Founding MEmber status?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Founding Member status if you purchased your DVC membership through the DL office here in CA. Our guide told us that since we purchased our membership here in CA namley the DL office we are now founding members and when the GCV's come up for sale the founding members get first crack at purchasing points, then DVC members and then will become open to the general public. I've read a few posts in threads about other topics mention both the truth of this and the myth so I'm looking to see what others might know. I also called MS and the person I spoke with had never heard of such a thing but assured me if its what my guide told me it must be the truth. I don't have a reason to doubt my guide, she came across to me as a very genuine sincere person and came highly recomended. So what might you be able to tell me?

your guide was correct. We signed a separate 'Founding Member' addendum in our paperwork when we joined in Dec 07. When did you join? If you didn't sign one of these you may want to ask your guide about it to ensure you are registered as Founding Member in case you do want to buy points in advance. The paperwork says we will be contacted about the purchase 90days prior to the general membership and be able to purchase 60 days prior to the general membership...we also get a Founding Member gift worth about $100...

We joined about 2 months ago and our guide assured us it says in the computer we were founding members but I never saw a "Founding Memeber" addendum in our paperwork that came from DVC. The paperwork your refering to was it the closing docs that came from DVC in the big blue box that had to be signed and returned?

Yes, it was an extra addendum with all the paperwork that came in the box. Similar to the addendum that was included for us to sign to grant us the 2 free annual passes that were part of our promotion (that one wasn't initially included and they noticed when we reviewed our paperwork and sent out the next day...)

I posted on the other thread you started too, but yes, you should have had the paperwork to sign. Ours did not come with the original contract so I had to contact Quality Assurance and they sent it out for signatures.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I need to make a call to Quality Assurance Monday morning. Anyone ever heard just how many people are founding members and is everyone who bought at DL a founding member or is there a cutoff?

I think I better check our paperwork too...the founding member status was the main reason we added on 100 pts to AKV while we were there in May. I would hate to miss out on having GCV one of our home resorts!

If it's missing...guess I will be another call into Quality Assurance on Monday!
