Is there any formula for how much you would sell your points for, say a friend wants to use some... I just dont even know where to begin with that one.

No formula that I know about.

The "market" ranges from $7 -$14 per point. Lower end is for points that are expiring soon or have other booking restrictions. Higher end is usually for something that is in high demand during a popular season and needs to be booked as soon as the 11 month window opens.

Many who rent reservations to their friends or family will charge less - perhaps the amount of dues for the points required to make the reservation. Others will charge a percentage of the rack rate - maybe 50%.

It's really up to you.

If you want to charge a friend "fair price", there are probably many ways to look at it. Personally, I'd use what I figure is my cost for the points.

I calculate my cost as

- Maintenance Fee's
- Lost interest on purchase price
- Depreciation

For one set of my points, that would be

$5.04 (maintenance fees)
$2.40 (3% lost interest on $80)
$2.00 (I bought 40 years for $80)

Total of $9.44. In reality, I'd probably end up charging either $9 or $10, depending upon how I was feeling towards that friend that day.
