Four-mer TKers...4 one, 4 all, 4 ever

I think that WW ad above us is trying to tell us something.

hello17.gif
Tubeybrown and
welcomeflowrs.gif
to the Tker thread!

whgrn: Remember we are your "fake" friends.

I thinks it's pretty neat that we all found each other and just happen to believe in many of the same things. My kids always look at me in total surprise and say "How did you know?" when I figure out that they've been up to or are about to be up to something. To quote Magikitty: Been there, done that, even did it better than you!

racetrack: Same thing here at my house. Cover your assets first then have fun. Both my DH and I were raised by parents that taught us that very thing. The funny thing is, both our sisters some how missed out on those teachings.

Bopsmom: You are a very naughty girl! :rotfl:

Hi guys:

Thanks for all the best wishes on my 1000th...can't believe I talk that much.

I got this email today...kinda goes with this morning's topic:

To Those of You Born 1930 - 1979,
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets.

When we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one
actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times,we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no
surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no person al computers, no
Internet and no chat rooms, WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!
These Generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the gov ernment regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave
and lucky their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

Welcome Tubeybrown...hope you come back and chat.

We have our very own DVC Snob!! :woohoo:
I think the lady who attack you should have been told off...mind you that whole thread was just one big train wreck!!

D&D--I tried to email these to you. To make a long story short---didn't work. So plan 2 is to get them to Photobucket and then here. (fingers crossed)
Not all schools look alike but they all have the 2 outhouses! I think mine are the same school. Look for the clothes hanging from the house to the barn--high up. One pic shows a windmill. Mom took the one with the cows!
These are great!!! Thanks M&N!! I'm especially in :love:with that school house. I just LOVE old school houses. If I had tons of expendable money, I would purchse an old school house and rehab it. Complete w/ iron desks and all.

Good afternoon everyone!

Kids are home all week for April vacation. I was hoping I wouldn't feel that way till at least Wednesday but they've been at each others throats all morning. They are finally playing with legos and being quiet. Oops, they are about to have some sort of robot battle which I'm sure DS8 will lose and then have a hissy about it. I need a drink! It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?
D&DDisney: Really cute cake! I've done a few of the Wilton pan cakes but I'm usually not artistic enough to fit the cut cake pieces together to make something out of it. Was it chocolate?
I hear your pain Pikester. Was there myself, last week. Hang in there. Soon it will be Monday.
Thanks! The pirate ship was chocolate and the ocean was yellow cake.

I kinda stayed away for a couple of days so I wouldn't post and take my PO'd attitude out on all of you. I am just so sick of DS's mom's lies and her telling him to lie. The custody agreement is that she can pick him up at 5pm on Friday's on the weekend he goes to visit her. For the past 2 Fridays, she has called DH asking him to pick up DS early. Both weeks, she has lied about where they were going to let us have her way. 1st time-a minor league baseball game. She told us the game started at 5pm. DH called me to check the website and sure enough the game started at 7:10 pm. The stadium is only 10 minutes from our house. Then she changed the story that they had to get ready at their friends house. Their friend's house is only 5 minutes from here.
Then this past Friday, she calls DH about picking up DS early again. She said they were going fishing someplace 2 hours away. DH says no and she hangs up on him. Turns out she did take DS fishing....5 minutes from our house!!!! And on top of it, DS is 16 and needs to have a fishing license. She won't spend the $20.00 and buy him one. Instead she tells him if someone from the game commission comes around, to lie and say he's 15. :furious::furious::furious:
DH and I are working so hard to get DS to tell the truth and she does this. You can't imagine how p****d I am. Tell your kid to lie and break the law. I don't care what law it is, you just don't do that. And I'm sure her BF has a license but he's more important than her own child. Part of the reason we want to move so badly is to get DS away from her. How can he be raised to be a respectable member of society when she is telling him it's ok to lie and break the law. It may not be a major law but it's still the law. And I never thought that I feel that a child should be taken away from him mom except in cases of abuse. I just don't know what to do anymore. I just want to cry knowing that his mom is re-enforcing the bad behavior.
 We're always here for you! Don't ever worry about offending us. We're tough! :lmao:

WOW! D&DDisney! Your pirate ship cake is VERY impressive. Personally, I have a mental block when it comes to making all things dessert. I can cook pretty good otherwise but no talent for desserts. I am in awe!
So far, (I probably should say this week) my ADR dining choices are Hoop De Do Revue, Rainforest Cafe, Prime Time Cafe, Tony's, Coral Reef, and Teppan Edo. I am still considering Whispering Canyon Cafe and one of the character meals. How about you? What are your must dos? Anyone else.
Thanks! Making cakes for my kids is something I enjoy. I just hope it gives them good memories for later.
:thumbsup2: on Rainforest Cafe!!! I LOVE that place. Especially their spicey Pastalaya. :cloud9:Yummy!

For the Hershey bound TKers...This was just posted. Don't know who's interested or what day you are planning on being there but every Sunday night there's a concert in the park that's free.
Sunday, July 19 – CHUBBY CHECKER
Don’t miss classic hits like “The Twist”, “Let’s Twist Again”, and “Limbo Rock” brought to you by this musical legend. Show times: 4 PM and 6:30 PM
Looks like Sunday will work out best for us. I'm trying to get free tours of The White House and DC Capitol building for Tues or Wed, so Monday may end up being a travel day for us to Philly.
Woo hoo on CC!!! Maybe we can all get some dancing in.

Ya know, some people think it's so weird that I have "friends" on the internet that I have never met (other than Racetrack and MK). Well, you guys have more in common with me than alot of the people I know in real life! Sensible parenting, responsible spending, conservative values (I'm not saying this in a political way, but more in a "how you live your life" way.), just good common sense!
I guess that's why this is a safe place here on the DIS--we respect each other, and treat each other the way we would want to be treated. We may not always agree, but we will always defend each other's right to our opinions.
I agree! My DH is still kinda leary about "internet friends" but I've be writing to you gals for 2 years and feel like we're family. You'll have to help "warm up" DH during our TK meet.
ONLY 87 DAYS 'til HERSHEY according to my ticker!!!!

Wendy, right back at ya. I think, nope, I KNOW, we've found something special here with each other.

Bopsmom, are you wearing your crown as you are typing that?

Magiktty, I am really looking forward to Universal this year. I wasn't this excited for Disney last year. Not that I don't love Disney or didn't have fun there but there is so much out there to do. In Orlando and everywhere else too.

Being thrifty is great. I still use mypoints to get gift cards for gas stations for the drive down. We split meals with the little ones because they are too excited to eat most of the time anyway. I buy all my kids shoes from Payless because I won't spend 60.00 on a pair of sneakers that they'll out grow before they wear them out.

OK is the crappy weather or is everybody avoiding work...it's Wednesday afternoon and we're all on the computer!! :surfweb:

Weather isn't too bad here today; cloudy but the temp is 62. I am just trying to avoid doing all the chores I am suppose to be doing.;)

Hey everyone...All it takes is a little confrontation to perk us up and get us together. Our group is just unexplainable I think. It's so exciting to see more of us are actually meeting too. The sun is trying to peek out here but it's supposed to rain this evening I think.

D&D---Do you need anything else? When I do more driving around, I'll try and get more pics of schools. There are really a lot around. I didn't run into any covered bridges either. They are not necessarily in Amish areas. I did send you a postcard of one.

M&N, when you say "unexplainable", who are you talking about? Better not be me! :rotfl2:

I told DH last night that he has to take off 2 days for the tker Hershey meet and he said OK. Not "why" or "for what".

D&D, do you know what day you will be getting to the Hershey area?

I'm here coz I can't believe I'm really prepared for my trip. I packed last night without incident--I'm convinced I've forgotten something. And I'm not overpacked somehow, my luggage is pretty loose. Huh? What's going on?

I'm also getting my TKer fix while I can. I'm going to miss my gals while I'm away!

I have a covered bridge near me--can we substitute?

More EPCOT pictures...these are around the sphere...Fantasia theme...

No, Racer, I can very easily explain you! :rotfl2:
Your dh knows better than to ask questions. :scared1:

Loose is good! Summer clothes do not take up as much space. More room for the trip back home!!!
Sure, who would know where the bridge is?
We'll miss you too but expect full report and pics when you get back. We won't have to worry about starting a new thread before you go like the last time.

Kitty: Don't forget to get the buttons. I got an I'm celebrating button too. At City Hall, the cm wrote what we were celebrating but the guy at DHS just gave us one.

OK is the crappy weather or is everybody avoiding work...it's Wednesday afternoon and we're all on the computer!! :surfweb:
I have off today. Supposed to be working on my resume. I officially did not get a contract yesterday. :guilty: Trying to find a new PT job around my kids' schedule is going to be hard.

We are good - thanks! My DS is only in 1st grade so I don't think the report is going to be that involved. At least I hope not. :scared:
I really think I want to stop in Lancaster on our way to Philly. Looks beautiful.
We're thinking of staying in Elizabethtown at a KOA there. What do you think? Is it nice?

 KITTY is finally packed! :woohoo::woohoo:

Racetrack- Its looking like we should get there on Sat.

At the bottom of the page is a different WW ad--with my friend Hunger in it! He is just so cute.

I knew I wasn't wasting time on here! Someone posted a Rainforest Cafe coupon on the Budget Board: $10 off $25. Perfect! I can use it either at AK or Downtown Disney next week.

M&N...your pictures have gotten me so excited. We'll be able to go to a park late Sunday afternoon, and I'm thinking of taking the girls to EPCOT just so I can see all the topiaries! I'm between that and taking them to MK to see the fireworks....

D&D...sorry about the not-contract. I'll be praying you can find the right job for your schedule. I agree, Lancaster looks gorgeous. We'll have to check it out!

My kids get their shoes from Payless too! Occasionally they'll get some somewhere else, but only on sale. Heck, the way they go through shoes, there's no other choice! Yes, I did splurge on UGG boots for DD for Christmas, but it was the ONLY thing she really really really wanted, and her shoe size hasn't changed in over 2 years, so she'll likely wear them for a couple years.

Even clothes, most of our stuff comes from Kohls and Target. Yes, I got some things at Talbots, but they were on sale, and I had "free money" there too.

I'm also getting my TKer fix while I can. I'm going to miss my gals while I'm away!

And we are gonna miss you too!!!

I have off today. Supposed to be working on my resume. I officially did not get a contract yesterday. :guilty: Trying to find a new PT job around my kids' schedule is going to be hard.

I'm so sorry you didn't get a contract. Hope you are able to find something that works!

Why am I on here so much today? Becuase I'm being a lazy bum! Besides, there's no one I'd rather waste my time with!

You could go to the Rainforest Cafe when you come to Niagara too! What are your dates anyways?

This post is 4 hours late...lost my connection. :headache:
Tubeybrown Welcome. :wave2:
Now I can't remember what I was going to say.
Glad to hear Bopsmom is still here. :) Once my DH retires I'm going to stake out the computer at night so I can keep up with your adventures on the other threads!
