morning between 8:30AM and 9:00AM at the bake sale location as the sale was starting at 9AM. I was at the location by 8:50AM and not a sole was around othe then my Mom (The sale was being held at a Shaws supermarket). We decided to wait in her car until my cousin showed up. About 5 minutes later my Aunt shows up with her goodies. No cousin still. I left my stuff with my Mom as my husband needed to be some where so I needed to get home. I called my Mom later and she said that me cousin never showed until 9:20Am! :scared1: Not only that but no Thank you or nothing. I guess she was to busy arguing with the other woman who had shown up to help about where the table was going and such. Nothing like being organized!

Have a good day!

Hey there Pikester! I'm still here. Just found out on the theme parks board that MK is extending their hours when I'm there...not a good sign. I guess they're expecting big crowds.

I am so with you about basic manners. They are so lacking in today's society. You took the time and effort to invite people to celebrate a birthday (congrats by the way!) and they do not have the decency to acknowedge your invitation and to reply? Not even reply promptly, but at all?

I am very into manners. Please, thank you, pardon me, excuse me. Is it really all that hard? Not so much a stickler for hooty-tooty stuff, but just common decency.

I'm sorry the bake sale didn't go off as planned. Your family was so very kind to support the school's efforts.

Hey Pike, sorry to hear about all the manner trouble in your life right now. RSVP's I swear people act like they have never heard that before. Maybe from now on when we have peopple RSVP, only then do they find out the location of the party!!! Maybe that will get 'em!

As far as your cousin, you must be nicer than me because I would have called her right up and said do not ask me to help out again if this is the way you treat people who go out of your way to help you. (But that's me!!)

Hope you are having a good day now.

Hey Kitty! I guess I better double check the hours for our days as well, YIKES!

Well...the yard work is done. Took 2 days but its all thatched and fertilized and just waiting for Mother Nature to help it green up. Holy cow is my back killing me. I think a nice whirlpool bath tonight will be good. I'll just listen to the race on the radio.

M&N - Thanks so much for the envelope of goodies. My son's eyes lit up when he saw he had mail, AND it was a big envelope. That PA coloring book is cute (he colored a page right away) and those brouchers are very informative. He will have enough stuff to write his report. You are such a dear for helping him out!!!

Pikester - I know what you mean about RSVPs. My family is TERRIBLE at replying. :headache:Drives me nuts. Sorry your weather isn't better. We had 70s again today and sunny. Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow, then get cold. I am sorry... but I declare winter officially OVER!!!!! We put all our winter stuff away and brought down the garden and patio stuff.

Lighttech - I might have a Buzz for you. Its not Red, White & Blue but it does talk and wings pop out.

Hi LITC, Kitty, DL55.

Evening!!! Had an absolutely beautiful day here. Opened all the windows in the house and it just smells so good in here.

Pikester, sorry you didn't have nice weather today but maybe it's heading your way.

Magikitty, :yay::yay: I can't believe it's almost time for you to leave for vacation!

D&D, Good luck tonight!!!! I need to catch up and pass you again. Can't have the "newbie" showing me up. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't want to jinx myself... someone could always start crying, or emerge from a bedroom, but its not yet 9pm, and there are no kids in eyesight. DH is complacently watching the race and I am sitting at the computer on DIS w/ a nice cool glass of wine in hand. Ahhhh... laundry, dishes and cleaning be darned... life is good.

Happy early bday to DS!! I thought our sons birthday's were close. (DSs is early May.) Good luck w/ the party situation. I totally agree. Where are people's manners?

I'm with you on manners. I'm not sure what is so difficult about it. Please, thank you, excuse me... not to mention a simple smile are very basic things that make a world of difference. Call me old fashioned, but DH and I insist that DS learns his "P's and Q's." And, I don't buy in to he's too young, she's just being a kid, etc. I think kids should be kids and have fun and be silly, but that doesn't mean they can't be polite and respectful too.

I didn't realize your trip was so soon! I'm so excited for you!

I must have missed this somewhere. Did DS need PA stuff? I'm a PA resident too. Is there anything I can help with?
Lighttech - I might have a Buzz for you. Its not Red, White & Blue but it does talk and wings pop out.

Hi LITC, Kitty, DL55.

Really? So kind of you! PM me if you want, and let me know if you are looking to sell.

HELLLLLOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!?!?!?

I'm finallly here and everyone is off being busy living their lives?!?!?!?

Where ARE you????

:confused3
()

Hi!
Fine, but the boards are super slow for me tonight.
And, I was right, DS just wandered out of his room to watch a few minutes of "racecars" w/ DH. But, he went right back to bed, so no harm, no foul.

Mine were quiet for all of 10 minutes before the fighting began. But they are really tired and should be settling down very soon.

Oh, ever since they did the last upgrade here, the dis is terribly slow for a lot of people. Some nights I just give up.

DD5's birthday is early May too. I haven't even thought about what we are going to do yet. She hasn't even mentioned anything that she even wants as a gift.

I think I might be giving up tonight.
Its just taking so long.

DS has been talking about his party since last year. He gets really into it. At least this year he was old enough to request a reasonable theme... sometimes its been something crazy and barely understandable. I've had to make suggestions. This year it was between a teddy bear picnic and a pirate party. Couldn't get more opposite, but that's DS. All boy, but a totally sweet and sensitive side too.

Alright. I cave. Slow DIS wins... and the 2 glasses of wine I had... :rotfl: I'm such a "lightweight" these days! Pregnancy and nursing will do that to you I suppose. I rarely have a drink anymore.

'Night Racetrack!

That is exactly how DD5 is. She actually asked DD13 to make a pirate ship cake for her. But I think we have her settled on a mad hatter cake. Have no clue on colors yet. One day it's pink and purple then it's blue and yellow. I'm sure we'll get a few more choices until her actual birthday.

How's Baby lighttech?

Good morning!

wow, all this cake talk has gotten me scared. Are birthday cakes really that imaginative? I love those Mad Hatter cakes, with all the polka dots. I think my fave combo is purple and turquoise. All you Mommies rock for doing those!

I have a DWI: a dog washing injury. :lmao: The weather inspired me to try to get my dog washed today. Now, my baby is a Rottie mix, about 130 pounds at last count. And he HATES to get washed. Today's ploy: get into my swimsuit and get into the shower with him. Well, that didn't work! Pretty much destroyed the bathroom with all the pleading and pushing. Once in there, I closed the door on us and he was trapped. (too bad he's not smart to realize its just plexiglass). Pushing and pulling him, I got my foot caught under the door and have a pretty good gash. But its all worth it with my sweet smelling pooch (he does happen to like the doggie cologne).

My injury lead to a great discovery. Do you guys know about this stuff? Curad makes this spray bandage, with antibiotic cream in it. Its also waterproof. It goes on like a hairspray, but its dries and AHA! Its amazing stuff. We have that kind of stuff for stitches, but I didn't know it was available at the store.

Still no shirts packed for next week. I guess I'll just go topless.

Already too much excitement for this morning. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day without injury!

Mad Hatter cake sounds pretty cool.
BL is doing ok right now. We all had another bout w/ the stomach flu the last 2 weeks, but we're down to head colds/allergies right now. (knock wood.) Hopefully the weather turn around will start to help everybody out)

Oh my! Bathing suits in the shower and topless vacations! What is going on w/ you MK! Very risque... :rotfl:
Hope your foot is feeling better.

Gotta run. I actually have to go into work today for 1/2 hour! (how ridiculous... I need to check in, but there's a complete hold on OT, and 30 minutes is all I could squeeze out of my weekly schedule to leave early.) So, luckily, DS has a birthday party near work, so, like it or not, he's coming w/ me to work, and then we're heading to the party. (I mean whether my boss likes it or not... DS loves coming to my work. I've never just taken him before, but DH and him have visited on a Saturday now and then.)

Gotta run!

Well I'm back...let DH use the computer yesterday.
MagiKitty Hope the ouchy isn't too bad. Our dog doesn't like baths either but then we just usually hose her off in the back yard.
No washing for us right now...no water. We have lost pressure..again..Every 2 years like clockwork. I hope it's just the pressure sensor and not the pump or the tank. :headache: We may just go wandering around town today to take advantage of toilets. :lmao:

MagiKitty You are a brave woman! I have actually thought about giving our German Shepherd a bath that way. Then my oldest DD reminded me that I would either have to dry her since she is long haired or smell the wet dog smell for hours. Still may break down one day because the vet can't seem to keep a groomer and she sure needs a bath. I hope your DWI is feeling better.

We are heading to a Jiu-Jitsu tournament today for the kids at the academy. DS is not participating but rather going to cheer "his kids" on and probably act as a ref. He can't get a long with his sister for nothing but he loves helping teach kids in class. Go figure.

Gotta go toss one of the kids in the bathtub... no dog though! Talk at ya'll later!

Its strange how the mind works...I'm avoiding cleaning/packing for my trip. I was finding my swimsuit for the trip, tried it on, and figured since I was already dressed, may as well brave washing the dog. Luckily, his coat is short, so he dries pretty quickly with a good rubdown. I usually wash him on the deck, but there was no way I was letting my neighbours see me in my suit!

Lighttech, 30 minutes at work is just silly! Hope little Lighttech enjoys visiting Mom's work.

DL55....don't belittle the importance of toilets! BF and I were watching the Little House on the Prarie marathon last night (don't ask) and I am so glad we have modern plumbing! Hope the pressure issue isn't too serious...

marie, that's so sweet of DS to help out and support other kids. It seems always that kids get along with other kids better than their own siblings. Once they get older, though, they'll definitely appreciate family more.

DWI looks worse than it is. I have to wear flip=flops so its not rubbed against. Its kinda too cold for it though.

My tech stuff to bring to Florida is just way too heavy. don't trust enough to check it in, so I'll just have to schlepp it on the plane with me. Remember the good old days when it was just a camera? now its a video cam, digital cam, MP3 player, GPS, speakers, cell phone and all the cords! That's half my carryon right there!

Hey Kitty, sorry to hear about the DWI, hope you feel better in time for the trip. And topless??? Well that would certainly make it easy for me to spot you! :rotfl:

OK, I am not even going to TRY to catch up at this point. Can someone give me a synopsis of the past week?

We got home about 4:40 this afternoon. I will post my trip report right here on the TK thread, complete with photos, as soon as I get them loaded. Give me a couple days--my brains are fried right now!

Suffice it to say, we had a great time!

Oh, and please notice my new ticker!!! Yup, I'm going back for my 50th! Just 18 months to go!
