Lighttech Sorry about your schedule change. Hopefully it won't be for very long. :flower3:
My sister's princess :bday: :drinking1 :drinking: Just don't over do it

Happy MLK day!
Temps finally above zero now - :cool1: Virtual heat wave at 11*.
Hope everyone else is warming up too.
Not to get too personal, but I know I can express milk at work (I already do) but I'm afraid of what will happen to my milk supply if I'm not nursing from the time he goes to bed at night to the time I get home from work... pumping just isn't quite the same. :sad1:
Sorry, just worrying and needed to get it off my chest. DH isn't being much of a help right now. He's too freaked out about it too... Doesn't know how he's going to get 2 kids out of the house and get up so early w/o any help.
:rotfl2: Get it off my chest....:lmao: :lmao: That's for sure. :lmao: Good one! :rotfl2:

Pikester and I went shopping yesterday. The two stores that we went to where I got the best deals were JC Penny's and The Bonton. At JC Penny's I got two winter coats for my granddaughter size 4T for about $12. I have started my birthday shopping for everybody for the year. The Easter stuff for the grandsons is done. I will still need to get chocolate bunnies.

I got one of those deals at JCP too. $11 jacket for DS10 for next year. :thumbsup2 Lots of cheap clothes for the boys too. I envy you for having your EASTER shopping done.

Well I am preparing for my last day as an underager :lmao: I know life isn't going to be that much more exciting after my birthday on Tuesday, but hey I can at least have a drink now and then:drinking1
:drinking1 :bday: Have a GREAT DAY!!!!

"

Thanks. Unfortunately, fairly permanent. When they layed off my co-worker, they didn't just get rid of him, they eliminated the position. And, there's no plans to review any eliminated positions until at least 2010. In other words, "tough luck hardworking underlings. Suck it up and make it work w/ too few employees." I AM happy to have a job though. I keep saying that and I mean it. I just don't want that to be the only reason I work there. But, in these tough times, its plenty reason enough!

:rotfl2: Get it off my chest....:lmao: :lmao: That's for sure. :lmao: Good one! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That was unintentional, I assure you! But, it is kind of funny.

MIL picked up BL for me the other day when I was home w/ sickie DS, and she brought a jacket w/ her that she had gotten for DS for $10. There are definitely some good deals out there... I just can't seem to find the time to go shopping.

OK - Here's the health patrol. How's everyone doing finally? I'm hoping we're on the mend, DH and I figured last night is been about 2 months since we've all been healthy at our house! :scared: He's got a fever again... round 2 w/ the flu as far as we can tell. And BL and I have wicked little head colds. DS seems to be getting better from his bout w/ the flu though, and I'm feeling better than I did yesterday, so hopefully this one didn't get me too bad. But, judging from this thread, it seems like there's a country wide (and Canada) epidemic of colds, bad teeth, etc. etc. going on here!

I hope everybody's on the mend!

BTW - Snowing like crazy here... I think I have to go check the weather report.

So today I found out I got a nice souvenir from my flight to Michigan with my mum for the funeral.... and ear infection... Moral of this story, don't fly with a bad head cold.:lmao: Other than that this is a great day seeing as it is warm enough to not run from building to building.

Thanks everyone for the early birthday wishes! I am glad to see many of you are enjoying nicer weather as well!

No nice weather here. We were to get snow showers this am--I think they meant before rush hour. Well, it was foggy this am on my way to Lancaster. The trees here were icy. In Lancaster, the sidewalks were snowy but not street. Took Mom to dr and it was barely snowing when we left, around 11:30. It kept snowing. On my way home it was just wet but at home I saw the sidewalk had more snow...it's still snowing. A friend called and asked it I could take her mom to dr. She's 87 and lives 2 blocks from me. Her dr is only about 5 blocks away. She said her mom thought she could drive but I called and said I would take her. It's sticking to the street now and I told her I thought she would mind the snow flying towards her as she was driving. I said Patrick had already been out in the snow today and was already dirty. I had given him a sponge bath yesterday---cleaned the windows and headlights and back tailgate where the dirt runs down. Poor thing is even dirtier. I don't mind driving here in the snow. It's the ice I don't like.
So we are getting our biggest snow of the year...at least sticking to the grass. Can't trust those weathermen...:upsidedow

I know what you mean. Weather report STILL says "snow flurries." Meanwhile, its been snowing since this morning, and we're probably at 2 inches by now. :rolleyes2

Well, it finally happened... my darling little boy decided he'd rather go to school tomorrow than stay home w/ dear ol' mom...

Actually, I'm thrilled that he likes his school so much. (They are having a special day tomorrow where the kids can bring their favorite blanket and a stuffed "friend", so I told him about it in case he wanted to go, but I really never expected him to say yes!) So, 99% of me says :cool1: :cheer2: , but that tiny little part still says... Oh my little baby!

:)

(For those who don't know, I work an off schedule, so I'm usually home 2 days w/ my boys and they go to school/daycare 3 days. Tomorrow was supposed to be a home day this week.)

Good evening Tkers!

I was over at racetracks site and M&N mentioned that she had heard a song that really got to her. So, in honor of what tomorrow is and in honor of us standing united I give to you.........

Proud to Be an American
by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,

Oh lighttech, your baby is becoming a big boy! :bitelip:

MSP, I hope you feel better. I bet a nice hot shower would do wonders! :rotfl:

I hope everyone else is having a good day.

I heard this live at the Sarah Palin rally they had here in Maine earlier this year... having said that should I be watching for :duck: there are places on the community board I would be scared to say that :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for that, o they decided that "the mix" was off, so they made the water hotter, so now my shower is luke warm :upsidedow at least we are getting closer

Well...I kind of wonder if some of those people would say that they are Proud to be an American. I am...no matter what and no matter who is President. Everyone I ever voted did not win...but that's the basis of democracy. In many countries, they would not be allowed to say what they have said about our leaders. And I think the way some on the DIS think is very evident in their put down of others. You can only have an opinion if it agrees with theirs. OK--I'll stop, step off the soapbox carefully...

Lighttech: try and not hug DS too hard as he goes off to school. We know he still loves Mommy but school is fun too. I won't remind you of the stress of finding him a good place to go. Sounds like you did! :thumbsup2

We all need to jump up there once in a while, it is good for the soul, and good for our country:thumbsup2 ( I really wish they would move the smiles back I cant find them)

Evening!!!

lighttech, I know how you feel about DS and wanting to be at school. DD7, even though she is older, will cry if she has to stay home from school. I'm so glad she likes school so much but well, you know. It just seems like they are growing up so fast. We had the everyone's been sick forever deal last year. It was horrible. Everytime someone finally got well, another was sick with the worst of it. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you all get better soon.

MSP, sorry you're sick. Ear infections stink. Be careful it doesn't turn into something worse. You are safe to speak your mind here. We are proud to be different than most of the other threads out there. We respect each other here even if their opinion is different than our own. :goodvibes

Pikester & M&N, I love that song too. DD12 learned all the words to it when she was 5 (right after 9/11) It get played pretty often here. We have it downloaded from Itunes. I try to teach my kids how lucky they are to be Americans. I hope I've done well with that.

It truly is scary out there. You're safe here though.

Couldn't have said it better myself.::yes:: Don't need to get my way to be proud to be American. The older I get, the prouder I feel each day. :thumbsup2

Here's to unity for all -today and ALWAYS!

I haven't read yet... but, I thought I'd bop on during this historic time! Is anyone else able to watch? I'm finding myself getting choked up. I don't know if I've ever watched an inauguration before. But, today it just seemed right to try and participate in some way, even if just by watching my tv. I truly hope and pray that maybe this moment will strengthen our nation and allow us to pull together again as an American people. And to show our compassion to each other and to humanity all around the globe.

lighttech, I'm watching too. Pres. Obama just finished his speech and I think it was very good. I wish him luck and strength in leading our country where we need to go.
