Hi there-
Just looking for some information on the Campfire sing along at Fort Wilderness. Our Town Car driver mentioned it on our trip in May and now we've decided to take advantage of the FTP and return in August. Thought it might be fun to try this sing along/movie. Any information you might have would be appreciated!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

:) :) :) :) :) :)

It is a nightly affair or at least during the summer. They start a big fire and you can either bring your own marshmallows and sticks or you can buy them there. After a little while a singer comes out and starts singing songs that the crowd can join in on and Chip and Dale wonder through the crowd posing for pics and signing autographs. Then they show a Disney movie. It was a neat little experience.

Best of all the book said that it's free!!! Except for snacks that you can buy. We have never been but we are planning on going one night. I just love Chip and Dale. Plus my kids love a good campfire. I would have never known about this unless I read the Passport book. And I worked for Disney years ago. Must be something new.

The FW campfire is alot of fun. Although we stay in the FW cabins
at least 2 times a year we never find time to go anymore. Don't forget to bring the kids autograph books because Chip and Dale are there to sign. They come around to your seat so you can take your own pictures. Then they show a Disney movie on a large screen outside. My kids like sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows. If it rains they just do a sing along on the porch of the meadow trading post store. They post their movie schedule in the beginning of the week at the front desk and in the 2 stores
in the campground.

We went about 15 years ago and it sounds like it is still the same. We are going back in Aug. as first time grandparents and we are planning on hitting this for our grandson.

Do you have to be staying at FW to attend this. We will be staying at POR. I am a little confused by this.

This campfire is open to anyone. There is no charge for it. You only pay for marshmallows and snacks. They sell popcorn and candy, and hot dogs. They also sell soda.

Is the campfire really crowded? Someone mentioned "seats"...how is it all arranged?

There is usually plenty of seats, they have benches and bleachers.
It does not get crowded, we have never had a problem just walking up and getting a seat.

Oh and in case no one else has mentioned it (like if I missed it or something)-it's not just in summer, it's year round. I did this twice in Jan. :)

it can get crowded during the sing along, but very often people leave when the movie start and then it is not crowded.....
Chip and Dale also visit everyone.. It is a fun activity.

Actually, it's not. My husband has very fond memories of doing this when they went to Disney every year as kids (and he's in his early 30's now). He can't wait to pass on the tradition to our boys. We're staying at Wilderness Lodge and are planning on going over for this one night--I think our 2-year old will love it (unless he's so tired that he flakes out).

We had a great time at the campfire. It was crowded when we were there and I STRONGLY suggest if youare going to see Chip and Dale that you get there early and sit up front!!! They don't make it around to everybody. We went two different nights and each night there were several folks who were left high and dry without getting close to the two chipmunks. The song leader that we had each night was named Sandy and she was just the best!!! She really seemed to be enjoying herself and got the crowd really involved! We took our own marshmellows, chocolate, gram crackers, and drinks. You can buy the sticks to toast the mellows on right there at only 25 cents per pair. Enjoy the movie...if you don;t plan on staying for it don't forget the water parade that is just down on the beach, we were diappointed with this..but I know others really like it. Good Luck and have fun!

how do you find out what time this is at?
is there a place for dinner in FW before the fire? and would I need PS in the fall?
Is there parking, or can you only get there using WDW transportation?

There is a place to eat up close to the beach can't remember what it is called, they sell hotdogs at the campfire, and then there is also the hoop-de-do review. You MUST have reservations for the review and it is a lil costly but well worth it in our opinion. There is no parking for anything other than the golf carts that I am aware of close to the campfire area but the buses will drop you off close by. When we were there it started at 8, has to be dark for the movie...so I doubt there is much time difference but you can check the sched.

We just went a week ago tonight to the campfire. You don't have to be staying there...and it starts at 8pm...you can ride a bus there or drive yourself :) We got there about 730 and there were plenty of benches left. You get a big bag of marshmellows, graham crackers, and 2 hershey bars with 2 sticks to make smor'es... all for only $5.00! IMO, best deal at Disney...LOL
It was a good time of singing songs, meeting and posing with Chip & Dale and they showed a movie. Last week it was The Tigger Movie.

It's great fun...the kids loved it and the scenery is nice :)

so, if we drive ourselves, is there parking?

and, where is the 'schedule' with the time on it?

Thanks

Now, does anyone know- can I just park where you would park for hoop de doo and take the bus?

Is it really far from the Trail's End Buffet to the Campfire program? I've heard great things about the food (and value!) there...Our first night is a non-park day and I'm really thinking about doing the Fort Wilderness/Wilderness Lodge experience.

No one mentioned the petting zoo...is that still around?
