Fort Worth woman shot in her own home by police

Disgusting!!! Disturbing!!! I was so angry when I saw this on the news tonight!! There is absolutely no reason for this to have happened!!! The poor lady...…..

I live right outside of Fort Worth. This is very shocking. I feel for the woman and her family (especially her nephew).

The police officer just messed up. Period. There is just no excuse for what he did. It sounds like they need a ground up investigation of the police department and their policies, training procedures, etc.

How is he even explaining this? And I don't get why he wouldn't have gone in the already open door to investigate properly??

It reminds me of a chapter in a book I just read: Blink, by Malcolm Gladwell. The book was about how we make quick decisions, and the chapter was about a similar tragedy.

0.6 seconds from when he saw her to when he shot. That's insane. If you are so scared of people you should not be a cop
Why was he going in, guns blazing, for a welfare check?
Why did the police union post his bail if he resigned?

Something is rotten in Ft Worth

He murdered her, in her own bedroom and was rightfully charged. Will he be convicted? Eh, I have my doubts. It is Texas, after all.

The PO that killed her neighbor was convicted and that was also in Texas.

What a shame the PO didn't just knock on the door and call in the house to make sure she was OK.
Why when he saw "a person" in the window he didn't ask if it was her?
It wasn't like the neighbor called to say they saw someone suspicious at the house.

Such a tragedy, my heart goes out to her family.

They said on the news this morning that the dispatch didn't come through as a welfare check, but as another term. I forgot the term used, but it alluded to it being an abandoned structure with suspicious activity. Something to that effect. They said this is possibly why he walked the perimeter first and had the gun drawn when he noted lights on inside. But it still doesn't explain why he was so quick to shoot. Has anyone seen any reporting of how he's tried to explain that? The wrong apartment, as was the case in Dallas, is pretty mind blowing so I'm curious to see what can possibly be said about this scenario.
