Fort Wilderness Cabins?

Hello all,
We're visiting in Dec and right now, we have 3 rooms booked at All-Star Movies b/c our group of 6 is on a somewhat tight budget.
However - I've been reading up on these cabins and was wondering if anyone has stayed there and can give a review.

Specifically, is there much privacy for the various guests in the cabin?
Also - how far are the cabins from the bus stop(s)?
We'll be travelling with someone who has severe arthritis and moves slowly - slow the closer, the better.

the only problem with the cabins - one bathroom.

there is a double bed and bunk beds in the bedroom, a murphy bed (again a double) in the livingroom.

full kitchen, lots of outside place to enjoy.

now how close to the bus stop do you need to be?

We just got back Monday from the Cabins, our 3rd stay in them, we love them a lot, picnic table and deck, seating for 6 at the dining table, the bathroom is large, but as stated only 1 and one sink. We used the kitchen sink as overflow, and in the bedfoom there is a mirror and hairdryer.

I walk with a can and had no trouble walking to the bus stop, they are all fairly close to the cabin loops. There are double buses, to take you to the settelment or the outpost to get transportation to all other parks.

We love the quiet of the cabins, and not worrying if our walking around is bothering others. The full size fridge is a great addition, and we always feel very comfortable in the cabins.

If you have 6 in three rooms I assume you are talking 6 adults, and there is no way I would stay in the cabins with all adults. They are set up for families, and at most I could imagine would be 4 adults. We were a family of five, 3 children and we filled it up.

- One bathroom, and it's a one room bathroom
- One real bed, a murphy bed, and two would have to be on bunk beds. The bunks and real bed are in room together and it is small and tight.

- You could possible sit 5-6 people at table, but not adults. Table is too small. We had to eat off sofa etc.

They are decorated well, and the main advantage to them for us was the kitchen. The campground is not easy to manuever and you can't walk or drive to anywhere, you must use internal bus....so we never used their amenities. We found we just prefer the "luxury" of being in a hotel/resort as opposed to a campground unless we plan to cook most our meals.

As has been mentioned, there's less privacy because there's a single bedroom with sleeping space for four and then the murphy bed in the living room.

While it's true that there is only one bathroom, don't forget that there's a sink outside the bathroom in the kitchen. Not a bad place to wash hands/face and brush teeth.

IMO, it's one of the best as far as public transport convenience. It will take a bit longer to get to the parks because you'll be taking an internal bus from your loop and then taking an external bus to the parks but your walk to the initial bus is very minimal. I disagree that you can't walk anywhere, we did it a lot on our last trip.

Overall, we like it because them because they're spacious and have a kitchen. We save a lot of money because we'll eat breakfast in most days and dinner in some days. A lot depends on how close everyone is though. If everyone really wants their privacy then the separate rooms may be better even though it will cost more.
