 D&D!!!! You rock! That thread totally helped me out....I priced out my vacay on the Disney site and it is cheaper! About $70 cheaper! I just eft a message with my AAA agent and she's going to make the necessary adjustments. That savings alone will pay for BF's one day ticket. We'll upgrade it using my Disney Rewards...

 Yeah Kitty!!!!
You're so welcome! Glad I can help ya save some money.

Racetrack - I know what you mean about shopping the discount stores for food. I have become a big time Aldi lover. I save a bundle on food there. I clip every coupon I can find and then try to share/swap coupons with others. Been shopping on double coupon day and that rocks too.

MagiKitty Glad to hear you have saved more money on your Disney trip. :thumbsup2
for those whose DHs' jobs are s**king...:grouphug: It's got to get better.

LivinInTheCastle Hope the tooth gets taken care of ASAP.

Does Aldi take coupons? There's one in the next town. but my local grocery doubles coupons. I'll have to check it out.

OMG! i just called BF to tell him about my newest savings scheme. And what does he want to do? Extend the vacation?! He wants to go to Sea World and maybe US. I have a US AP, so that's cool. And I can get free Sea World tix using reward points. So we'd just have to get a hotel offsite for a few days and maybe extra days for the rental car. He even said---HOLD ONTO SOMETHING--if its cheaper, we could return the car after a week and use Disney trans for the last days of the trip.

I checked out airfare with new dates and there's no difference. His evil plan is working!

Boy, do I need to win the lottery now!

Racetrack, if I have to, I'll put the girls on the flight in their jammies. Probably be easier that way. My oldest niece graduated from high school on Saturday and her father (my stupid-a** brother) didn't go or even congratulate her. He left the family a year and half ago, and my family sided with my SIL and the girls. They've been incredibly strong and brave these last few years. I'm so proud of them.

Racetrack - Thanks for the Hershey update. Yes, if I'm still not on the boards much, PLEASE email me if things get settled.

Kitty - Good for you for giving those girls such a treat. It sounds like they could use it. And, I don't want to say anything bad about your brother, since I don't know him... one of those things. I'm sure you can b**ch about him all you want... he's family. Its a whole 'nother story if a "stranger" does it, but that does stink that things worked out that way. My parents were at my graduation - which is the important part, but no one else from my family really came, and I was giving the valedictory speech! It was an awfully long time ago, and I don't believe in holding grudges, but it still hurts a little when I'm reminded of it.

All of you coupon clippers and deal searchers, I could definitely use some help there. I buy almost exclusively store brand, and we don't get the paper, so I'm kind of clueless. Can coupons still be useful if you usually buy store brand anyway? Is it worth it to pick up the Sunday paper just to clip the coupons? Have any of you had any luck w/ the online coupon sites?

Everybody else, I've only skimmed a page or 2, so I've no idea what's going on w/ you. Hope you are doing well!

Oh! Almost forgot! I did manage to come across the lego cake pic. FABULOUS! I've toyed w/ the idea of using fondant before, but haven't tried it yet. I'm very impressed!

Aldi does NOTtake coupons. However their store brands are cheaper and actually taste good. Produce is hit and miss. Right now their milk is incredibly cheap (1.79/gal) I buy a lot of frozen stuff, laundry stuff, canned cream soups (.49cents a can) and yogurt from Aldi. Just remember to take a quarter to use a cart (it is returned when you return the cart) and bring your own bags as they charge .5-.10cents per bag.

I buy a lot of store brands too but still buy name brands with coupons. The Sunday paper is worth it for us as the coupons help us save more on stuff that is already on sale. And, on double coupon days, I can save a bundle. For instance, my family loves Quaker Granola Bars. When on sale at our store they are $2.00/box. The coupon is save $1.00 on 2 boxes. On double coupon day I pay $1.00 per box. Also had coupons for Dr. Pepper liters - save .55 cents on 1 bottle. Double that on days when the liters are on sale for $1 and they PAY ME .10 cents per 2 liter bottles.
I have not had luck w/ on-line coupon sites as our stores won't take any printed coupons. Too much fraud I hear. :sad2:

Thanks for the Lego cake compliments. We'll be waiting to see your pics in May.

So THAT's what an Aldi is! I've seen them around and always wondered. We don't have one here, but I know there is one somewhere that I go often enough to remember seeing it. Might just have to check it out.

MK, how cool that you saved the $$ for your trip! I just switched both my car service and hotel reservations for our Easter trip and saved a bunch! Like, over 30%!! Gotta love that. Also, DD and I will do our pedicures at WalMart ($20 each) before our trip, rather than just me when we get there, and that is another nice savings (plus she gets a pedi too!)

I don't do coupons. but when the things I normally buy are on sale, I do stock up. The problem is that most of the stuff I use doesn't get coupons. We mostly buy fresh stuff, and the organic/natural stuff. It's a rare coupon that will help me out, so I don't bother.

I feel for those of your DHs with job issues. My BFF has been with the company 22 years and is just waiting for the axe to fall. They laid of 10% of the employees on Friday!:scared1: She is just biding her time. I pray she doesn't lose her job.

Oh, and I can fall asleep ANYWHERE! I once fell asleep at Karaoke, with the music blaring all around me. Hey, I was tired...

I went back to the gym today!!! :yay: Did 20 minutes on the elliptical. It felt soooooo good! Tomorrow I'm aiming for 30 minutes, and then i'll work on increasing speed, resistance, etc. Gotta take it slow though.

I don't know what they changed here on the DIS, but at least the post times are accurate now. I couldn't get on last evening or earlier today (not talking about when the site was down). It just wouldn't load. Oh well, better late than never!

Aldi is a small, completely stripped down type of grocery store. To save you money you have to pay .25 cents to use a cart (refundable), bring your own bags or pay for them, only carry their name brand with some special buys on name brands from time to time and they don't take coupons, checks or credit cards. Just debit and cash.
I was leery about going there at first but now I get most of our groceries there. Produce has been better - 99 cents for box of cherry tomatoes, .49cents/lb for bananas, baby carrots are .99 per bag, bag of onions .79 cents. etc. They do have meat, but I don't buy meat unless it is fresh. Their bread and buns are under $1 per bag or loaf.

There are always a bunch of threads about Aldi on the budget board. You either like it or hate it. I will do almost anything to save a buck, so I have no problem with the store. Only non-name brands that I will buy that acutally TASTE GOOD.

Lighttech....you cannot possibly think anything worse about my brother than I already have. We had all hoped it was a midlife crisis--he married his grade school sweetheart, my youngest niece has been very sickly--but there was just a point where we've washed our hands of him. Don't get me wrong, he's still one of my big brothers and I still love him. But I love my SIL and nieces too. And its very important for my young ladies to have self-respect and strength. My siblings and I haven't spoken to him in months, and even my parents have stopped trying.

As for coupons, I only buy the Sunday papers. My local dollar store also has them for for 75 cents instead of the usual $1.50. I match up the sales with the coupons. Like my local grocery has Colgate toothpaste on sale this week for $1.49. there was coupon on sunday for 75 cents, when doubled, gives me the toothpaste for free. I only cut what I'll use, but try to give coupons to those who may use it--like the diaper and baby ones.

Wendy, what are you Easter plans? and congrats on the great deals!

I don't know if anyone is following it, but make sure your computer is protected against this Conficker virus that's set to launch tomorrow. It may not do anything, but its always good to be extra protected!

Magikitty, funny you should mention that computer virus. I just got done completely scanning my computer and running every update possible. I don't want to go through the trouble of trying to fix my computer again. Once was more than enough for that.

We have an Aldi's here but I should at a different discount store. This one deals with a lot of name brands. It's a very limited selection but it's stuff that they have changed the packaging on, or the sell by date is getting close. As long as the sell by date is more than a month away, I'll get it. Heck, in my house, it will gone in a week anyway.

I have family like that too. Not my wacky SIL but some members of my family are really messed up. I avoid them at all costs. I've been told by many people you just can't change some people. And sometimes you just need to walk away.

Hey folks:

LITC - Hope the tooth is feeling better.

Grand Floridian is my absolute favorite. Its so girly. I would love to do afternoon tea there, but my BF (sorry) is not the tea-type and would probably ruin it for me!

I thought GF was breathtaking, especially done up with the Victorian Christmas Decorations...we walked through the lobby on our way to Narcoossee's and DH turned to me and said "thank god we're not staying here".....MEN???

I have 4 kids and talk to myself all the time. You said that like it's something abnormal. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

It's the only intelligent conversation I have around here.

I am updating Norton on the kids' computers as we speak, and running scans on all 3 of our computers. Not taking ANY chances!! But for some reason, I can't get DS's computer to scan--I push the "fix" button or the "scan" button and nothing happens. What is THAT about? Gotta go figure it out...

BTW, MK, we are going to Turks and Caicos. The kids don't know yet--I won't tell them until the day before Easter when they have to help me pack! I booked this trip back in June, and it's long since been paid for, or believe me, we wouldn't be going!

Hello everyone
Didn't do any extra scanning of my computer...seems to be working.

Afternoon everyone! grey and gloomy today, and that's just outside. Today has been dragging on and on! Luckily, all seems well on the computer front here too. Knock on wood!

Wendy, what a great surprise that's going to be for the family! Are you doing an all-inclusive? It'll be such a wonderful change from the crazy weather we've had here.

My husband David Cook is guesting on AI tonight. He's going against my loveslave Sawyer on Lost. Decisions, decisions....

Have a good day everyone!

Hey all, I'm "back". Thanks for all the concern! Went to the dentist yesterday and turns out it isn't a tooth problem at all. I have an ulcer on my gum! Said it is actually pretty common and all they can give you is a medicinal mouthwash to help with the swelling. It will last 14-21 days............... I hope I can make it that long. I can't close my mouth all the way and everytime I open it it aggrivates the wound.

Had a horrible day at work. The Vp's little suck up right hand lied about me and said I was doing something wrong and ignoring her when she talks to me about it. BS! I can't tell you how many people she has had fired. She does it for kicks. She is super b****y. If I get laid off or fired right now, I'm so in trouble. Going to spend most of the night job hunting.

Oh, and MK---that sounds good. I'll put it on my "plans" which I really haven't made yet!! Can't wait I get to meet my first TK friend!

Hey LITC...glad to hear that it wasn't a tooth problem...hopefully the ulcer will clear up quick.

Not much new here...worked all day and waiting for AI to watch MK's hubby perform.

HI there ev!! Sorry you had to work all day--same here! Just got my DH off to his job! Which is sort of like having a second job!

Sorry...had to go do a little kid wrangling...Scott was OK...Chris was definitely my fav of the night, I even had Pepper vote for me.
