Hi
Cruising out of Fort Lauderdale next August and looking for recommendations on hotels near the port for the night before with shuttle service to the cruise terminal. Thanks in advance.

We are staying at the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port & Convention Center in 10 days before our cruise on the Destiny on 11/28. The port is about 1.5 miles from the hotel and they do have a 3rd party shuttle (10am, 11am, 12pm & 1pm departure times) available for $9 per person. Uber/Lyft to the port would probably be cheaper.

Try the Hilton Marina. It's very close to the cruise terminal and there is a shuttle, but it is not free.

We have stayed at various hotels pre cruise night in FLL. In January we are staying at the Hilton Marina and booked DCL transfers. I know we can Uber for less money but we just wanted total convenience for our group of 6. We wanted to all get a low boarding number since we all have different Castaway Club status.

We have stayed at the Hilton before but had a car rental and was going to return the car and take the car rental shuttle but the line for the shuttle was 50 people deep so we know it would be several shuttles before we could get on one. We just called an uber from the car rental office.

We have also stayed at the Marriot Airport Dania Pointe and that was a lovely hotel. We had 16 people with us so we rented private van service through All Stars Tour and Transportation.

We have also stayed at the AC Hotel Dania Pointe (attached to the Marriott by a pool on the 4th Floor) and took an uber.

Another vote for the Embassy Suites. Extremely close to port. They can arrange a shuttle, however it will be cheaper and easier to to Uber/Lyft. I think an Uber XL was about $10. They have a good (free) breakfast, and an afternoon reception/happy hour with free drinks/snacks. There is a shopping center directly behind the hotel (<5 minute walk) with a Publix and a number of restaurants. And a good pool aera.

Do you know if they have a shuttle that will return you to the hotel after the cruise has ended? I would prefer to take the shuttle from the hotel and not drive to the cruise terminal. We will be going on our first voyage on the Destiny this October. Thanks!

Can't help on that score. We drove over to the port so that we could just immediately leave at the end of the cruise rather than wait for a shuttle.

We have stayed at several mentioned, but most recently the Embassy Suites and the Hyatt Place. You'll get a free buffet breakfast at the Embassy Suites.
I would second the suggestion on Uber. The shuttle to the port was 2-3x more expensive than an Uber. You're so close to the port that an Uber should be less than $10.

We stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port. It was just a short shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel. We booked it because it was under $200 per night, conveniently located, and included breakfast. The hotel offered a shuttle to the cruise port, but we opted for Uber instead, as it was cheaper and under 15 minutes away.

I would also add that if you stay at one the 17th street hotels, there's a good chance you'll be able to see your ship out of your window when you wake up in the morning. This has been a great surprise for our little one to throw the curtains open and see our ship waiting for us as the sun is coming up.

What was your opinion on the Hyatt Place. We are a family of 13 and have booked Hyatt Place and also Springhill suites . Trying to decide . Thank you

We stayed at Hyatt Place recently. It was very nice, and newly renovated. Everything was new and very clean. Free breakfast buffet. We only had coffee because there were two little kids touching all the food and the father didn't even try to stop them. :( No thanks I'll just have coffee. It's like any other Hyatt Place, if you've stayed in one before it will be almost identical. Since it was our first time sailing out of Port Everglades we thought it would be easier to just take the shuttle. Next time I will take a ride share.

I can't answer about the shuttle, but there are a lot of taxis sitting right outside when you get off the ship.

I haven't stayed at the SHS, but the Hyatt Place has a very small lobby. There was a small counter/bar that seats maybe 8 (if I remember right), and 3-4 tables that seat 4. It wasn't a big deal for us because we got in really late and had offsite plans for breakfast. With a big group though, you'll probably fill up the whole lobby. The location however is very convenient. You're walking distance to the grocery store (and wine store) if you forget to pack anything or are needing beach toys (sand buckets, rakes, etc.). We always walk over and pay $8 for a bag of the beach toys and then toss them at the end of the trip. Same for sunscreen - much better prices at the grocery store than a CVS/Walgreens. There are also some casual restaurants for dinner or breakfast that could handle a large group in walking distance too. That 17th Street corridor is pretty perfect for pre-cruise. Have fun!

We usually stay at the Marriott Harbor Beach. It's close enough for a quick Lyft/Uber for us but we get a discount there which seals the deal! The rooms have always been clean and service/restaurants are good. It is also a Disney preferred one so if you want the Disney shuttle that is an option there as well.
