The past two trips staying at the Fort (2001, 2003), we've been in the 700 loop, and biked/walked to the dock for quick transport to the MK via boat, but have used our vehicle to travel to the other parks to save time/hassle on bus wait times and transfers. Since theme park parking is included as a perk for on-site guests, this has worked well.

Has anything changed that would make that strategy less desirable since our last stay?

I could see that if we don't get a loop close to the settlement area, that travel back after dark from MK on bikes with 4 and 8 yo might be dicey.

Thoughts?

Same as it ever was.

If you don't want to hassle with the drive back home take WDW Transportation and leave the driving to them.

We have done the same. First trip we took bikes, second trip we rented a golf cart. If you can afford the cart, I would suggest you get it. It's worth it. We always drive to MGM and AK. Last trip we bought tickets for my in-laws at AAA and they gave us a parking pass. AAA has special parking next to the handi-cap. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
