We love Disney too but we gave Universal a chance and now we are hooked and if you give Universal a chance I think you will be surpised.

Ditto - although I still love Disney, I could easily go to Orlando and not hit a single Disney attraction, as long as I got my time in at Universal. Hands down, the theming is unbelievably better than Disney, the lines not as crazy, the discounts phenomenal, and the price of tickets uncomparable. I also love how the hotels are within walking distance - with the exception of a few hotels, Disney can't even compare to this. I love my Universal....and I'm always making excuses to come back!

Thanks we will have to bite the bullet and try it. I just can not imagine being in Orlando and not going to Disney. Although until 2004 we had been to Florida several times without going to Disney. So new things are good.

You are absolutely right...."new things are good"..... if some of us had never tried UO, we wouldn't love it so much! Just please remember, Universal Orlando is NOT Disney....they don't have pixiedust there, they have mummydust.... If you go with the mindset to expect 'Disney' and you find yourself comparing it to Disney, you will be disappointed....it has happened before.

Go to Universal and look at it and enjoy it for what it is.....it is not Disney, do not even try to compare it...or you will most likely be disappointed.

Stepping off my soapbox....I wish you all a ton of fun and a great trip! :goodvibes

We love both and there are things we like about Universal better than Disney. We never do both in the same trip. If we are going to combine we usually do a theme Park and then a more restful resort type place. This year it is Portofino Pay and then Fort Lauderdale. Whatever you do have a fantasic time:love:

You could ALWAYS try my approach...Im a disney fan through and through.....go with my family of 7 every year.......and as wonderful as the the mouse house is, Universal has some over the edge thrill rides and enough kid friendly crap to seriously compete with Disney on a smaller level.
So we are staying on disney grounds at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds to get our disney fix, but visiting UO and IOA instead of the disney parks. Best of both worlds.AND...this will be the LEAST expensive trip we've taken in years!!!!
