Yes. I did it this past February. Uses a lot of points though.

During Value season Cabins are 27 points per weeknight and 49 points per weekend night.

During value season cabins are $239 per night.


So IMO if you are going to rent points @ $10 per point you would actually be paying more than if you just reserved through Disney, And that is not even factoring room discounts like AAA that would bring that $239 even lower.

Yes it is possible but there is a catch to it. They are considered in the Disney Collection and can be used outside of the resort accom. I don't know if the $75 fee is involved in that or not. They are in with the cruise line and the fee is on that. If you are a member you can call and ask about it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful in your question.

You can use points for any Disney property, but the points are much higher for the non vacation club properties. It is generally cheaper to rent through the resort. Some people do it because they have too many points and don't care.

The cabins just aren't the same as staying in the Lodge. And, yes, you do have to pay the $75 transfer fee. You might want to see what you can reserve at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge and end up saving yourself a bunch of points and having a far superior experience. (Unless the kids love the woods and want to be in that environment.)

We actually have a cabin booked on points my DW has always wanted to stay in them so we are using some of our points to do so. We realise it is cheaper to pay cash but we figured what the heck we have the points so lets use them.

It may be cheaper depending on how you count the 'cost'. Some people use the $10 figure even though they've no plan to ever rent their points, and that's silly if you want to stay in the cabins and otherwise wouldn't use nor rent the points.

Under this accounting theory, rounding up my per point cost, $6/pt * 27 * X nights + $75 is probably less than most discounted prices *1.11 tax * X nights.

It's all just perspective.

I don't think the $75 fee applies to the cabins. Reading the literature, the $75 only applies to the Disney Cruise Line. Not the rest of the Disney Collection.

We've stayed at DL at the GC a few times, and there was no fee. Just the points.

We also stayed one time in Paris at Newport Bay Club and there was no fee. Again just the points.

No $75 exchange fee. I just don't know why anyone would WANT to stay in a FW cabin instead of a 2 bedroom villa. There is a BIG difference in accommodations and I don't think I would be willing to spend more for less.

because of the bunk beds - some kids want to try bunk beds.

so right now FW cabins is the only WDW place that has both bunk beds and a kitchen.

besides I like that murphy bed myself.

"more". If you're an indoor person, the 2 br villa is probably the best way to go, but for those of us who are nature lovers the cabins offer a large private deck out in the woods with a personal grill. Armadillos, rabbits & deer have all been spotted outside the cabin door & it's just so peaceful it's impossible to describe.
