What does everyone think about the cabins at Ft. Wilderness? I don't hear too much about it and thought it would be fun. How many people do the cabins sleep? Thanks!

a full size bed and bunk beds in the bedrooms and a murphy(full size) bed in the livingroom.

it sleeps 6.

I loved it - my mother hated it!!!

...a full week in colder January where we had no plans to swim or do outside activities there. Our time was all at the parks. We saved lots on food (only ate mid meal out each day) and the inside of the cabin was well decorated. Plenty of room. We had a super rate and it was a great week. You park right at your room too.

For other trips it wouldn't be our first choice because......we like the pools to be fun/themed and walking distance from room. We enjoy a quick walk to food court or snack area. We didn't like that you could not drive to anything inside the campground if you were going to enjoy the outside activities or dinners etc. We took the camp bus to the boat to MK, but otherwise we drove everywhere outside. Overall there was no real theme....it is a campground and a very nice campground.....but at Disney I do enjoy the creativity they put into the hotels.

They SAY it sleeps 6, but those full-size beds aren't large enough for the meatier sort...if you have a queen at home, it won't be big enough. My DH and I have no problem sleeping apart on vacations, though, so I took the Murphy (comfortable!), and he slept in the room with the kids...he on the full, they on the bunks. Worked out great!

If you choose to stay there, though, get a rental car. They have an internal and the external bus system, which means you have to ride 2 busses to get ANYwhere (or a bus and a boat). The other option is to get a golf cart for the week. You can rent them from Disney, or there are outside companies who will deliver them to you onsite to use for the week. That way you cut out at least one bus ride.

Other than that, we had a wonderful stay in the cabins! It's very peaceful there.

we've stayed there several times. it is very nice, especially if you have a family and are trying to save some money.

the cabin has one bedroom with a twin bunk bed set, and a full-size bed. the living room has a full-size murphy bed (comes out of the wall). and there is room for someone to sleep on top of the couch. so depending how you do it, there is a possibility for 6 or 7 people to sleep.

there is a full kitchen, complete with stove, oven, dishwasher, pots, pans, plates, cups, coffee pots, full size fridge/freezer, etc. there is a wood patio with a grill. we have had some good bbq's after a day at the water parks...

QUEEN beds? When did they change???? I admit, it's been a while since I've been there, but it was just a full bed and Murphy bed (again, full, not queen) when I was there, and that's how it's listed on the Disney site. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. To me, size IS important! :teeth:

Oh, and by the way, I agree, it is very nice, regardless of "the size"! And your pics are very nice, too!

i could have sworn that they were queens... but i just double checked another web site and it says that they are fulls... so i changed it..

i didn't call disney to verify though... :flower:

The bed in the back bedroom definately is not queen size. I'm used to a queen at home and although I sleep on the edge of the bed (DH is a bed hog) I had a very hard time being comfortable since I was up against a wall with no place to dangle and arm or knee.

That said, I still *LOVE* the cabins and FW. I will rearrange the sleeping accomodations next time so that DH and I are in the LR on the murphy with DS in the rear.
