Fort Walton Beach?

I'm planning a trip to visit with relatives who may be moving to Ft Walton Beach. I plan on travelling from there to WDW after our visit.

Does anyone have any advice on travelling to Ft Walton Beach? I'm hoping to hear whcih airport in that area offers the most reasonably priced, convenient air schedules and the best rental car rates.

Also, what is the driving time from FWB to WDW? It looks like it is around 8 hours or so. If anyone can confirm that, I'd appreciate it!

Flying in the Florida Panhandle from MN twice now, we have found airfare to be lowest flying into Pensacola on Northwest Airlines. American does not fly into the western Panhandle. Delta might, I am not sure.

Pensacola is about an hour west of FWB. An easy drive, I might add. Pensacola is a nice small airport and you can easily use Priceline to get a good rate on a car. All rental cars are on site, I believe. We had Hertz rental in August.

I nave never driven to WDW from the FWB area, but I read 9 hours or so from Pensacola area, so that sounds about right.
