Former AP holders going through Disney withdrawals...a pre-trip report (with pics!)

Sounds Fun!! I'm so excited to ride the Matterhorn for the first time this year!

Great pics!! It's getting me all excited for our trip!

We also totally love Space Mt and Indiana Jones.

I really like the Matterhorn. But it tends to give DH a headache since it's a little jerky. We used to sit together in the same seat...but now we sit separately and that's a lot more comfortable.

I love sitting in row one on Space Mountain (we ask for the front and wait sometimes. And I also love the back row on Indiana Jones (you get thrown around a little more) but we never ask for it...we just sit wherever.

Every time we get on Space Mt we wait the extra to sit up front. It's the only way to ride! We do the same with Indiana. And also Pirates. It's a little easier to get immersed in the magic of those rides when you're not lookin at the back of someone's noggin, heh. Especially for the kids whose view gets pretty obstructed otherwise.

Right before they closed Pirates for the refurb (where they added jack sparrow)...I brought my video camera to record the ride. I asked to wait to sit in the front and they wouldn't let me. Jerks.

Well, that sucks. I wonder why not? If you're willing to wait, what difference does it make?

I've never sat in the front on POTC. I have on Splash and OMG, what a difference!! :scared1:

I still get so nervous right before the drop on Splash. It freaks me out. Especially with the creepy music right before.

QUESTION - I was wondering...in your household, who mows the lawn?

Does anyone know much about Magic Mornings? If we do the three-day hoppers (which I'm almost positive we are) we get one MM.

We'd probably use it on Thursday morning. Which rides are open? Are the lines short?

Now I am debating whether or not to use my mileage club miles for our trip or not. The ticket prices used to be around $450 a ticket. Now they are about $222 a ticket. So we went from having to spend around $900 total to $444.

So I'm wondering if it would be better to save my miles for a future trip instead in case tickets go way up again in the future.

I don't like booking plane tickets and hotels too far in advance so I'm going to wait until November, at the earliest. If plane tickets are around $222 then, I may end up just buying them and saving our miles for later.

I don't know when we'll fly again but I do know we want to make a trip to WDW again...possibly in 2010. And maybe a trip to Disneyland in late 2009 (if we can afford it) and/or in 2010.

I guess we'll see what happens.

I think I read that all the Fantasy Land rides are open as well as Space Mountain, Nemo, Buzz Lightyear, and the Matterhorn.

Cool. Maybe we'll be able to hit Peter Pan without a huge line. I love that ride but we almost never go on it because the line is crazy.

I was tempted to call off the Disneyland/DCA part of our trip yesterday. I always feel guilty for wanting to spend so much time at Disneyland when technically our trip is supposed to be for visiting my in-laws. We're going there so we can visit my husband's mom, step-dad, grandpa, and brothers. My husband made a comment about how it's going to be hard to get together when them because of our disneyland time. So I felt bad and said we could cancel the Disney part of it. We argued about it. But we decided to keep the Disneyland portion of our trip. I still feel guilty though. Especially since the first two days there are Disneyland days.
I'm sorry you guys argued about it. But I'm glad you kept it. You can't go all that way and not do Disneyland, especially since for you two it holds extra special meaning since that's where you were engaged!

Yeah...I'd be sad if we didn't go. I guess it's just stressful because I feel so guilty about it.

Quick rundown of the days of our trip.....

January 21st, Wednesday - Arrive in CA. Disneyland
January 22nd, Thursday - Disneyland
January 23rd, Friday - Family day (and possibly go to the beach.)
January 24th, Saturday - Family day
January 25th, Sunday - Disneyland
January 26th, Monday - Fly home.

We're avoiding the park on Friday and Saturday because those days tend to be more crowded. I'm hoping they have fireworks on Sunday though. I like to watch bands play at the Tomorrowland Terrace but I think that only happens on Friday and Saturday nights during the off season. So I'll be sad we're missing that. If we still had APs we could just stop by the park for a few hours on Friday or Saturday night.

When we were there last August we had APs and we ended up going to the parks at least for a little bit on each day we were there. I'm sad we can't do that anymore.

I actually contemplated getting Deluxe APs (we used to have premium APs.) If we were to go on one more California trip before January 2010, it would be worth the money. We'd actually save money by getting Deluxe passes. DH doesn't think we'll be able to go back to California until maybe 2010 though so we aren't going to do that.

I don't cook or bake much...but I really want to buy a cute apron. I found a bunch that I like. They are $30 each. I can't decide which one to get. If they were cheaper, I'd buy all of them. These are the ones I like best....

Brown polka-dot (DH's favorite)

50's Kitchen (I think this one might be my favorite.)

Fall Roses (we all know how much I love Fall!)

Blue floral (It's cute a spring-y)

Candy Cane (I love Christmas. It would be fun to wear this while making cookies for the holidays!)

Which one do you guys like best?

Aw, please don't feel guilty about it. I know it's easier said than done, but you guys are spending a lot of time, money, and effort to travel all that way... it should be ok for you guys to spend time at a place that you two love so much and has such a special history for you. :lovestruc

If I were you, I'd use the MM to get on Nemo 1st thing if you haven't been on that ride yet. Sounds like people think it's worth it to go on only if the line isn't insane - which it is unless you get there 1st thing with MM. Then you can probably run over to Fantasyland and still get on the dark rides without too much of a line. That's what I'd do anyway.

I adore that Christmas apron! How perfect for Christmas baking! The other ones are super cute too. But I have to go with your DH on the brown w/ pink polka dots - that is just so adorable!
