Found a puppy - update- post 1 - new owners decide not to take her

the real owner has been proven unfit. If they were trying to find their dog they would have seen your notices and come right away.
I have to totally disagree here. When our dog ran away, the person had in fact posted signs, but the dog travelled further away than we were looking (or thought she'd go) and we never saw one single sign.
There could be various reasons why no one has contacted the person who found the dog. What if the owner is out of town and someone was pet sitting?
I just think it's a little early to be calling the real owner unfit, but then again, I've been in a similar situation and could not thank the lady enough for posting it in the paper. She had a collie so we made her collie up a basket of doggie treats to thank her since she wouldn't take any reward money.

we're in the same situation. my wife found a little dog that looks to be a cross between a chihuahua and some kind of terrier in a busy road last week, almost geting hit. it's a girl, so we took her to the vet thinking she had been dumped due to being pregnant. she wasn't, so we put up flyers and listed her on a couple of websites. no one has responded, and I don't think my wife is willing to give her up now. she's about 6 months old and the most loving thing I've ever seen. she came into our house and took over, she's at my feet right now. :)

Awwwww - it was meant to be. I'm glad you were able to take her in and keep her.

This sweet little puppy has taken over my couch. I think we're spoiling her rotten. She loves to snuggle up next to a human. Last night, I slept on the couch and she slept right next to me. What a sweetheart!

Thanks for responding.

A neighbor of mine just told me a horrifying story. I told her about this little puppy and she said she saw some man beating on a puppy the other day...about 2 blocks from me. She was driving down the road in front of this man's house and saw him "spanking" on a little black puppy and the puppy kept yelping. She said if she hadn't been in a hurry to get to where she was going, she would have stopped and scolded the man. She said it sounds like the puppy I have. Now, I'm not saying that this is the puppy. I don't know. I do notice that when I reach down to pet her, she looks worried and shrinks down until I pet her a few times and then she seems okay.

If this is the owner, I don't know that I want him to find her. :(
I can't believe anyone would be in such a hurry to not come to the aid of a little puppy. But besides that, your neighbor should remember where this idiot lives and report him to animal welfare immediately.

New owners decide not to take her. :confused3 :(

The wife decided she wasn't up to taking care of 2 dogs. I'm so upset. I don't know what to do now. I can't keep her at this time and I don't want to take her to the animal shelter if the owners don't claim her. After this week, I'll try to find her a new home but I thought we had already found the perfect family for her. I just want her to have a good life with kids she can play with - she deserves that much.

sending you good vibes so she will find the home she was meant to have. Prayers and hugs. Keep the faith. It will all work out.

Here are two solutions. Go to www.petfinder.com . If you navigate around as if you are searching for a dachshund dog/puppy in your area, you will be able to pull up all the dachshunds available. With this information, it will also show in your area the certain rescue societies that find good homes for different breeds of animals. You can then click on their button and see if they can assist you in finding a good home for your furry friend.

Here is the other solution. Several months ago I rescued two shiz tsus. I did a search on the internet for "shiz tsus rescue dallas texas". Up pops a rescue group's name and contact information. They came out and picked the sweeties up to find a home for them. These rescue groups are very picky on who they adopt to. It is probably easier to adopt a human child than it is a dog from these rescue groups!

Hope this helps! :flower:
