Morning Ladies:

No snow here...thank goodness, we already have plenty.

Send her up here...we'll take her tobogganing and the kid's have a great snow fort in the backyard. Tunnels and everything. Mind you they don't close schools here for snow...has to be a MAJOR blizzard.

How much do you have on teh ground now? Are you above or below your average? We've just been having more sleet and freezing rain in our forecasts it seems. Some has missed me...I'm not complaining!

Hey DL55---Just noticed your ticker. That's a cool one. I had the days counted down at school. I wasn't on the DIS then. I guess he's excited about it or you would not have the countdown. Is he content to mess around at home or is he the kind who has to get another job to keep busy? I thought I would have another part time job by now. Had no idea I would be subbing---but that's only 2 this year so far. But when I figured the cost of gas and the small hourly wage, it wasn't worth it at the time. Things may change. The time will go fast.
My DH isn't excited. :hyper: I told him he couldn't post his countdown on the whiteboard outside his office until he had only 1 year left. :rolleyes2 He wanted to start posting a couple of months ago. :rotfl: He's a golfer, so Mon, Weds, and Fri are spoken for. He likes to enter tournaments so there are some weekends accounted for also. I suspect some traveling will be involved to check out new courses. :beach:

I want to share my nit-wit act for the day. (well, the only one so far) I was making DD some eggs in the microwave....When I went to squirt in the liquid butter I ended up putting in mustard! :sad2: Luckily, I caught it right after I did it. If I had served them to DD she probably would have never trusted me to make eggs ever again. I set them aside on the counter and as luck would have it DH came home for the day (iced out) so I asked him if he would like to try a "culinary experiment". Now granted DH can be difficult at times but when food is involved he is always easy. Anyway, wouldn't you know it... he liked it!

DL55, I haven't always been allergic to poison ivy. When I was a child I plowed through it just like your mom. Only in my adulthood did it start to affect me. So beware! Never presume you are totally immune. M&N, looks like disliking cold weather isn't the only thing that happens with old age!

25 surgeries and never a sniffle.

I seem to have broken that streak. I think I'm getting the flu.

My nose has been running for weeks--no big deal, sinus thing, typical winter.

The past week, I've been sneezing, more and more each day--no big deal, probably allergies (but to what??)

Last night my throat felt a little scratchy, but since I can't open my mouth I couldn't check for redness--no biggie, probably just from postnasal drip.

This morning I got up, after very little sleep, with a cough. Just from the postnasal drip.

The cough has gotten worse and moved to my chest. My entire body aches from head to toe. I feel like I'm in a fog. I feel like crud. I am freezing and can't get warm despite tea, a hot neck cradle, and many layers and blankets. My hands are like ice cubes.

I called to let my surgeon know, and the nurse said to call in the AM and give an update and they'll decide then. I have a sinking feeling that any change is NOT going to be in my favor. It's just been going downhill all day.

If we cancel, the soonest I can reschedule is 2 weeks. I will NOT be in the hospital for DS's birthday--it would devastate him. So all my careful planning and preparing will be for naught. Sure, I can redo the schedule, buy new yogurt, and replan all the plans, but how much am I gonna feel like doing if I am sick with the flu?

This is just the pits. I want my mommy...

Hey... for once we're not the ones getting snow - but it is cold and DRY. So dry that the snow that is on the ground is starting to evaporate. Kinda weird to watch snow dry up. :upsidedow

The stomach flu is now in full force. DS woke up at 1am last night covered in - how shall I say... stomach fluid. :crazy2: Bed sheets, pillow, stuffed animals, toys, carpet - EVERYTHING. Projectile vomit anyone????:scared: So we were up all night washing kids, carpets, sheets and throwing the non-salvagable stuff away. Have to bleach the entire house down to get rid of this stuff. Oh, Sukie... it is coming from "both ends". :crazy2: :crazy2: God help us!!!

So for those of you who answered about the basement, is mold just something you learn to live with? DH teased me and said there was even a little fern growing back there. YIKES! It kinds creeps me out thinking there is slimy, grimy stuff possibly growing behind every piece of furniture that is up against a wall.
Actually we don't have mold growing. Maybe its the dehumidifier or other just the dry winter climate that seems to take care of it. Those who do have mold issues are few. I think those in the south have a much harder problem combating mold than we do.

D&DDisney, I hope everyone at your house is feeling better. It stinks when the whole family is sick. I've done the crackers and 7-up but didn't know bananas were good for sick tummys. You learn something new everyday!
Nanners help bind ya up. They've been working well for us. :thumbsup2
I went outside this afternoon to wait for the guy to bring hay today. While I was outside I piddled around and tidied up a bit by cutting down some plants that had died back for the winter. I cut back some cannas, lantana and honeysuckle. After the guy delivered the hay I came back in and went about my regular routine. As we were eating supper and watching tv I started itching... and itching... and itching. Evidently I must be allergic to one of the plants or the hay or something about wiping down that moldy cabinet. Seems like it's always something. :sad2:
When it rains it pours. Hope you feel better soon.

Morning!!! I see it's been slow around here. I've got a wicked sinus infection that's been kicking my butt. Been trying to take it easy so it doesn't get any worse.

Feel better Racetrack!

I've been reading on and off, just no energy at all to post. Thought I'd say hi before you all thought I'd dropped off the face of the earth.
:flower3: Feel better whgrn!

Thanks for the hugs M&N. I covered my mouth so I didn't give you any germs...

What is going on? Where is all this sickness coming from? How can we get rid of it? I am almost looking forward to "mud season" and those dreaded "black flies". Maybe we need to have a "HUG-A-THON". With all those hugs going around we will all look like this~

:grouphug: :grouphug: :crowded: :grouphug: :grouphug: "More the merrier".

whgrn~ I am keeping everything crossed for your surgery to take place. You should see me. My fingers, toes, arms and legs are all crossed. I look like a "twisted sister".:rotfl2:

:wave2: M&N
:wave2: To everyone else.

Well, it's official, or at least it will be when I talkto the doctor in the AM. My temp right now is 101.3*--no surgery for me this week. At least now I know why I feel so crummy.

I would gladly take your germs if it meant you could get your new knee.

Thanks hon. I'll get it. Just not this week. Guess God has something else planned for me. I'm ok with it.

Just goes to show us TKer would do anything for our 'invisible friends'.

whgrn~ You are so right about it not being the right time for your surgery. Get plenty of rest and get well so that when the time "IS" right. Now get in your "jammies" and get ready for bed. Keep us posted.

Good night and God bless.

Wendy - sorry you're not feeling good...hopefully by the time you reschedule the flu and sore mouth will both be gone. :grouphug:

I'd say there probably 3 or 4 feet, it's hard to say because it drifts so much. The snowbanks are 5 feet. That's probably average for Jan/Feb. We had a lot more in Dec which was way above average for snow. I'm just hoping the damn ground hog predicts an early spring next week. I'm really looking forward to a little :beach:

Do you have a Canadian groundhog? We have several in PA who argue who is right.

I predict March 20th:rotfl2:
We've dropped about 25+ degrees since 5pm this evening. DH's trip to Dallas was changed due to weather.

Ya'll stay warm!:goodvibes

But will there be 6 more weeks of winter OR is spring just around the corner?:upsidedow Not much difference to me.

whgrn & D&DDisney & racetrack18kb (& anybody else I might have missed)... I hate that you are all feeling so crappy. Get well soon!

Good to know that "Nanners help bind ya up"! I'll keep that in mind! Being "bound up" made me think of the movie "Wild Hogs". I love that movie!

I decided to keep up my culinary experiments tonight since the first one went so well. I probably cooked more today in one day than I have in the past month! I put together a casserole for supper and made some kolaches for dessert. Oh man, what was I thinking? Good grief! DH might start thinking I should do this all the time!

We had a pretty good round of sleet. Sure enough the Southern drivers lived up to their reputation of not being able to drive well on the icy roads. Here's what the update for our local small town newspaper had to say....
BREAKING NEWS - 287 SHUTDOWN - Northbound U.S. 81/287 traffic just north of the county line in Rhome was completely shutdown just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night because of ice. Five passenger cars, an an 18-wheeler and a Wise County ambulance were stuck in the backup. More than three dozens accidents have been reported since 4 p.m. Most of the accidents have been on U.S 81/287, U.S. 380, Farm Road 1810, FM 730 and FM 51. Sad, I know. :sad2:

Sounds like the the kitchen's been busy too!
I guess if I were stuck I would want a WISE ambulance stuck with me. I just don't like those dumb ones! :lmao:
There's been accidents here too this am. Schools are closed. They rescued someone off the ice on the Susquehanna River yesterday. The plow hasn't come down my street yet. I don't live in a busy area. I can't tell how much I got. The news was showing a layer of ice that you could break off the top. It's pretty as long as I'm inside....and that's where I'll be til later. I'm waiting to see if we get more sleet before shoveling but it may be rain. Why can't we have a regular winter? All snow---not a lot but just snow???

Do you have a Canadian groundhog? We have several in PA who argue who is right.

Yup Wiarton Willie is an albino ground hog. I know last year he and yours disagreed but can't remember who was right.
